I watched this trailer on Friday and was impressed, maybe a bit creeped out too. I haven't seen anything that looked this genuinely freaky in awhile. Anyone else seen it?

It's a great trailer, but I know it will end up being average

IMO, it'll be one of the finer horror films we've had in a while. The story is based loosely on a true story, so we don't have to worry about the plot being hokey or anything. Plus Laura Linney and Tim Wilkinson are such consistently good actors. I'm optimistic.

I want to see this film, but have a fear of exorcism movies,
because I myself used to feel that I might of been possessed
at one point in my life due to the severity of my Schizophrenia.
Granted I am about 90 percent better now, but don't want to fall
back on the bandwagon, so I'm guessing I will have to pass.
I may check it out when it hits dvd though, I mean I am getting
better. I just don't want any set backs.

I like court room dramas and horror movies so this seems right up my alley.

I do too and this one looks like it'll have both elements. I think that must have been a really interesting and bizarre case so I hope that both sides of the situation are shown. Has anyone read more about the story it's based on?

It looks like it could be a very creepy movie. Hopefully it will be one of the better horror movies. Up there with Open Water and The Blair Witch Project. Tom Wilkinson and Laura Linney being in it gives me even more hope since they are normally good at picking out good movies and are just great actors.

At first I was worried this might just be an Exorcist rip off, but the trailer has eased my fears. I'll be catching this one in the theaters. :)

There's actually a really interesting article on comingsoon that features an interview with the director and he addresses the whole comparison with The Exorcist thing - and I think he says something like "You can't out-exorcise The Exorcist" and then goes on to say how they tried to make this film differently instead of outdoing The Exorcist. Very smart if you ask me and cool to hear his strategy behind Emily Rose. Made me want to see it even more.

This trailer looks good, and Wilkinson is one of Britain's finest working actors.

I agree. Wilkinson was awesome in Batman Begins, Eternal Sunshine and In the Bedroom. The film looks interesting, but it could be awfully average. The prescence of class actors like Laura Linney and Campbell Scott is a very good sign, though.

I totally agree. And - none of those actors you named ever seem to pick bad roles or "average" films really.

If the trailer is any indication of its level of horror, I think it really will raise the bar for horror films this year. I was reminded of the Blair Witch Project - that horrible hopeless terrified creeped out feeling I got watching it - and if the Emily Rose trailer evoked that feeling then I'm convinced this will be up there. I get more excited every time I see the trailer or a poster or anything. Hells yeah.

zinger....
:D
But seriously - she's good. And Wilkinson - can't go wrong.
Now what's amazing is the girl playing Emily - she's new isn't she? I don't recognize her and didn't catch her name - anyone know more about her? That's a tough role.

What I liked was some of the practical effects they used in the trailer like the bed cover ebing pulled off and the bed being pushed down by an invisible force. While there is CGI I hope there are othe r subtle scres like that

It looked creepy without being over the top in any way. It was the MOOD of the trailer/preview that won me over.
In this day and age, thats about the best compliment i can give a horror movie.

It was average at best, the trailer. Then I went, "Hey, thats Campbell Scott, I'll check it out."

You're totally right - that's a good way of putting it. Trailer wasn't overdone, and didn't give away too much - just put forth a mood and teased - maybe that's why it grabbed me. Well put!
