I'm making a film. It's told like The Hole. A kid is picked up off a back woods street. He is bloody and is taken to a hospital where he reveals the story to a psychiatrist. The plot reveals a vengeful teacher and her daughter killed a group of his immoral friends and he escaped. He still belives them to be out there.
I'm having a problem wih the ending. Yuo see the main character jsut told everythng. The killer's mom has been killed from when she tried to stitch her daughter back up and she came back to life. I'm stuck on what to do. I want something shocking, possibly original, and scary as hell.

Every 8 seconds, someone in the world dies from tobacco.
Truth.
God, I'm so gut-bustingly hilarious. Man. Anyways, you've done this before, haven't you? Posting a vague plot and then asking for help on the end? If so, find those old posts. I'm sure a schmoe already mentioned what's so odd about what you're asking.

Well . . . as the writer I'd work on it on my own but since you're doing it no trouble with giving some ideas.
Well, the idea of a twist ending is to completely turn everything the audience already knows. So by the end, what are the things you can change? First, you know that the kid wasn't the killer (you can change that). You know that all his friends died (you can change that) under the hands of a teacher (you can change that).
Make a list of all the small additions given before the conclusion (the plot developments, things we've learned so far) and play around with them, see what you can change.
Also, don't be afraid to COMPLETELY change the tone of the movie. Don't be afraid to suddenly add a ruby dragon with a sword that swallows souls or a fog in the forest that traps the souls of the dead. I don't remember seeing a movie that does this, I think it might be interesting (obviously not those specific examples, but a massive tone change) if done right.
Sorry for the lack of specific help but it's hard for me to come up with an ending if I hardly know anything about the plot.

The psychitrist is his long lost father/mother, and decides to kill the kid because the Teacher, and the daughter couldn't. The whole plan was for that day he was going to die, but it didn't happen. He escaped death, and thus changed the whole face of time as we know it.
I'm half tired doing this so.

Wow, Joey. That's actually really good.
The whole thing is that I originally had a strange ending in the script, where the main character stats speaking in a childlike tone and turns around into a corner. The psychatrist asks him why he is doing that. He starts rambling about killing the sluts and pigs. Then she goes up to check on him. He turns around and is the little girl. He grabs her and says" sluts and pigs...LIKE YOU!"
I thought it was too strange. The overall mood was shattered.
I have one that was like The Grudge, where the psychatrist leaves the room and calls someone. She doesn't come back so the main character looks for her and finds her dead, then down the hospital steps comes the little girl(Ring/Grudge style). He tries to run, but each closet or door he opens, she's there. He finnally thinks he's lost her and then it goes into the last 5 seconds of The Grudge ripped off.
I know that everyone died who was suposed to. The killer is actually the little girl, but the main character belives it to be the little girl's mother and teacher at his school named Claudia.
Claudia ends up dead in the shower, from her daughter. The little girl comes back, even though the main character whacked off her head.
He and his friends ere on a trip to move their best friend into her new house in Alabama. Their plans are to spens the ight at the home of one of their grandmothers. They of course break down. Thankfully, the grandmother's house is a very short distance. They are able to make it there without tomuch of a glitch. The main character, John, goes looking for help and finds Claudia's house. She tries to poison him with a pills and then he sees her daughter Molly Ann. Molly Ann vicously attacks him and he manages to get out alive. He runs to the house and warns everyone, but Molly Ann has already made her way into the house, killing off everyone.
In the opening scene, John emerges from a forest covered in blood. He falls and faints in exhaustion. Then he wakes up in a hospital with a psychatrist named Pam Alley who wants to hear his story. He tells most of it, but suffers fro a few memory blocks(mostly with his horrifying experiance at Claudia's house).
Pam also interviews Claudia seperatly from John. Her story is a totally different mood. John portrayed himself as a semi-popular follower of the more popular people. Claudia says that he was the meanest of all the popular people. Many other things differ in their stories and it's clear to Pam that one of them is lying.
