So, Bloody-Disgusting just posted a review that really made me want to see the film. Apparently the first half of the film drags a bit ("too much character developtment") but then once the action really starts it never stops. Great kills, good acting and the **POTENTIAL SPOILER killers (twin killers with different personalities; I didn't know that) are amazing. Sounds great to me. I'm there may 6.

Dread Central have a review up as well, they said around the same thing but gave it a higher rating.

I'll only see it if Paris Hilton gets it good, and I don't mean that in terms of sex.

Well AxeGrinder, I don't think you have to worry, apparently Paris gets it real good. And I mean in terms of death... and sex.

I don't think we're supposed to know that there are two killers. If it's not a heavy-duty spoiler, fine, but please proceed with caution when relaying plot information.

it's getting to the point where i'm afraid to click anything on this site anymore , links to trailers that don't exist , spoilers galore , jesus christ , man , wouldn't a little twist like that scream twist . Mind as well give away the ending to psycho for the people that haven't seen it . I still want to see this , because it does look excellent , a nice suprise that i really didn't care about until i saw more footage . It looks like Tourist Trap on steroids mixed with Texas 03 , but it looks like now , what could have been one of the " shocking " moments of the film , besides Paris Hilton reciting lines effectively , is rendered nul and void . Please , some mod or whoever delete the post to prevent other shmoes from getting shafted . this place is turning into spoiler central without warnings .

meh, apart from Elisha Cuthbert being part of the cast i have no interest in this, especially since i now know how it ends, ill just wait for it to turn up on tv

Harry Warden

Hell there are pictures of the two killers together on Yahoo....there is a clip online showing Elisha Cuthbert getting her finger cut off by the normal looking killer and the trailer is full of the mask wearing one...

You can even see both in the trailer...One have a shotgun, the other has knives.

No spoiler in there for sure!

I'd probably be interesting in this film, but Paris Hilton is in it. I don't know if I can stand watching it... even if she does "get it good".

Same here, I refuse to spend money on anything with Paris Hilton in it. Unless it was a snuff film.

EXACTLY! I am an Independent filmmaker and I have given up my entire life to be in the business I love. Paris is a disgusting, untalented, muppet looking snobby bitch that has NO business even being alive.

I am against everything people like her and her fans stand for and I will NEVER support her or anything she participates in.

Just saw HOUSE OF WAX a little while ago. It was exactly what I thought it would be -- a total blast. Easily Dark Castle's best effort yet. Contrary to popular belief, Paris Hilton is actually okay. Her confrontation with the killer was intense, and she did really good during that scene. The gore was CRAZY! I wasn't expecting it to go as far as it did. I can't go into details (so as not to spoil it), but it was pretty red and gooey. Although it did march into Texas Chainsaw territory, there were still some pretty cool distinguishes from the rest of the "isolated group of young people encounter killer family" outings. Some of the deaths are ones to be remembered, Ms. Hilton's being the definite highlight. When she bit it, everyone clapped and cheered. The director even relishes what he's done to her in the film (you'll hafta see ;)). I'd give it a 7/10. It has it's share of cliches, but a strong dose of thrills, gore, and fun.

I just cannot take this movie seriously with Paris Hilton in it.

Looks liek another I know what you did last summer to me. PASS.

Paris Hilton is the only factor keeping me from getting too excited about this thing , she's going to be a major distraction , prob overshadowing all the other elements . Yeah it will be funny to see her get " offed " in a horror film , but it's more stunt casting than something that will actually add to the narrative .

Does the film really need her , not at all , it was obviously the suits decision to tap into the audience that's obsessed with her , i'm not one of them , but i'd still like to see it . I don't even think i would want to own this film because of her casting . I don't want to own some dvd with Paris Hilton's name on the box ( insert snicker here ) .

Oh well , it does look like we will get a cool , throwback , highly stylized gorefest , and i can't complain about that , they are few and far between . It's either goreless Pg 13 nonsense now , or R rated films that don't take advantage of the higher rating . Texas Chainsaw 03 wasn't nearly as gory as it could have been , or should have been to cite an example of a missed opportunity in that department and Boogeyman is an example of a Pg 13 horror movie joke . House of Wax looks to bring back that goodness , if only Hilton wasn't around to spoil the proceedings , that's really the only drawback i can see , judging from the trailers .

I can say that if they had casted someone other than Paris Hilton, her death would not be nearly as sweet as it was. Everyone says they hate her so much, and she's what's keeping them from seeing the movie, GO IF ONLY TO SEE HER DIE!! It's great, trust me!!

