Did anyone watch this peerless (amost), shocking, provocative & frequently heartbreaking example of UK Drama when it aired on the BBC back in 1997? It's a study of various disparate characters that's more effective even than the (to my mind) simlarly structured Paul Anderson movie Magnolia. It also featured one of the greatest single performances i've ever witnessed courtesy of one David Morrissey (soon to soil his mostly impecable recored by starring in the no doubt deplorably bad Basic Instinct 2). He was sublime in this. I'd give anything to see this series in it's entirety again but inexplicably it's never been released by the BBC on either video or better still on DVD. Along with Our Friends In The North and The Lakes it's the best drama the BBC produced in the nineties. Solid gold. The BBC should be ashamed of themselves for letting this lie in limbo.
