Dead Life (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/dead_life/)

I saw this title at the video store the other day and hadn't heard anything about it. Has anyone seen this, and/or could direct me to any reviews of it if any have been posted? I did a search of the forum and couldn't find any, but then again, maybe I didn't do it properly.

I think I heard somewhere that someone's genitalia gets munched off, but that's nothing new when you compare it to that infamous scene in "Burial Ground: Nights Of Terror" (aka "Notti del terrore, Le"). :D

Cheers.

I've seen it before in a video store but I didn't pick it up. It looks super corny.

I've never seen this (after putting DEATH FACTORY on in the background, I think I've had my fill of Brain Damage for this millennium), but it rents out quite often at the store I work at, as do most of the horror DVD's.

I just rented it last night, stay away. I usually give Brain Damage films a chance because thier poor but this was just ridiculous. IT was shot on super 8 it's never in focus, on the back it said "not rated this movie contians graphic violence, gore, laungue, full nudity, and bondage scenes" it had NONE of them. The zombie girl biting the guys cock and that was the 1 half way decent scenes, definatly not good enough to sit through. I'm serious do not let your curiousity get the best of you. Stay away. There are no zombies in it that look like the cover.

You got that right, I've had the misfortune of renting a few of thier pain parades. They give a bad name to guerilla filmmaking and substandard doesnt even begin to describe what 'Brain Damage Films' produces.

The Bottom line:

They seem to have the resources, but very little to show for it. No real effort is made to produce a quality horror film. Shooting too fast and very cheap and it shows, you get the feeling these guys shoot everything in one take and dont have any real idea of what the hell they are doing.

"Carnage": The Legend of QuiltFace, which was a poor mans 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' with a dash of 'The Hills Have Eyes'...what a joke! Bad can't describe what this steaming plie of shit was!

I can only imagine how 'QuiltFace' came about...

(A phone call between a couple of guys at Brain Damage Films')

...One saturday morning!

Dude #1- Yo dude, whats up?

Dude #2- Nothing.

Dude # 1- Want to make a cool horor movie?

Dude#2- COOL...Ill grab my camera and a six pack!

dude#1-Now you're talking!

well said and very true dead one. Like I said above I think Brain Damage just used up it's last chance. Hopefully no one else here has had to be tortured by the Zombie Chronicles yet.

lmao, the description and review you give make me want to avoid this one at all costs, but that one scene alone sounds very interesting. Care to describe it in detail? Is that the only flesh munching scene in the movie?

No it's not the only one flesh biting scene in it, theres acouple but it's like the typical skin strech and blood comes out. That makes it sound ok, trust me it's not, theres one in particular that I guess the fake skin messed up and it stretched out like 2 feet and they didn't redo the shot or anything. It was kinda funny.

But yeah the cock biting scene was about the only thing worth anything in the movie and even it wasn't great. Heres the scene. A guy comes into a house looking for someone, hears something going on in another room. Opens the doos and sees this girl zombie eating someone, and she bent down in front of it and you see her ass and the unzips his pants and starts going to town, now I read somewhere else that this was qoute "the most disturbing sex scene ever recorded" when all they show is the guys face and you can tell his moving alot and theres death metal playing, I guess those people have never seen Deliverance. But anyway I guess he gets done and stands up the zombie girl gets and and faces him and then starts lowering. You see him holding this little fake penis that looks like a prop from the band Gwar and shes in front of it and then just takes a bite out of the side of it like corn on the cob and he screams and we all laugh.

I think I may have even made it sound better then it is. I'll say this if you ever get the chance to see it for free and have time to kill watch that scene then turn it off. And I stree the word IF, don't make any real effort here.

LOL! Thanks again for the detailed scene! Just one more question, does he die and turn into a zombie or is that the end of it?

I think he turns up later as a zombie for a breif second. You want to hear a an even funnier thing about it. I should have warned for anyone else but SPOILERS HERE! The way the zombies spread is one of the first ones bleeds into the water supply, which is fine by me, but its the way they did it. Now all they had to do was show the zombie fall into the water show the blood flowing from him and show a sign that says "city water supply or something. But instead they show the zombie fall and the blood flow then no joke they cut this "cgi" and I say it like that because calling it that is a stretch. The literally looks like graphics from an Atari 2600 and I'm not saying that as a joke it looks just like it of this very pixelized black thing moving towards this little hole in the wall (it's supposed to represent his blood flowing through a big pipe) this is by far, and again no joke, the absolute worst "computer" effect I have ever seen. No just in movies either, I think I've seen better CGI in paper towel commercials. That scene almost had me spit my drink out.

omg, all of this sounds so bad (like MSTK3 bad), that is almost spikes my curiosity to see it. I mean, I would seriously fast forward through most of it, but some of these hilariously bad scenes (namely the inept "CGI" effects) make this sound like a laugh riot.

Like I said before if you got to rent it for free and you literally had NOTHING else to do or watch then I would say watch those 2 scenes and take it out. Yes thsoe 2 scenes were funny but really not enough to rent. The fact that I found another message board that people love this movie and I have to ask them if they ahve seen ANY other zombie movie? I should say any other movie. I mean it's shot on 16mm and is NEVER in focus.
