Depending on when you ask me, it'll either be SIN CITY or BATMAN BEGINS. I need at least one more viewing of each to nail down which one edges the other out, since both are reeeeeally damn close in my book.

Cinderella Man is by far my favorite movie of the year so far. It's the only **** movie of the year so far.

But not too far behind are:

The Interpreter
Crash
The Jacket
Batman Begins
Kingdom of Heaven
Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

I really really reeeeeeally wanted to see Cinderella Man, but I just never got aroung to doing it. I thought Star Wars 3 was not the "masterpiece" everyone made it out to be. It was good, but it wasn't great.

Boo! Sin City and Batman Begins were both okay, but neither were all that. Two of the most overrated movies of the year. People keep throwing out 10/10s to the point where we should now consider 15/10 the new 10/10.

Most havent said they were 10/10, but rather simply that they were the best two movies they have seen this year.

..and i agree. I also stated at how sad that was that these WERE the best two by far...for me at least.

Well I see a difference between what's a Fave movie of the year, and the Best movies of the year. Sometimes what I consider a great film, isn't something I want to see over and over again, whereas a favourite film can not be rated so high cause it essentially isn't a great film, but you get alot of enjoyment out of it. So going by what would be my favourite films of the year...(And the majority of them still scored a 7/10 (***1/2) or over..but still)

Sahara (7/10)
Just a fun actioner with an enjoyable performance from Steve Zahn, and the always charming Matt McConaughey

The Amityville Horror (7/10)
I love a good horror film, and this wore it's hard rating on its sleeve and offered plenty of good scares, some nice gore, and a damn effective performance from Ryan Reynolds

The Upside of Anger (9/10)
My #2 film for the year was so much funnier than I was expecting. Joan Allen and Kevin Costner are both fantastic, and the drama and comedy elements were handled well

The Longest Yard (7/10)
Just a fun, harmless comedy that doesn't ask much from its audience but gives plenty back

Mr. and Mrs. Smith (8/10)
Loved the hell out of this movie. All the elaborate action scenes, the nicely placed comedy, two great turns from Pitt and Jolie, not to mention their smoking chemistry, as well as a fine support role from Vince Vaughn. Definitely one of my faves for the year

Batman Begins (8/10)
Probably doesn't have as higher re-watch value as some others, but it doesn't stop it from being well handled, and extremely entertaining

Fantastic Four (7/10)
Not a great comic book film by any means necessary, but I had alot of fun with this. Chris Evans really lights up the screen as Johnny Storm, and it doesn't hurt that Jessica Alba is extremely watchable. One of the prime examples of a fave film that isn't necessarily great

House of Wax (7/10)
Loved this. The violence was wonderfully brutal, and I really didn't mind it taking its time in getting to the goods. And when you have that bat bashing and that kill with Miss Hilton, it's worth it

Sin City (9/10)
Another film I don't see me watching over and over again, but loving nonetheless. Mickey Rourke rocked, Devon Aoki is beyond captivating, the slick style, the even slicker violence, Sin City really had it all

Those are my ratings cause that's how I feel about 'em. I was captivated by both. The ratings stand.

That being said, it's slim pickens for great films this year.

I thought that while it was no Spirited Away(10/10), it was still wonderful movie. (8/10)

EDIT- Mr. Blonde, i completely agree. While Batman and SIN CITY are my top two this year as well, and amazing movies, i consider it a pretty pitiful year due to this fact.

First time in a LONG time ive made it to late july without one single 10/10...and not one movie looks to gain that score in sight.

I agree that Sin City is overrated but I freaking love Batman Begins! Though I gave it an 8/10. But I don't give too many 9's and 10's and only reserve those to the near masterpieces. The only 9/10 I've given this year was to Cinderella Man. And nothing until atleast September looks like it will get a 9/10 or 10/10.

my favorite movie's of this year and there's a lot so don't judge me that i love all these movies it's just how i feel.not in order.
fantastic 4-10/10

my ratings don't really matter,i could give a movie a 10 and still prefer a movie that i give 9.example i give willy wonka a 9 and elektra a 10 and still prefer willy wonka to elektra because that movie was more memorable and i would pick willy wonka as a better choice than elektra which i give a higher rating it kind of works like that i don't really know how to explain it but roger ebert explained it before.
