Not bad, reminded me more of Brotherhood of the Wolf than anything else. I love how John Hurt is in it.

Just saw this and it rocked my socks off.
This has just become one of my most anticipated movies. It looks like a cross between Blade and Batman Begins. Very cool stuff.

I think it looks rather stylish, and that’s definitely my kind of movie. “Brotherhood of the Wolves” was the first film that came to mind when I first saw this trailer.

Im wondering if the movie will get any troubles with all that is going on in London. You know, the movie is about a "terrorist" causing chaos in London.

Looks cool as hell. If the Wachowski's aren't going Philosophocles on us like with Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions this could be one of the best flicks of the year, right up there with Revenge of the Sith and Sin City. It looks slick, violent and cool. And it's got the hotness of Natalie Portman and a spooky Hugo Weaving, who portrayed one of the best villains in cinema history, in my opinion. Did anyone dig the "People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people"-line?

Saw the trailer last night at a screening of the The Island. Looks pretty good but I must admit that it's a bit ominous that Alan Moore wants to distance himself from this. makes you wonder how the Wachoskis altered it from his vision.

I thought that it looked rather mediocre. It all just seemed a little... meh. Also, I didn't like the use of the Batman Begins music... especially the way it was changed, then again though it's just the trailer and won't actually be in the movie.
Meh, I'll probably end up seeing it.

More like E for Equilibrium, or 1 for 1984, or G for Gattica, etc.
A cross between Zorro and Alien 3?
Can't say I got excited about this one. I'll put it in the "Looks as good as Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever" category for now.

Reminds me of a favorite Thomas Jefferson quote of mine:

It looks exactly like what I expected.
Looks like the set design will be fantastic. Looks as if it will be very very dumb, but possibly entertaining in the action department. However, having read the graphic novel, I don't see much action. I see the potential for a lot of talky talky talky, and then A BIT OF ACTION, with more talking, and maybe a little more action, but probably not.
To top it all off, the Wachowskis won't help but try to capture lightning in a bottle again with a failed attempt at MATRIX style fighting... yet again.
So I'm mixed.

...just watched the hd trailer.
wasn't worth the bandwidth, i must say.
looks like a gone bad version of equilibrium.
the costumes are so bad, and they just don't fit at all together.
and that mass soldier scene reminded me of alone in the dark.
that's not good.
and there seem to be too many different styles: thriller, action, cops, zorro, coolness, war, matrix, blade, biochemics, atomic waste, 1984, ah, whatever.
this movie is gonna suck anyway.
buy the comics instead of a cinema ticket, mkay?

Why do they bother trying to trick us into thinking the Wachowski Brothers didn't direct this? So they slap on some guys name as Director, but seeing the trailer before The Island, the thing reeked of from the makers of the Matrix.

That's how he looked in the graphic novel. It's a mask of Guy Fawkes, the 17th century statesmen who attempted to assasinate King James I of England by placing barrels of gunpower under the floor of Parliament. He didn't succeed in carrying out his plan.

I think Alan Moore has the Stephen King syndrome here. The only movie based off Stephen Kings books that he disliked altogether was The Shinning. He claimed that it was because it derived from the book too much but it was obvious that he hated it because it was called "Stanley Kubrick's The Shinnig" and Kubrick recieved most if not all of the credit for the films brilliance, leaving King in the dust. Moore will probobly feel the same way with the brothers getting all the imaginitive credits, it wont help if they change things around either.

I, too, liked the look and style of the movie that I saw in the trailer. I just don't know what people are going to think about a movie where a terrorist is the hero.
I know, I know that it's not based on fact or anything, that it is based on a book, and that it's a futuristic movie; but people tend to contrast and compare a lot - especially nowadays with current events.

I know about Guy Fawkes, but I bet that 99% of the people that will see this don't. They will think the exact same thing. I hope it is addressed in the film, so it will keep people from asking ridiculous questions.

