We may have to put the conversation from Clerks in here! IMHO, the best Star Wars film is The Empire Strikes Back. It has everything: a more mature atmosphere than the others, yet a strong sense of adventure, a more involved, creative plot (especially in the Dagobah scenes), great acting and directing, superb visual effects, and a little guy named Yoda!

I've always considered Return of the Jedi my favorite, but after a recent rewatch of the trilogy, I liked Empire Strikes Back the most. Perhaps because of its dark themes and such a poweful ending, it's the best IMO. But I always have enormous difficulties putting them into any order, or grading them, since I love 'em all, and I just see the trilogy as one long movie split in three. The Phantom Menace however I felt was distant from the spirit and fun of the original three, and I didn't like it a whole lot.

2. The Phantom Meance
3. A New Hope
4. Return Of The Jedi


In two weeks I will update this list, adding Attack Of The Clones. Where Will It Be On The List?

The Holiday special is hard to get through unless the actual characters are on screen. But when the characters were on it was fun...and the cartoon where Boba Fett was introduced was great.

I don't remember the two Ewok movies at all.

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK by a mile. Dark, symbolic, great story, great sights, Yoda, and great acting. I sometimes imagine it would have been even better if Tim Burton had directed it (ok, ok, I'm dreamin', but still), but Irvin Kershner did a great job.

I don't think we'll ever agree when it comes to Star Wars, Dumb-Fokker. Now, I know a case can be made to say that TPM is overrated, but The Empire Strikes Back? How could you possibly say that's overrated? It's my #2 (possibly #3) movie of all-time!

And the acting in the original Star Wars movies is often forgotten. There was some damn good acting in there. Especially Harrison Ford, who was great, especially in ESB, and he actually pulled some great acting out of Carrie Fisher, too...

I liked The Phantom Menace the best with Empire in close second.
Maybe it was the fact that it was the first Star Wars movie i ever saw and had nothing to judge it on before hand but i found it to be a wildly imaginitve ride.

Its funny too because there were several parts where i was like, gah! terrible! But i loved so much of the movie for its sense of freedom and originality.

Plz dont kill me..:)

Im really hoping the duel in Ep3 is a cross between the Mual/obi fight with high flying action and the ESB fight with the banter between the two while the clash.
