Oscar-winning actress Holly Hunter is expecting twins, her publicist confirmed on Friday.
"She is pregnant with twins and expecting this winter," said the star's publicist. The twins will be the 47-year-old actress' first children.
The star of The Piano and The Firm has been dating British actor Gordon MacDonald since 2004.
Hunter was previously married to cinematographer Janusz Kaminski. The couple separated in 2001.
The actress met MacDonald while starring in Marina Carr's play By the Bog of Cats in London's West End.
Hunter rose to global stardom with her Oscar-winning performance as a mute woman in The Piano in 1993, a year which saw her nominated a second time, for her supporting role in The Firm.
Last year, Hunter won her fourth Oscar nomination in 2004 for Thirteen, playing the mother of a wayward teenager.
She is currently filming thriller Downloading Nancy, opposite Broadcast News co-star William Hurt.
Good for her. She's always come across as a lovely down to earth person in interviews. I hope it all goes smoothly for her.
