The title says it all, which film do you prefer?
ThereWolf would have to go with;
Apocalypse Now, a far superior film!

Although I love PLATOON, APOCALYPSE NOW is by far the best war film in movie history.

Yeah, but the real question should be WHAT VERSION OF APOCALYPSE NOW DO YOU LIKE?
Because Platoon is trully inferior.

I love the old version(s). The new one is the true masterpiece but it was really hard to watch...
IT is that simple:

Apocalypse now 9/10
Platoon 8/10
Apocalypse now redux 10/10

I too prefer Apocalypse Now Redux more than the original. That version is arguably the best war film of all time. The original Apocalypse Now lost a bit of the power elicited when I viewed it a second time. I failed to hit the right note on the head. So I disagree most definitely that the original is the "greatest" war film of all time. Number one, because it exagerrated the "craziness" of Vietnam. I talked to my Dad who is a Vietnam vet, and he hates the film, like other vets. The main reason being, that it fictionally portrays the image and psychological hell of Vietnam. Whether this is really true, I don't know. The only way to find out is to experience the war yourself, but most of us never have and never will. I like it as a film, but it is a little "out there", if you ask me, and that is the main reason why I like it, but according to my father, it is not the kind of atmosphere that was really there in Vietnam. If you count the Redux version, I'll go with that, over Platoon.

Platoon-10/10
Apocalypse Now-10/10

Both in my top 100 films of all time...but Platoon is in my top 10...so my vote goes to Platoon.

i liked apocalypse now more...but platoon was very good too. i liked the original apocalypse now, instead of the redux because the redux is much longer, much more drought out, and we know why the scenes coppola took out were taken out

Ford Coppola's masterpiece Apocalypse Now by a long shot. This is my number one film of all time. It shows the terrible things that war does to men, and what it can make them do. Truly a masterpiece.
