From DigitalBits:
Aliens vs. Predator is also being given more elaborate special edition treatment at the studio, and you can likely expect an official announcement on that in the next month or two.

The double disc release we got seemed pretty special enough. It's one of the few DVDs I actually thought had too many features. Most of them are short featurettes about how they did the Alien puppet effects.

The region 2 edition had this and the option to play the "special edition" (with the new begining) or "theatrical edition" (without new begining) which was a little odd considering it was such a small inclusion. Why that scene was put in is a mistery to me. I bought the DVD before I had actually seen the movie, knowing I would enjoy it because it was Alien and Predator. Unfortantly I found it hard to watch and I feel that the trailer is actually better than the movie itself.

I thought that they had alof of scenes cut out do to it being pg-13 and not R. I was looking for a directors cut to come out.

It'll be interesting to see if it's a "Director's Cut."

Considering how much I "enjoyed" this movie, I think the current DVD release will be quite adequate for my collection.
Yes it has Aliens...
Yes it has Predators...
Yes I loved both franchises...
But good God am I glad I got a free ticket to see this in theaters from a DVD.
Please.... FOX... respect each series and their respective fans. Yes you can make money from a cheap cash in like this film. But you can make much more by making a good film that does a killing and goes on to make profitable sequels.
Ah, who cares. Nothing I can say about this will make any difference. It is too bad that a guy who actually has knowledge/appreciation for these films has no input in the matter. Thankfully a bunch of fucking morons are in complete control. Fucking pathetic.

Sounds like the same shit Fox pulled with Day After Tomorrow - Release a special, 2 disc version a few months after a single disc version. And oh, yeah. that 2 disc version? We already released that in Europe - as the first edition.
Fucking bullshit. If you already have it - just release it.

Fox have been pulling this ploy on many of their recent DVD releases. Not only do they release a double disc version of the movie over here first but they also bring out a single edition out on the same day for about £3 less. I must admit I'm a little tight with money but even I wouldn't hold back spending £3 more to get a better edition. When AVP came out there were hundreds of single disc sets everywhere but nobody was buying them as they were spending a tiny bit more for the double disc edition. Why Fox want to waste time and money by releasing a crap edition too is a little odd. Who the hell would go into a store and choose a shit version of a DVD when the better one is just the price of a magazine more expenisve. I'm also confused as to why you guys in the States don't get the double discs straight away. Surely you should be getting the double disc sets quicker than us.
