"Sweet scoop popped online today over at Dread Central- Tobe Hooper will be off to shoot a movie now entitled Zombies this June! Not only that but they've got the first look at the ultra cool teaser poster, which can be found inside. Sure I'm thinking zombie movies are being a little overdone, but who says no to Tobe? Not me... "
not the most original movie title, but hey, more horror for us! its been described as deliverance with zombies...

Yeah, the title should be tweaked, but aside from that, this looks cool. The little girl reminds me of...

If the movie evokes as much eeriness as that poster then we should be in for a damn cool zombie flick!

This really is a zombie movie rennaisance , and what better way to keep the party going then to get one of the horror masters to make a zombie film . GR with Land now Hooper with Zombies , it's like the late 70's early 80's all over again . Glad to hear about this , i'm excited about the prospect .
And i'll echo some sentiments , that is one damn fine poster , hoope the film is like that , and it better have some flesh tearing goodness , that's what some recent zom films have been missing .

Awesome poster, although very inspired by NOTLD as pointed out by the count, and if Hooper's finding his directorial form again, as is suggested by the recent Toolbox Murders remake, then I for one am looking forward to this.
There can never be too many zombie movies :D

It is always good news to hear about a new zombie movie in the works. I think there is something inherently frightening about the idea of zombies that just wins me over every time. I mean, think about it - thousands of people infected with a bizarre strain that turns them into mindless killers - and they're all coming to get you. That's pretty scary.
With the success of films like Dawn of the Dead and Resident Evil, I'm hoping we'll see more and more zombie flicks in the future, and hopefully they'll be creative and breathe new life into the genre. We've got Undead and Land of the Dead coming, so it looks like the zombie genre is definitely alive and kicking!
The poster for this movie was damn creepy...I can't wait to find out more about the plot! Hopefully it's not just your standard "mysterious incident causes the dead to come back and a group of people hide and try and survive" type deal. I'm not too terribly familiar with Hooper's work (didn't he do the original TCM?) but I'm hoping for a winner!!
I agree with everyone though, the title is a bit uninspired...
(I just looked at the poster again more closely and saw the Texas Chainsaw...oops...)

I swear that is one of the coolest fucking movie psters ever, I can't wait for it. Even if it sucks I must have that poster.
I agree. This poster has got me wanting more and more of this.

I'm so glad someone has the balls to put the reanimated corpse of a child as the focal point of their zombie poster lol
....seriously though that poster is fucking...wow....its just wow lol
...anyway the title Zombies maybe lame but its got a very John Carpenter's Vampires feel about it lol...obviously

I actually walked past this the videostore today, exctitedly pciked it up, skimmed it over, and i did NOT see tobe hooper's name anywhere on it!! It was a quick skim, and im gonna giveit a looksy tomorow, but yeahh thought it a bit odd. It was a quick skim, but it definatly had some other dude's name for the director. Anywho, it's about some kids used for mining int he ol' days, comin' back for revenge as you guessed it...Fairies!! Should still be interesting.
:p Yes, it's clearly still Zombies, not fairies. Sorry to disapoint you fairy lover's out there!

shit, didn't realise this ended up being "Wicked Little Things", the most boring of the After Dark Horror Fest films
shame Hooper was replaced

Hm, I actually never knew that until now. As soon as I saw this thread re-bumped I thought "what the hell happened to it?". There goes the answer.

Looks like I missed out on all the fun. I didn't even get to see what that teaser poster looked like. Too bad Hooper wasn't involved with it. I have heard mixed things about the After Dark movies to say the least. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

The good news is , the film looks good , from a cinematography / visual standpoint and the acting is serviceable all around , with the standout being the woman who played the lead , but everything else is lacking , the makeup fx , story , gore and the total lack of dread and suspense .
There are some brief moments that make you feel there was a good story in there somewhere , and some scenes that contained some chills , it's just that as a whole i can't recommend this film , maybe , just maybe as a rental .
I wonder if it's anything like what TH was going to do , i don't know , but if it was , i can see why he passed , there's nothing here to get excited about .
Now , it's not terrible , just painfully average , if you don't see this film , you won't be missing out , it's def frustrating , because they set things up nicely and again , the film looks good , nothing really works though , not even for pure zom movie lovers .

Exactly what Dellamorte said. I hired it out and gave it a watch, visually it had the look down perfect, but it's "soul" so to speak had fucked off a long time ago. I mean, it's a shame cause it really did look good. And i hope this wasn't Tooper's original idea/plan for it, i mean you look at the poster and title, pretty sure it has nothing to do with the film "wicked little things" itself lol. They aren't zombies, well, i guess they are but, i'd say more cursed for revenge then zombie zombie. Plus, why didnt anyone bother kicking those kids....i'm pretty sure a 6 yr old would go pretty far, lol. Nah that's harsh, and probably noone's gonna be thinking of doing that cause they're too scared..
I'd recommend it just for it's cinematography, but i'm not sure if that alone jusitfy's a viewing, you could do worse i suppose though.
*edit- my spelling was shite.
