Not a bad sequel at all...I enjoyed the cast in this one and the plot made sense of a sorts. The son of Frankenstein and his wife returns to the original town where 'Frankenstein' was born, determined to shrug off the reputation of his father and make a respectable name for himself. However, he finds his father's lab and work and decides to get too curious again, meeting the monster and his 'companion', the sly Igor (Bela Lugosi) Frankensteins personality has been altered somewhat, though, so it's not like watching the same creature prance around. I enjoyed the investigator as one of the best parts.

Anyone else see this?

This one is almost as good as the first 2. The story is good and the movie keeps a steady pace. Ygor was a good edition since the monster doesnt talk anymore, it gives the movie a little more depth. The castle was really cool, to bad they dont build them anymore it would be neat to live in.

When I watched the first 3 films Young Frankenstein would pop into my head at times. Especially when the invesitgator from Son of.. was on screen.

Despite the fact that James Whale wasn't involved in this one, 'Son of Frankenstein' is one of my favorite Universal monster movies. The Frankenstein series was fortunate to have many of the best sequels, with perhaps the greatest sequel of them all – 'Bride of Frankenstein.' But 'Son' is right up there and holds its own with its predecessors in my opinion. The addition of Ygor (played brilliantly by Bela Lugosi) and Karloff's swan song as the monster make this a classic in every sense. The Frankenstein movies would never be quite as good after this one, although 'Frankenstein Meets the WolfMan' is one of my all-time favorites. 'Son of Frankenstein' is worth checking out for those who haven't seen it yet. Where the original 'Frankenstein' and it's sequel both get four stars from me, I would give 'Son' three stars. Still a very, very good movie though.

I agree man, Young Frankenstein took a lot from this movie! The inspector with his wooden hand, the sequence were they play darts while talking about the creature....many many sequences from this movie were the direct inspiration for Brooks and Wilder.

Great flick I enjoyed it a lot! Specially Igors character played by Lugosi, what a crooked and evil character, I loved how he looked atop that window with just his face showing.

Actually, these is my favorite of the three "Frankenstein" films with Boris Karloff, as the Monster. You not only get Karloff, but you also get Basil Rathbone, Bela Lugosi, and Lionel Atwill. You can't go wrong with that.
