Blue Underground has announced a September 27th street date for one of their most long-awaited releases, “The Blind Dead Collection” - "Now Totally Uncut & Uncensored For The First Time Ever On DVD!"

Over the course of four unforgettable films, writer/director Amando de Ossorio created what fright fans worldwide consider to be one of the most startling series in horror history. This unique quartet of shockers delivers a relentless onslaught of creepy atmosphere, shocking violence, forbidden sexuality, and the still-chilling icons of EuroHorror: The eyeless undead who hunt by sound in their quest for human flesh.

Don't move, don't breathe, don't let them hear your heart beating: THE BLIND DEAD are back! Blue Underground is proud to present the "definitive editions" of these four long-unseen classics, now fully restored from original vault materials and remastered in heart-stopping High Definition 1.85:1 anamorphic transfers. This limited edition collection also contains an exclusive bonus bisc of interviews with the late Amando de Ossorio, a collectable booklet and more eye-popping extras, all packaged in a killer coffin-shaped box!

Disc 1: TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD (1971) (English and Spanish Versions) - Alternate opening sequence, theatrical trailer, poster & still gallery.

Disc 2: THE RETURN OF THE EVIL DEAD (1973) (English and Spanish Versions) - English language theatrical trailer, Spanish language theatrical trailer, poster & still gallery.

Disc 3: THE GHOST GALLEON (1974) (English Version) - Theatrical trailer, U.S. trailer (as HORROR OF THE ZOMBIES), TV and radio spots, poster & still gallery.

Disc 4: NIGHT OF THE SEAGULLS (1975) (English Version) - Theatrical trailer, poster & still gallery.

The Blind Dead series is average, in my holier-than-thou opinion, but for some reason, I'm extremely amped for this box set. The price tag is a bit much, but I can purchase it with birthday money (my b-day falls on 9/28!).

I wouldnt sweat the price too much, but it is steep!

Im sure that there will be some retailers who will be competitive on the price. I have been waiting for this to happen for a hell of a long time. The Blind Dead Collection will be a welcome addition to my collection!

Theres a place on the web called 'Send Me Movies.Com' that has the boxset priced at $59.97, but they arent excepting any pre-orders as of yet. So have faith fellow schmoes and shop around for the best possible price made available.

Its going to be interesting to see Ghost Gallion aka Horror of the Zombies Un-Cut for the first time, I have heard about this version many times in the past, so I am looking forward to this.

My VHS copies of the Blind Dead are getting worn out as it is. :D

Sounds like a cool box set to me. I've recently re-checked upon Ghost Ship of the blind Dead and Bloodfeast of the blind dead and came away quite digging both although I didn't like Bloodfeast at all when I first saw it.

I'm curious if Blue Underground's Box features them all uncut - all the versions of Return of the blind dead released until now were cut, including the Anchor Bay one.

I've toyed with the idea of getting these movies by nefarious means for a while now but always backed off thinking that i'd be wasting my cash (even though the DVD-Rs would have cost very little...i'm a tight bastard these days when it comes to parting with my hard earned). I'm a sucker for a box set though and if it comes with an abundance of extras I can see me going for it. The movies intrigue me. Some of the imagery looks very eerie and i've read some positive articles and reviews of the first two flicks in the series.

Nice packaging! I haven't seen that yet. The Coffin Joe box set is also shaped like a coffin.

Perhaps there should be a sequel entitled Tomb of the Undead Seeing-Eye Dogs.
