I'm don't know where the best place to slap upcoming horror dvd news up at, so....?? Just putting it here until someone tells me otherwise....and oh, boy, yet another release of Evil Dead 2

--------------------

March 2: Big Anchor Bay DVD update

Fango just got the scoop from a source at Anchor Bay Entertainment regarding new titles, dates and content for the company’s heavy upcoming horror DVD slate. Among the most exciting news is that the Bay has acquired a slew of Mario Bava films for new disc releases in 2006. While these titles have been out on DVD before, the source says, "We’re going to go back and start from scratch, and put together new special editions for each one."

Among these movies will be KIDNAPPED (pictured), the road thriller previously released Stateside in a limited edition titled RABID DOGS before new scenes were added recently by Bava’s son Lamberto; both versions of the film will be part of the disc package.

In addition, there are fresh Divimax releases of EVIL DEAD II and HALLOWEEN 4 and 5, each with brand new special features, on the horizon. The company has picked up BABY BLOOD, Alain Robak’s gruesome French saga of a mother and her bloodthirsty unborn child, and Don Coscarelli’s pre-PHANTASM comedy KENNY & COMPANY, starring PHANTASM’s Michael Baldwin; the latter hits June 14 with a new transfer and special features overseen by the director. The Bay will also issue HORROR 101, its sequel HORROR 102 and MUSEUM OF THE DEAD on a single disc April 19, the same day as its special edition of Stevan Mena’s MALEVOLENCE (see item here). As for previously announced titles, here’s how the schedule looks, with confirmed supplements noted:

May 3:
• THE ENTITY (2.35:1 widescreen, 16x9 enhanced, featurette including backstory on the true events that inspired the film, trailer, poster/still gallery, DVD-ROM screenplay)

May 17:
• CLASS OF 1984 (director Mark Lester’s preferred cut in 1.85:1 widescreen, 16x9 enhanced, new 5.1 audio, commentary by Lester, trailer, TV spot, DVD-ROM screenplay)
• QUICKSILVER HIGHWAY (full-frame, commentary by Mick and Cynthia Garris, interview with Matt Frewer, storyboard gallery, trailers, DVD-ROM teleplay)

June 14:
• FREAKED (1.85:1 widescreen, 16x9 enhanced, new 5.1 audio, commentary, behind-the-scenes material, deleted scenes, still gallery, storyboards, trailer, DVD-ROM screenplay)

June 28:
• RACE WITH THE DEVIL (Divimax hi-def 1.85:1 transfer, commentary by producer Paul Maslansky, interview with Peter Fonda, more)

August 9:
• THE DEAD NEXT DOOR (special features TBA)

Welcome :D Looking to build up my fan base, after all.

Although I'm not sure how the news would be recieved about yet another Evil Dead 2 release? I have seen mention some are ticked about the Halloween 4 and 5 double dips since they originally released the limited edition tins, but hey, might be cool for those who don't own a version

Cemetery man , well i'm legally obligated to purchase that one :) .

Dead next Door , been waiting for an excellent copy of this low bud , backyard zom classic , for years . Will def pick this one up , it's cheesy , it has some excellent gore ( way better than can be expected with this budget ) , a cool story , an epic scope , it was shot on 8mm , the acting is hilarious but effective ( there are some memorable characters in this ) , and one of the characters is dubbed by Bruce Campbell , this thing has it all , i highly recommend it for z budget zombie film lovers , it's easily one of the best you will ever see , a must for my collection .

Season of the Witch , it's Romero , i've never seen it and i'm curious .

The Locals , saw it already , it's decent , but nothing special , best thing about it is it was shot in NZ . Still an entertaining little film , but not a purchase .

Card Player and Trauma , it's Argento , i have to get it . I think Trauma is one of his underappreciated gems from the early 90's , i always liked it , and it's when i fell in lust with Asia Argento , she's terrific in this , plus , the movie has the usual great Argento camerawork and lighting , and an intriguing story , with cool gore fx . Card Player , it sounds good , and looks good , even average DA is better than most young horror directors .

Malevolence , already have it , not too bad , nothing great , and somewhat amateurish , but still an effective horror film that faulters because of it's similarities to other horror films , i would still recommend it as a rental .

Rabid Dogs , not sure about that one , but it sounds cheesy enough to purchase :) .

Others ones i'll have to think about .

I’ve got The Entity on pre-order to replace my VHS. Bernstein’s thumping score should sound pretty good and the documentary should be interesting. All the others I’ll see when the time comes. Does Halloween 4 & 5 really need another disc?

Funny, they didn't mention anything about Evil Dead 2 being another version shaped like the book of the dead. In fact Tom Sullivan gave an interview confirming that he was working on another one of those for the upcoming Evil Dead 2 re release.

Yeah , from what i recall , Entity was one cool ass , scary as hell , hidden gem horror movie from the 80's . You want to talk about movies that are more effective because you dont see anything , this is the perfect expample of what you don't see is scarier than some guy in a mask , or gore .

Never thought a movie could unsettle like Entity did without showing anything , its a must buy for me , and anyone who likes ghost stories .

And as a nice bonus , Hershey gets all hot and bothered for your viewing pleasure :) .
