I read in SF Chronicle that California Schools & Libraries are goin to receive Free Cd's of these following artists...

(not to bore you with the article heres a summary)

106 copies of Ricky Martin's Sound Loaded
91 copies of the compilation "Feelin Groovy"
81 copies of Jessica Simpson's Irresistible
73 copies of Yolanda Adams Christmas Album

The full story is actually of more interest than the list of CDs


The reason they are giving out the free CDs is as part of an anti-trust lawsuit California did against record companies for price fixing. Now, there are complaints because the CDs seem to be nothing but the record companies overstock. For instance, one library got like several copies of Ricky Martin, but only one single copy has been put out of a Louis Armstrong record to one single place.

It makes no sense for a library to get 60 copies of a CD, and as was mentioned many of the CDs were ill-suited for academics.
