 Hello Everyone,
I am new here, and have a question I hope you guys can help me with.
Back in October, it was announced that there would be another remake of "The Blob", set for release in 2006. Yet there has been no director, writer, or actors attached as of yet. And I was just wondering if anyone has heard any news about it.
I personally feel the 1988 version has aged well, and it is still one of my favorite horror movies of the 80's. I admire any movie that has the balls to kill off the annoying and bratty kid. (And I hope someday Arrow will review it, to get his take on it.) But anyway, even with my respect for the film, I would be curious to see how a new version would look. With today's technology, and everything.
So, I am also curious how others felt about this remake. If it's still even happening.
Look Out For,

Supposedly, the Hayes brothers, writers of HOUSE OF WAX and the upcoming THE REAPING -- both for Dark Castle, are scripting it. I dunno if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but in some interview with them, they said that THE BLOB is one of their upcoming projects.

The only thing that gets me ticked is how the Blob will most likely be CG. Maybe there will be some practicals for close-ups and whatnot. But I am interested in seeing what they do with this in the new millennium. In the 50's, it was an alien, in the 80's, a germ warfare project. What could it be today?

Anyway, I really like the 88 version of Blob, it had some really creative and gory deaths. I would've welcome a sequel more than another remake though.

The 80's Blob wasn't bad (although I didn't love it), and even though I'm not the biggest remake cheerleader, seeing another version wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. The story is cool in a cheesy and old fashioned science fiction way, but I don't know if the remake is needed....then again, which of them really were? :(

Probably! The 80's version showed how evil the US government was, so I wouldn't be surprised if this time around they made it to be the hero in true post-911 fashion.

i'd really be disappointed in this news being anything true, as the 80s version did more then enough for me and it was solid enough to NOT warrant a remake....
Just play it safe like the old days and have the damn blob come from space. Shit, the old movie was awesome. it scared me when I saw it as a young tyke. The one with the Dillon dude was cool too, but they had to have it be the government's fault. Cooler deaths in that one, but a dumb plot. Play smart, do what John Carpenter did to the remake of the Thing. Still have it come from space. I know the government is one scary being, but nothing can be scary than a Blob From Outer Space!
