Ok, so am I right in saying there is no longer an unrated DvD, just an R rated DvD that has both versions on it?

Yeah that`s what they said a while ago JayWolf.........but now I`m hearing rumors that the DVD coming out this Tuesday (Jun. 7th) will be the R-rated version only.
I checked Amazon.com, and there was NO listing for an unrated DVD.....only the R-rated.
WTF IS GOING ON!!!!
If they release it as R-rated only, and then release the Unrated version a few months later, I am gonna be PISSED!!!!!! I HATE it when they pull that kind of crap!
If anyone has a definete answer on this, PLEASE let us know!!!

Check the official Seed of Chucky site. It talks of the Unrated/NC-17 cut being on the DVD along with a whole bunch of other extras.

Hmmmm...okay. It just seems a little strange that Amazon doesn`t have the Unrated version to order.

When does seed of chucky come out on DVD? I never even remember it being in theaters. I remember about TWO advertisements for the movie. But I never saw it.

I'll be watching the unrated version TONIGHT. Ha! I'm not expecting much, but I'm looking forward to it more than I thought I would.

Yeah, at the store I work at, we got R-rated fullscreen and unrated widescreen editions. I picked up the R version, since I'm something of a purist when it comes to seeing a movie as it was released in theatres.

Well, judging from the banner ad I just saw here at AITH, I guess the Unrated version WILL be out this Tuesday!

As long as you know what you`re getting into (i.e. a ribald black comedy that doesn`t even pretend to be 'horror'), you should like it. Personally, I loved it - I even saw the thing twice in theaters. Glen is an instant classic character and a great addition to the doll family, and this one has some great quotes:
CHUCKY: "I swear, SHE came on to ME!!!!!"
GLEN: "Is Mommy ill?"
CHUCKY: "The courts seemed to think so."
However it should be said that my Chucky-loving friend (who loved "Bride") did NOT like it very much. So who knows.
P.S. - Nice to see you again count, I don`t visit the boards very often anymore.

Well, something came up, so I probably won't watch it tonight. I'll get to it tomorrow.

Same here, dude. You don't have to visit the boards, but you could at least return my goddamn phone calls. You never answered my question - will you go out with me or not???

Huh? That statement confuses me...
You're a "purist", and want to see what was "released in theaters", but you get the "full screen" version? That makes no sense. I know what you mean, but logically, to me, watching "full screen" is NOT what was shown in theaters... anywho...
Yea, I've got the Unrated WS version. Hated the movie, but what the hell... I'll watch it again.

SEED OF CHUCKY
Genre: Horror/Comedy
Synopsis: Everyone’s favorite killer doll learns that he is the father of a gender-bender named Glen (or Glenda).
Pros: I labeled this as a horror/comedy hybrid, but it’s virtually a distilled comedy. This isn’t a horror flick in the traditional sense, and it’s not out to scare anyone. Its chief priority is to make you laugh, and I, for one, laughed quite a bit. “Seed of Chucky” is serried with squalid gags and outlandish gore (the beheading rocked!). If you dig Chucky and his anterior adventures, “Seed’s” brand of funhouse shocks will tickle you blood red.
Cons: To me, this didn’t feel like a “Child’s Play” film. Its loose, campy tone is too far removed from the franchise’s anchored approach to the material. Yeah, “Bride of Chucky” was tongue-in-cheek, but “Seed” doesn’t keep its lunacy in check. And for a Fully Extended cut (I watched the unrated version), this bloody burlesque seems awfully short. Writer/director Don Mancini should have spent less time in the editing room.
Supplementary Material: The unrated cut bequeaths two commentary tracks, a body bag full of featurettes, an interview with Chucky, a slide show, and lots more to our DVD players.

Whaa? I heard the theatrical version sucked. That is why I always get a R-rated movie uncut because I want to see in its purest form. When it is R-Rated, the director has to make cuts in order to get the R-rating. That really brings down the film. I mean, look at Cursed.

