One of the most famous and funniest directors and writers to come out of Spain (no pun intended as he was one of the few out of the closet gay directors as early as the 70s). His characters are always vibrant, colorful and full of life, especially his women. He's may be best known for introducing Antonio Banderas to the world.

Pepi, Luci, Bom (1980)
Labyrinth of Passion (1982)
Dark Habits (1983)
What Have I Done to Deserve This? (1985)
Matador (1986)
Law of Desire (1987)
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988)
Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (1990)
High Heels (1991)
Kika (1993)
The Flower of My Secret (1995)
Live Flesh (1997)
All About My Mother (1999)

If I were to pick one film of his to show, it would probably be Women on the Verge...

Tie Me Up Tie Me down was incredibly funny!!!
But I think All about My Mother is the best of his stuff, from what I've seen so far.

I'm not a huge fan of matador http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif

I've only seen Hable con ella(Talk to her), I don't know the US release date(probably around september) but it was a really big hit here in Italy... personally I liked it too, I found it had some very strong performances and also direction was great (8/10)

Carne Tremula aka Live Flesh is his best. While it contains no likable characters, it tells a story so compelling and well-acted that it doesn't matter.

I've only seen TODO SOBRE MI MADRE and LIVE FLESH, and both of those films were just so raw and brilliant. I look forward to seeking out his other films on video.
