Well, the very sad ending to Ghost was depressing, but touching at the same time. I love this movie!

Got another one:
The Grapes of Wrath: Ma Joad says goodbye to Tom at the end of the movie because he's on the run from the cops. It was actually VERY emotional. Jane Darwell and Henry Fonda were amazing and heartbreaking in that scene. I love Darwell's final call to Tom as he's running away. All she says is "Tom." Her voice cracks as she says it because she's getting emotional and, whoa, I almost did too.

Should there even be a need to mention Casablanca? I mean, I think it's just a given.
What's Eating Gilbert Grape is somewhat of a goodbye, what with
*****SPOILERS
The hourse burning (a good-bye to their mother). I thought it was touching, and consider it a good-bye.

***SPOILERS***
The T-800 saying "Good-Bye" to John Connor as he is lowered into the vat of molten steel, and giving him the final thumbs up as almost all of his body is in the steel in T2. A very emotional scene that shows the true depth of the film.

The Terminator: I have to go away, John. It has to end here...
JC: Don't do it. Please... don't go-- stay with us, you'll be alright!
The Terminator: I know now why you cry...but it's something I can never do...
http://burns.thefinaldimension.org/cwm/3dlil/cry.gif that is the saddest thing I had to experience in a movie! I still to this day get all teary-eyed when I watch it. http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies/cwm/3dlil/sad.gif

T2 had one of the best I've ever seen, IMO, although there aren't many who would disagree.
The Empire Strikes back also had a great one, and so did Casablanca. Here's one not many people thought of that I thought was done well. Armageddon. Yep, even though the movie wasn't so great, the Harry Stamper goodbye scene was done rather well.

Good catch Trinity, I was wondering where that was, too!! The first farewell that came to mind for me though, was the one in Casablanca.
