Well I myself NEVER saw the show....Now bring on Jessica! ;)

ORIGINAL 'HAZZARD' STAR URGES FANS TO BOYCOTT MOVIE

Former "Dukes of Hazzard" star Ben Jones is urging fans to boycott the anticipated movie adaptation of his classic TV series, branding the project a "sleazy insult."
The actor, a former Georgia congressman who played wisecracking mechanic Cooter Davenport on the popular series from 1979 to 1985, says the profanity and sexual content in the film -- starring Jessica Simpson, Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott -- make a mockery of the original family friendly show.

Jones, who claims to have read a copy of the script, rants, "Basically, they trashed our show. It's one thing to do whatever movie they want to do, but to take a classic family show and do that is like taking 'I Love Lucy' and making her a crackhead or something."

On Wednesday, Jones wrote an open letter to fans on his Web site, Cootersplace.com, stating, "From all I have seen and heard, the 'Dukes' movie is a sleazy insult to all of us who have cared about the 'Dukes of Hazzard' for so long.

"Unless they clean it up before the August 5th release date I would strongly recommend that true blue 'Dukes' fans hold their noses and pass this one up."

I thought they made a pretty good job of making it look like dog shit themselves.

Correct me if I am wrong, but weren't Uncle Jessie and the Duke boys bootleggers of moon shine on the original show. That sounds pretty family friendly to me.

From watching the trailers, I gather that they took a popular TV show, used it's title and characters and made a movie about something totally different. Idk, it just seems like they used the title of the old show just so people would go see it.

I admit, it looks "okay" but still think they should have called it Dukes of Hazzard if they weren't going to stick with the original show theme.

The movie does look very different to the seires and I can see whay the original cast wouldn't like it. The T.V show had a certain charm to it which seems to be lost in this movie. But then again, this is just another T.V rip off aimed at the MTV generation so what do you expect. You can't beat the original show, god I love 80's T.V!

Just by casting Knoxville and Scott is worning enough to not see this insult of a movie. The casting is horrible.
Jessica Simpson as Daisy? Hell fucking no! The original Daisy was a smart, sexy, women in the showwho know how to handle herself. It seems the film portrays Daisy as a bumb blonde that spits out sexual innuendos.
Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg? What?! Thats just stupid. Boss Hogg was fat ugly and obnoxious. Burt is just to clean cut for the role.
Willy Nelson as Uncle Jessie?!? My lord I cant express how dumb that is.
Im not even going into how stupid it is to have Scott and Knoxville as Bow and Luke

Most of these people are pretty cool. Except for Simpson and Renolds. But the film has so horrible casting. Some of the worst Ive ever seen.

I love Burt Reynolds, but i agree with this 100% and thought the very same thing when i saw him in the trailer.

Agreed. The main pull for Daisy Duke (for me anyway) was that she was smart, sexy and a bit of a tomboy. The movie has gotten rid of the tomboy thing and made Daisy a dumbo blonde (I hate that sterotype). Daisy Duke wasn't even blonde in the TV show, she's brunette.

As for Boss Hogg, why Burt Reynolds? He looks nothing like the guy in the show. This is just another lame TV series spin-off starring everyone of MTV's line-up.

This movie obviously is not marketed toward the fans of the show. Its marketed toward fucking teeangers who wanna see the guy from Jackass and American Pie go fast in a cool car while Jessica simpson is pracing around in a bikini. The only thing good about this movie is the General Lee. Al least that aspect of the show is in the film.

Seriously though, why cant people follow the simple formula of the show?!

As you can tell Im a fan of the show:)

Well I'm not really interested but I figure I'll take my dad seeing as he use to be a fan of the TV show. Anyway Seann W.Scott IMO is quite a funny guy (specially as Stiffler).

And I thought Starsky and Hutch the movie would suck and that was great fun, so I'm willinging to give this ago.

Wow you guys seem to have everything figured out....

I honestly don't know how any of you can make the assumptions you have made from just the trailers. How do you know DD won't be like she was in the show? Because of the "I think something bounced up into my undercarriage" line? I got the idea from that scene that maybe she was distracting one of the cops from something else, how does that make her a dumb blonde?

Seriously people, if you don't want to see the movie fine, but quit making ignorant assumptions about a film that no one has seen.

they definitely did a great job of making the movie look like garbage in the trailers. I don't have to boycott this for any other reason than I think it looks like junk.

I've heard that Ben Jones wanted to audition for the movie and they weren't too interested in him.

Sour grapes on his part?

When I first heard about a Dukes movies I just kind of rolled my eyes. When I heard the Broken Lizard guys were involved, that kind of peaked my curiousity a little.

I'll see the movie. I'm not expecting it to be too much like the TV show, which was one of my favorites growing up. I'm curious to see where they go with it. But I do agree that Jessica Simpson as Daisy was a big ass mistake. But she's still hot, can't argue with that (well, for the most part anyway).

im seeing this movie for 1 reason and 1 alone. its being done by the Broken Lizard boys. There movies are insultingly hilarious. I have never seen the original serious(not my fault), but a movie based on the show is a ting not to pass up no matter how bad people say it is. Plus the youth of america these days want to see adult situations instead of kiddy crap. i think it would be an insult not to show supposed bad asses like the duke boys to todays standard of bad ass.
