Take your pick... I honestly though Jacket was the better of the two! :)

Butterfly Effect hands down. The ending to The Jacket made no sense (how could he stay in the future if his body in the past was dead?) and the romantic angle was far fetched (she's afraid of him then just falls in love with him for the hell of it? It's almost as bad as the lovey-dovey stuff in Episode II).

Butterfly Effect's ending wasn't a happy sappy ending and at least it made more sense.

I'm not saying The Jacket was a bad movie, I liked it, but I felt Butterfly Effect was far superior... and it was creepy to boot (except fo the lame Director's Cut ending).

BUTTERFLY EFFECT.

THE JACKET was a movie that was in love with itself and refused to share with the audiance.

The directors cut of the ButterFly Effect is one of my favorite movies ever.

So the ButterFly Effect takes my vote.

Well Shwanzi, I think the director's vision for the ending of the Jacket, about how he's in the future when his body was dead in the past, goes beyond the physical aspect... Almost a "heaven" of sorts, where it's all subconscious... Least that's what I got out of it... The only thing that bothered me about Jacket was that Keira Knightley's attempt at an American accent was just atrocious...

Don't get me wrong though, I DID quite enjoy Butterfly Effect, the Director's Cut SHOULD have been the movie that was in theatres... :p

But that ending where the unborn version of Ashton Kutcher choking himself with his umbilical cord in the womb was the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I was totally into the flick, digging on all it's paradoxical mumbo jumbo, then BLAM! Gay ending.

I went back and watched the theatrical version and the ending there was much more simple and to the point. I loved all the cool little details from the director's cut, but that ending kills it for me every time. I love the movie to death, but I'll stick with the theatrical one.

There was just something about a short little kid picking on a tall kid that doesnt fly with me. Now I understand that the short kid was crazy but I dont care. This isnt a question of like a short built strong wrestler type kid picking on a tall chess club kid, both were around the same age, one was taller and not as scrawny as he should of been. Basically this really pissed me off during the moie and made it less believable for me thus making the movie mediocre at best. Plus the ending to the Directors Cut was very gay like shwanzi stated.

The Jacket 8/10
The Butterfly Effect 7/10

I think The Butterfly Effect is a good movie but I think The Jacket is a great movie. Certainly, I think the Jacket is going to go down as one of, if not the most, underrated movie of 2005.

The Jacket is a better movie. Why? It didn't turn into a laughable comedy. The Butterfly Effect was the dumbest time travel movie I have seen in some time.

Definitely the Butterfly Effect.

Liked 'em both but the performances in The Jacket were more believable so I chose it.

The Jacket - 7/10
The Butterfly Effect - 6/10

The jacket didn't keep me all that interested, and the gulf war footage was sometimes shoddy. Also, it felt like a rookie director was at the helm and while some of the shots came off as interesting and creative, others just felt really corny. (IE: Kris Kristopherson and Brody confrontation in the future, where they do the close-ups on Brody's lips. WTF? It didn't heighten anything within, in my opinion)

Butterfly was quite enjoyable and didn't give me any glimpses throughout that broke my concentration throughout the movie. Solid from start to finish.

The Jacket is severely underrated with a surprisingly engaging and mature storyline. Its not perfect but its one of the better scifi/drama films Ive seen and need to g et more attention.

Yet I also loved BE with the directors cut ending. I think theyre equal

I haven't seen The Jacket, but The Butterfly Effect (1/10) was a steaming pile of anal discharge.

I liked butterfly effect a lot better. I guess I was expecting more out of the Jacket. :D