..its usualy done by the actors because they have to emote in other ways to compensate for the lack of facial expression.
Sometimes its overblown like The Green Golbin, and other times it works very well, like Darth Vader.

I don't anticipate a lot of hand gestures being used. In the graphic novel, V was not like that at all. Very calm and calculated. Not some character hopped up on God knows what like Green Goblin. I think it will seem very out of place if they make V do that.

I can't wait for V for Vendetta. Alan Moore is a freakin psychopath and also one of the best story tellers every. I'm really anxious to see what they do with it. Now all we need is Watchmen, that would be amazing! Extremely long and expensive, but none the less AMAZING!

Sounds like it might be pushed way back to Eary 2006 which would blow big time.
I did have my doubts that they would stick with the november 4th date just because it seems like a lot of Post-production, and now that Jarhead bumped up to Nov. 4th, they probably have second guesses on the release date. Sucks, but I won't mind if it makes the movie better!

The movie looks cool but I had a problem with Hugo Weaving in the trailer throwing knives. He does like 5 flips and and twirls the knives like four times around his fingers before actually hitting anybody. Then about halfway through the trailer I had a problem with his mask. It looked retarded after a while. Hopefully in the movie they'll explain why he chose that mask of all the masks he could of chosen. Other than that I have no problem and I will definitley go see this. And the other reason I will go see it is for the person below.

That mask depicts the face of Guy Fawkes, the traitor who planned to bomb the British Parliament building in (I may be wrong here) the 1800's. He was found before it happened though, and was executed.

I think there is potential in this movie. The source material is excellent. That said, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen kicked arse as a comic...
People who worry about Alan Moore distancing himself need not, it's nothing to do with this movie. He made a policy of having nothing to do with adaptations of his work. He even refuses money, giving the whole cheque to the artists of the works. He did this after being sued by some derelict who claimed he only wrote League as a way for the movie studio to cover-up the plagarism of his (shitty) pitch. There is more to that story - google it if you're interested.
From what information there is it seems as though the filmakers are being unusually uncompromising in their adaptation, which is good news. Unfortunately, as other fans of the comic who follow the news on JoBlo will know, there seems to be a certain liberty taken that is rather dumb.
SPOILER AHEAD - ONLY READ IF YOU HAVE READ THE COMIC OR DONT CARE!!!
It seems that during the climactic riot all of the citizens are wearing Guy Fawkes masks. Personally I think this is more than a little stupid. As well as reeking of dumbing down (they are all V, V is the PEOPLE! - get it? no? ok lets put them all in masks...)
END SPOILER
Hopefully this is the only instance of bad decision making in the adaptation. I'll still be there on day one :D
edit - I just realised that it probably isn't really a spoiler anymore as it's in the background of the posters...

I wasn't going to go see this movie....
....now I am.
Looks kickass. And no, the slow motion daggers don't really bother me.
You know that it makes perfect sense that the wajockowski brothers would latch onto this project, after their work with the matrix, v for vendetta seems like a natural extension, just make neo a girl, and make morpheus a totally whacked out, homicidal ex- concentration camp, sorry, "re-education" camp, prisoner with a thing for masks, drama, and speaking in riddles (listening to v talk, you think his dialogue is the stuff that inspired the oracle in the matrix, the two talk a lot alike, they tell you exactly what you need to hear) and a desire to systematically murder everyone who created him (as played by Hugo Weaving, sweet...). To me, there doesn't seem to be much difference between what v thinks the england of his day is, and what Morpheus told Neo that the matrix was, for those of us who read the book, V gives Evey a "red pill / blue pill" talk halfway through the novel that totally smacks of that scene in the matrix. so many of the themes and ideas of the matrix movies seem like they came from v for vendetta, that it makes perfect sense that the wajocakski brothers would be such big fans that they would want to adapt it to a movie, if anyone understands what v for vendetta is "about", you'd think it would be them. Can't wait for this movie!

"every college campus needs to screen this film for our future leaders of the world."
"This movie will go down as one of the most important films of our decade."
