I've loved Stevie's music for most of my life, Songs in the Key of Life being one of my all-time favourite albums, but it's only recently, having being brought the Definitive Collection as a gift that I've fully realised his brilliance. There isn't a single song by him I don't like, but the only UK #1 he's had is "I Just Called To Say I Love You", just shows how shite the charts are!

What do you people think of Little Stevie? What are your favourite Stevie songs of all time?

My top 20:

1. Lately
2. I Don't Know Why (I Love You)
3. Part Time Lover
4. My Cherie Amour
5. Sir Duke
6. If You Really Love Me
7. I Ain't Gonna Stand For It
8. Overjoyed
9. Isn't She Lovely
10. I Wish
11. Do I Do
12. As
13. He's Misstra Know-It-All
14. We Can Work It Out
15. Superstition
16. Ebony & Ivory (with Paul McCartney)
17. For Your Love
18. Uptight (Everything's Alright)
19. Masterblaster (Jammin')
20. Pastime Paradise

I Just Called... doesn't even feature in my top 20! Shocking that it's the only of his hits to top the UK Charts!

Cheeky,

Nice thread for us Stevie lovers. Props.

As for me... God, where to begin? It's difficult to put them in any kind of order, I love just about everything he does, but picking favorites usually has to do with my mood that day.

Here's my best effort:

1. Place In The Sun
2. I Wish
3. Superstition
4. My Cherie Amour
5. Isn't She Lovely
6. Heaven Help Us All
7. Sir Duke
8. Knocks Me Off My Feet
9. Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing
10. Heaven is 10 Zillion Miles Away
11. We Can Work It Out
12. Blowin' In The Wind
13. Pastime Paradise
14. Do I Do
15. He's Misstra Know It All
16. As
17. Living For The City
18. Send One Your Love
19. Sunshine Of My Life

Aaaah, listening to Stevie now.

I Don't Know Why (I Love You) has just been on, I felt my heart skip a beat...and now it's Pastime Paradise, which is quite frankly, KILLER funk-soul fusion.

The man is just the master. It's easy to forget what a unique talent he actually is.

Edited because my brain went wrong.

Fully agree with Twisted Sister, my favourite song by Mr. Wonder usually depends entirely on what mood I'm in in the morning.

Listened to I Don't Know Why (I Love You) and it fired me up for what may be a tumultuous day out with the missus!

He's done so much stuff, it truly is impossible to adhere to a top twenty. Surely, it will be a-movin' and a-shakin' all over the gaff!

P.S. Has anyone seen Stevie Wonder's wife?

I know that joke really is bad taste, but it's not as though he's gonna read it!

To be honest, I haven't heard much of his seventies stuff - but I happened upon a HEAP of records from when he was younger and they're all fucking great. A place in the Sun is definitely a keeper of an album. he was like - fourteen, or something.

I know I shouldn't, but LMFAO..... How old is that joke? Still it made me giggle. :D

I like Stevie, always knew his records, but Miss CoverVersion introduced me to a lot of stuff I'd never really heard before. In fact she always leaves a Stevie CD at mine for when she visits. Many a night we have gigged along to his music, happy days.....:p
