Great, now my fave slasher is getting redone... Part of it's charm was it's slightly-dated, very 80's feel. This bullshit has got to stop! Anyone else have feelings on this?

This remake craze is seriously getting out of hand. I mean, I believe some films should remain sacred and not tampered with. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a prime example of brilliant filmmaking that should remain as is and not tampered with. What's next? A remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street? I don't know what this world is coming to, but it appears that there are no original ideas left, so movie execs are forced to remake the classics. It's just plain ridiculous.
I've always been a fan of The House on Sorority Row and my jaw dropped when I saw this thread. It's just insane. Where did you hear about this anyways?

Dread Central posted an article on it the other day. I'd also heard about it a while ago from some other site (I can't remember which one). Here's what DC had to say:
Enter Harbinger Pictures, producer Jeff Ritchie (Cookers), Don Dunn and David Bond's (Reeker) new banner under which they intend to pump out flicks that "recreate the atmosphere and wonder of the classic horror film." Sounds good. So what do they got in store for us fans?
At the moment Ritchie is at work on a remake of Mark Rosman's House on Sorority Row. Rolf Kanefsky (The Hazing) was reportedly working on a redux of his own last fall. What became of those plans is unknown. Regardless, Harbinger's all over it and they promise a "complete re-imagining of the story" (as is the case with most remakes we're seeing these days). Next up for the company will be a Native American shapeshifting flick called The Fort Kent Massacre then a Mario Bava remake. Harbinger's keeping mum on what classic Bava project they intend to retool.

Wasn't House On Sorority Row already remade and renamed I Know What You Did Last Summer? Well, HOSR and Prom Night mixed together.

Good call!
Well, I always said Kevin Williamson is one of the most unoriginal hack writers ever granted a script deal. Everything he's ever done is derived from something else. And then, to try and disguise his unoriginality, he makes in-your-face references to the movies he's ripping off (like by just slipping the titles in the dialogue) as a way of covering up. Or, calling Scream a parody because he knew it was the most trite concept for a slasher film. Parody? Come on! What a joke. Scary Movie? That's a parody. Student Bodies? That's a parody. Scream is just a poor excuse for a horror film.

Glad to see that there are so many fans of the film. My Aunt and Uncle and a Cousin of mine worked on this flick. John Clark, Ana-Victoria Aenlle Clark, and Susan Perez.. Susan was in a bunch of the photos that hung on the wall.. And I am unsure about the remake.. hmmmmm.
