what comedies have actually made you laugh out loud throughout the film? what comedy makes you laugh that actually made a lot of money in the box office or a lot of people were talking about it?

Some Like It Hot - laughed-out-loud watching it alone; comedy stands up to repeated viewings

LOL. Not even close. It was a 1959 comedy classic starring Marilyn Monroe. And I agree with deep_red, the film never fails to crack me up, and comedies are not my thing for the most part (except the screwball comedies, those are awesome).

Speaking of screwball comedies, I loved and found funny The Lady Eve, Sullivan's Travels, It Happened One Night, and Bringing Up Baby.

And I don't know why, but most recently I laughed out loud during Howard Hawks' "Monkey Business", I just found it hilarious and I ADORED Ginger Rogers in it.

Team America was hilarious, along with Shaun of the dead. Dodgeball was one of the funniest movies ever, Laughed out loud throughout especially when they are trying to dodge traffic- classic.

The Wedding Crashers will hopefully be one I can add to my list.

Very few of them do. Comedy is such a hit or miss thing to me really. The only few in recent memory to do this are:

Officespace
Shaun of the Dead
There's Something About Mary
South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut

And yes

Napoleon Dynamite so sue me! :p

ANCHORMAN
Harold & Kumar
Office Space

Most other movies are big laughs + boring parts, but these ones kept me thoroughly entertained. :D

Its standup comedy but Eddie Murphy's Delirious was funny as hell the first time I saw it.

A really bad movie that made me laugh was UHF starring Weird Al Yankovic. I was a kid when I saw it though.

Dumb and Dumber remains the funniest movie of all time for me.

Probably the funniest movie you can find.

"It's illegal in 16 countries. 60% of the time, works every time." And I think the brawl alone is worth the DVD price.

Also, if you like really really really stupid humor, you'll LOVE Kung Pow: Enter The Fist. Just like with Anchorman, I think I sobbed a little. Hilarious movies.

last summer was the best for comedies.

Dodgeball, Anchorman, and Kumar..all made me ROFL.

btw, Team America didn't make me crack up. Only one scene made me laugh out loud, was the endless vomitting scene after the bar. That's all. Just didn't think it was funny.

There are quite a few, but one that pops into my head instantly is Anchorman. I remember being in tears the first time I saw it. Just great stuff.

I would have to say recently:
Team America: World Police (AMERICA....FUCK YEA!)
Hitch
Shaun of the Dead
The Longest Yard (I GOT GOOD NEWS GUYS I DIDN'T SPILL MY BEER)
Diary of a Mad Black Woman
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Bruce Almighty

Oldies but goodies:
Caddyshack
Police Academy
Both Ace Ventura's

Other than the sex scene, the "Fuck yeah!" song and the "9/11 times 100!" jokes, I thought Team America was horribly dissapointing. By the end they ran out of jokes and Matt and Trey begin insulting everyone they see like sixth graders. Horribly dissapointing.

A Clockwork Orange. At first i felt kinda bad to be laughing out loud at the beating and rape scenes but now i see the movie as a semi intentional comedy.

I couldn't laugh at the beating and rape scenes....but I love the movie as a comedy. The expression on the Hitleresque guard as the naked performer tests Alex at the exhibition had me in tears.

There's a part where Kumar and Harold see two people walking down the street, and mention, "They look like lamer versions of us" before seeing them get beat down by baseball bats.

That scene, and only that one, made me laugh out loud for a good minute.

Agreed, I watched that for the first time 2 days ago, and I rarely stopped laughing. It was such a great film too.

Also, Dumb and Dumber and Liar Liar were equally hilarious.

I thought that movie was damn funny, and right there with Anchorman. That seems to be a popular choice as a "SUPER FUNNY!" movie, but it did nothing for me. It lacks jokes, it's just "Whoa! He's so drunk man! ahaha! Look man! He's naked man! AHAHAHA!". There's nothing wrong with that, but it'z zero clever in my opinion.

..true, its not the highest on brain power, but its damn funny in a crude sort of way.

Dodgeball was a good mix of the two.

For every Anchorman/Elf, im glad we get a Old School/Beavis and Butthead movie.

Im surprised at how LITTLE people are mentioning TEAM AMERICA, which i found to be extremely overhyped and boring as hell. Not even crude funny, just..kinda..there....like it was sitting on a joke, but couldnt decide on what to say.....

.....

...although "Pearl harbor sucks" did make me chunckle.;)

boogie nights was damn funny

dirk-What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again.

floyd-I like simple pleasures, like butter in my ass, lollipops in my mouth. That's just me. That's just something that I enjoy.

Reed- Have you seen that Star Wars movie?
Dirk- Yeah, I've seen it four times.
Reed- You know, people tell me I kind of look like Han Solo.

Scotty- I'm a friggin' idiot. I'm a friggin' idiot. Friggin' idiot, friggin' idiot, friggin' idiot...

then of course the greatest song in movie history-you've got the touch!you've got the power! yeah!

There have been a ton but some honorable mentions would be, BASEketball, Anchorman, Waiting For Guffman, This is Spinal Tap, Best In Show, Old School, Team America, Orgazmo, Super Troopers, Club Dread, Shaun of the Dead, Office Space, Life Aquatic.

Darth Homo
07-11-2005, 09:04 AM
Steve Carrell in Bruce Almighty - I sat alone in my apartment with tears coming down my face.

Julia Roberts in My Best Friends Wedding - Crazy I know but her delivery of "...he just came into town to...fuck me!" bloody brilliant, I spit red wine all over the carpet.

Believe it or not finding Nemo makes me laugh everytime I watch it. I find Dory to be hilarious.
Porkys. One of the greatest. All about the Lasie scene and the shower scene and the hooker scene in the everglades. That movie is a fucking rip.
SpaceBalls.
CaddyShack
Airplane!
American Pie 2
American Wedding. All about the shit eating scene. "told that guy wanted to fuck me!"
Seed of Chucky "Whats your name?"
"Shitface."
Shaun of the Dead

American Psycho (the janitor = best. thing. ever)
Monty Python & The Holy Grail
High Fidelity (Jack Black, nuff said)
Ghost World

- only that comes to mind right now, but there obviously many more. Has anyone else noticed that we seem to have a tendency to laugh out loud moreso watching a movie in theaters, almost like you're expected to, than at home. Mayhap its just me.
