View Full Version : Best One-Man Scenes
Weapon X

Scenes in movies where it's just one guy, all alone, doin' his thing like it's nobody's business.
One that instantly comes to mind is from Swordfish, where hacker extraordinaire Stanley (Hugh Jackman) is at the 7-screen computer terminal, hacking away. All there is is the computer, a pack of smokes, a bottle of wine, and the song "50,000 Watts of Funkin'" playing in the background. Plus, there's Hugh Jackman oozing coolness.
Another scene, or in this case scenes are the black-and-white segments from Memento, where Leonard (Guy Pearce) recalls the strange but familiar case of fellow amnesiac Sammy Jankis.

Pacino in the Godfather. The hospital scene where he is protecting his bedridden papa, that motherfucker is intense.
DeNiro making like my mom in Taxi Driver. "Who the fuck do you think you're talking to?"

Stacy Keach in ROAD GAMES
Adrienne Barbeau in THE FOG
Charlton Heston in THE OMEGA MAN
All three actors proved that they have chemistry with themselves, since they spent the majority of these horror films alone.

Tom Hanks in castaway talking to that ball. Great one man performance for much of the movie.

I know Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt were there too, but Kevin Spacey's amazing monologue in Se7en is practically a one-man scene, and it was a great one.

The beginning scenes of Richard Linklater's TAPE, where it's just Ethan Hawke drinking beer and getting pumped up for the arrival of his "friend."

We disagree here. I did not like Ethan Hawke's performance in Tape much at all. It seemed like he was trying too hard to be Stiffler from American Pie to me...

Ash in Evil Dead II. The one that sticks in mind is where his hand comes to life and if beating the shit out of him. Also where the house comes to life and he is laughing histerically.

That's just what Hawke's character was: an asshole who's not as smart as he thinks he is. And what can I say, the man played Vince to psychotic perfection. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
