It can be both films he's directed and films he's just written. Which one do you think is the best? The guy's such a genius, so it's really tough to pick just one. Along with that, which actor do you think delivers his dialogue the best?

House of Games is his best film followed by Spartan.
Joe Mategna delivers Mamet dialogue the best followed by Val Kilmer.
Coincidence?......

THE SPANISH PRISONER, an elegant, brilliantly-written puzzler that's one of my ten all-time favorite films. Sheer Mametian perfection.

Glengarry Glen Ross is definetely the best thing he's ever written (obviously the Pulitzer seems to agree), but when it comes to movies, it's insanely tough. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Heist, but I don't know if that's the best.
And for actors, Al Pacino is totally up there for me. His performance is fucking phenominal. I'd really love to see more of Kilmer, Pacino, and Hackman in future Mamet films.

Glengarry Glen Ross followed by Spartan followed by Heist followed by The Untouchables. Mamet is one of those writer/directors that knows what he wants and always delivers the goods.

One movie no ones mentioned is Oleanna. Number 2 or 3 in my mind, William H. Macy is fanfuckintastic in it. I'm a huge Mamet fan I couldnt put them in any order but Glengary Glenross started it all for me.