Well, Cursed was cursed for entirely different reasons (yeah, I'm only the 2,456,453rd person to use that line). Dimension, in their infinite wisdom (ie.= their stupidity) basically tortured Craven into cutting and reshooting the movie until it became an intelligible mess. Just another example of why studios know dick all what they're doing when they're 'rescuing' a film.

Also, Seed of Chucky was released in November, and not October, like Saw and The Grudge was. It had a horrid box office because nobody wanted to see a scary film. They wanted to see a Oscarbait film.

I know, it wouldn't be as confusing if Universal had just released the R-rated cut in widescreen too. But in this case, the fullscreen R cut is the closest I could get to seeing the movie that was shown in theatres contentwise, even though the aspect ratio's not the same.
I've made exceptions to this rule in some cases. I saw the unrated SOUL PLANE DVD by accident, but after watching it, I wasn't tempted to go back and watch the R-rated video we got at work. ;)

I don't think Seed was supposed to feel like a "Child's PlAY" Film. Once Child's PLay 3 ended, the "Child" Aspect was done. Andy's story was over. Bride was supposed to go in a different and focus even more on Chucky's Goal. With Andy out of the picture the movies can focus more on Chucky then before. Bride and Seed are not Child's Play movies, they are "Chucky" movies and if another movie is made, their can be 2 trigoleys-A "Child's Play" and "Chucky" Child's PLay is over, it's Chucky's time to shine.

I got the DVD. Aside from an extra scene at the end, I don`t see what`s so different about this "extended" version.
Pretty well-done DVD though.

Good point. It's just that I'm starting to miss the horror-leaning chapters. Seed was whimsical, but it's the second worst Chucky romp behind CP3 (in my high-falutin' opinion).

I think "Seed" is just about equal to "Bride"....but I`m the only one who seems to think so. And I know I`ll catch hell for this, but I like "Bride" & "Seed" both better than ALL three of the original "Child`s Play" movies. I just think Chucky works much better as comedy than as horror.

CP3 is my least favorite also (it's also Don Mancini's least favorite). CP3 could of went so much further with it's setting (Seed could of too) But i liked Bride the best of them all.
Seed was a sick and wild ride. That's why i liked it. I had a blast watching it. But like CP3 it could of taking it's setting further and i wish Chucky did more Solo killing. But i had loads of fun with it.
My ratings:
Child's Play-8/10
Child's Play 2-8/10
Child's Play 3-6/10
Bride of Chucky-9/10
Seed of Chucky-8/10

Speaking of which, did anyone notice the movie starts with a "movie-within-a-movie" concept.....and then totally abandons it?

Yeah i noticed it. I think the Budget stopped them from going further into anything. This flick had the lowest budget of the series and if they had more then i think this film would been even more solid. I would of loved to see Chucky kill everyone making the movie about him and Tiffany. Ah, what could of been.

I'll ask it in here does anyone think this movie is worth a blind buy? I haven't seen it but I was going to pick it up anyway.

Actually, I'm glad the movie abandoned it. It was not the focus of the film at all. It was just a device so that Chucky and Tiffany could come back but they did it in a way where it integrated well into the movie without feeling like a device. If they had taken the movie-within-a-movie thing further though, it would have really weighed down the film and muddled the actual idea of the movie.
Although, I must admit I would have loved to have seen Tiffany stalk Debbie Carrington. It seemed like a cool idea.
Also Elgyn, you're not alone on your feelings of Seed. I loved it to death. I think it plays right up there with Bride. Hell, in all honesty, I think I enjoyed it even more than Bride.
By the way, Elgyn... In the Unrated cut, didn't you notice that a below-the-waist shot of Chucky doing his thing was included? I only ask because you didn't mention it at all. I know when I saw that, it made me laugh even harder than it did when I saw the movie in the theaters 4 times.

I didn`t realize it at first, but yeah, you`re right, that wasn`t in the theater version. I love how Chucky laughs maniacally while he`s jerking-off.:D
Also, the Tony Gardner scene was more graphic in the unrated cut I think.
And am I nuts or does Glen have a Tim Burton-ish look to him?
