Read my review here (http://www.joblo.com/index.php?id=7989)

"The Island" is by far the best movie of 2005. I am out of words to describe how captivating it is!

I really hope it is successful at the box office, and I think it will, being that its only competition is the undermarketed "The Bad News Bears" and the non-mainstream "The Devil's Rejects".

I'm having withdrawals, I really want to see it again...

Hmmm... Quite a surprise. I wasn't really looking that forward to 'The Island', but after those reviews, I might change my mind.

actually, this flick really did look rather appealing to me just from the frist teaser trailer, despite being directed by Michael Bay....:o

but hey, anything with Scarlett Johansson in it, i'm there....not to mention the god Steve Buscemi......

Under normal circumstances, if I heard a movie was going to star Ewan McGregor, Scarlett Johansson, Djimon Hounsou, Steve Buscemi, Sean Bean and Michael Clarke Duncan, I would be interested. But put Michael Bay's name in the "directed by" slot, and I'll stay the fuck away from it.

I'm certainly interested now and seeing as its starring Ewan McGregor and Sean Bean I will certainly be seeing it.

Gonna definitely see this. Ewan McGregor is quite the actor and should make an excellent lead. I just dig the fact that it isn't some kind of remake or adaptation so I'll support it.

Listen i dont really care if they reamke it or not becuase it w as terrible film and they could only improve but people sdhould really see Parts: The Clonus Horror. Its got way too many simliarities with this film not for this movie to be called a remake

Might be slight spoilers.

no need to read the review you posted, as I saw it myself last saturday, and man was I impressed, but I gotta say that it didn't
seem like a Michael Bay film, not enough explosions, not that it
mattered, because the movie still rocked, and I absolutely love
Steve Bucsemi, he rocks it out in all of his movies, and this was
no exception. The action was tight, a few minor laughs,
Michael Clark Duncun was piss poorly underused, he was in it
for like 10 minutes then he was gone, only to pop up on a sports
banner and that was it, but don't get me wrong, when he was
there, he was good. Just sadly under used.
Sean Bean, was excellent as the, I'm assuming that he was
a Psychologist, Head of the Institution.
It's a laid back affair this time around for Mr. Bay, like I said
there wasn't alot of explosions, that he is so used to using.
As a matter of fact, this is the first Michael Bay directed film
that didn't seem like it was coming from him. I don't know
quite how to put it, but this movie was definately his best work
yet. The speeder bike chase scenes were awesome,
and yes there are like, if I remember correctly like 4 minor
explosions. Michael Bay subdued himself, and it works
great. I highly reccomend this flick. 9.5 out of 10.

Don't get all the hate for Michael Bay directing.
Actors are great, one of my favorite directors, sci-fi action which is my favorite genre.
You can definitely count me there opening day!

Same for me, this has pretty quickly moved up from a movie i had no interest at all in seeing to one of my most anticipated movies.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm guessing that his name is Lincoln because he frees everyone at the end right?

Damn I'm good.

The movie's good, but not great. My review is over in The Island thread - I gave it a 7/10.

Most movies have revealed EVERYTHING about the damn films in the trailers, or been remakes, adaptations, or sequels this year(WOTW, Wonka, Star Wars, Sin City, Batman, Constantine)....so im pretty amped to see an original sci-fi movie that is getting such good buzz.

Note- Not to say that these movies arent kick ass, in fact the ones i listed are some of my favs this year, but seeing a movie i know almost nothing about is becoming increasingly rare it seems..so im loving this.)