"House of Wax"
***
Here is the movie from Dark Castle Productions, a company who exclusively makes modern suspense/horror movies. Unfortunately, only one of those movies ("House on Haunted Hill") has been even remotely good. But with "House of Wax," Dark Castle delivers what we all expect from a movie like this: suspense, teens being led to the slaughter, leads to root for, gore, a little sex and a fun hour and a half. So it actually is a "reimagining" of the 1953 original, not a remake.
Six friends are on their way to a college football game when a detour leads them into the woods. Then into an abandoned town. Thats not on any map or radar. And everything is made of wax. And it all gets worse from there. "House of Wax" doesn't break any new ground for horror movies, but it does deliver the aforementioned goods. We get a bevy of gross out moments and good suspense, as well as two leads (Elisha Cuthbert and Chad Michael Murray) to cheer for.
Speaking of the two leads, Murray plays the misunderstood guy role pretty wel, and Cuthbert is her usual charming self. And for those that are turned off by the appearance of Paris Hilton, fear not. She is here in only small doses and she fits her role. Of course the usual horror movie cliches are here (loud music with fake scares, characters sporting the IQ's of furniture) and you can telegraph who is going next. Yet "House of Wax" never bores and keeps us interested despite its slower pace. There isn't any "MTV" style editing which is refreshing. The old horror formula works here and they stick to it. Add in some cool kills and relatively swift runtime, and the good far outweighs the bad.
For a friday night film that is supposed to entertain you, you can do worse than "House of Wax." Sit down, turn off your brain and gasp in shock and awe at the movie. Not at any of the scares, but that there is still a place where gas is $1.19 (even if it doesnt show up on your GPS and is made of wax).

Fuck me,

too many people stuck on Paris Hilton. What! you think this was a Paris production, made to promote Paris? It's a fucking remake that just happens to have Paris in it...C'mon people if your basing your entire review on the fact that Paris happens to be in the film then if bias was a lotto win you would all be millionaires.[

I expected alot worse....

The film ended up being pretty good.....Nice kills, a kool killer and a great...GREAT setting.

The film is too long though.....Too much character devlopment( YES I MEAN THAT). It's a slasher for Pete's sake....who cares about their childhood, jobs, occupations, hobbies, crimes they did.....They are simply there to : Strip, run, cry, scream, die.

That's it....

Best moment in the film is the part with the wax twins statue getting cut in half....Awesome symbolism there,

well "kocko" I dont understand you quoting me and getting all sassed because i hate Paris. Why would you defend her? EVERYONE knows she is vastly untalented and ugly and has no business being famous and being any any type of film. I have every right to hate her and hate any production that has her in it. Obviously, the filmmakers arent serious about the genre because they didnt cast her for her "talent" but they casted her for name recognition alone to target her fans (i will never understand why she even has a fanbase, why would people support/defend her)

I KNOW I KNOW, that happens alot, casting on name recognition. Not in my films baby. I'll just be a poor pathetic starving Independent filmmaker all my life then, I would NEVER put her in a role if she paid me a million dollars. I guess its pride in my work, my art.

SECOND of all, I hate remakes of the classic horror films we all grew up loving. So even if she wasnt in it, I still wouldnt watch it.

Did any of you read the interview with her on the main page of this site? When comparing this film to the original she says stuff like "Ours is way hotter? I'm hotter than vinv=cent price" among other annying things

AAAGAGAAHH sorry everyone..i just hate Paris so bad. Thanks for letting me vent:D

Harry, you and I must be thinking about 2 totally different Paris Hilton's, because the one I saw in House of Wax looks to me like her fucking neck regurgitated all over her shoulders....

To each his own.

I wouldn't touch her with a ten foot pole( she's a skank)....but she's still very hot IMHO!

I'm a little surprised that no one is mentioning Tourist Trap , this film looks to follow that story more closely than either of the other House films . Same set up , some teens get stranded in a remote town inhabited with mannequins instead of wax figures , but it looks to be the same exact film , with the usual updates obviously .

SPOILERS LIE HERE.......

House of Wax-D+

Wow, that was lame. The cons so far outweigh the pros in this movie that I can only name the most glaring cons:

PROS:
-Chad Michael Murray. Despite myself, I really liked him. Although I have trouble believing no one before him thought of just beating the shit out of the twins.

-Wade dies first. I really thought Blake or Dalton would get it first, but it was a good choice to have Wade go first, and in such a relentlessly gruesome and torturous way.

CONS:
-Neither of the plot twists are relevant AT ALL. So what if the disfigured one used to be good?

-The whole "I'm here just to die" aspect of Blake, Paige, and Dalton was more blatant than in most horror movies.

-Honestly, Wade is so stupid it's unbelievable. I seriously could not believe that someone could be that stupid.

-Wow, all it took to stop the evil masterminds was...winning a fucking fistfight. A bit anticlimactic, no?

I'm probably being extra-hard on this flick because it's been a while since I saw a modern horror flick at the theatre...but damn. This was so stupid.

House of Wax....featuring Paris Hilton?
Wow! Hollywood has really got their shit together huh...

The title is appropriate since Ms. Hilton once again sheds her clothes for the camera and the guys who cant get any 'punanny'!~ No wonder they call it the 'House of Wax'...

Minor Spoilers...!

I think a lot of people are being extra hard on this movie because of Paris Hilton being cast in it. To be honest, she didn't even phase me, as she is barely in the movie, and her big part in it is her death.

I thought House of Wax was good fun for an afternoon matinee experience. By no means will it be adding anything spectacularly innovative to the horror genre, but it was still worth a few scares. Plus, the ending was pretty amazing.

The denoument was a bit stale, and you could see it coming from a bazillion miles away, but other than that, pretty solid. Wrong Turn did the teens-being-chased-by-killers thing better, but I got some enjoyment out of this. The kills were pretty brutal.

Seeing Wade's face getting ripped off was just SICK.

Anywho, those are my two cents...Feel free to disagree. Most people usually do. :)
