Just caught this DTV flick on late night Brit TV. Has anyone else seen this curious little film? It's based on a short story by Stephen King and a short story by Clive Barker, the two being linked together by a mysterious travelling storytelling weirdo. The King story has some good moments, with a tense confrontation between an on-the-edge salesman and a psycho hitchiker, which more intense than the razor sharp mechanical teeth that come alive. The second story is about a successful plastic surgeon whose hands decide to rebel. It's funny, not scary. The film was directed by Mick Garris, who does a good job, and stars Christopher Lloyd, Veronica Cartwright, Bill Nunn, Missy Crider and a bunch of familiar faces, with cameos from John Landis and Barker himself. It's good fun if you're looking for brainless late night horror with a sense of humour, but it's by no means a classic.
