MCGREGOR ATTACKS CRITICAL JOURNALIST AT PREMIERE

Scottish actor Ewan McGregor has defended his aggressive outburst against a cheeky journalist at Sunday's London premiere of his latest movie, "The Island," insisting the reporter ruined his night by criticizing his American accent in the film.
The movie hunk was furious when a blonde journalist asked him about his critically mauled performance as an American in the movie, and replied he had "no plans to abandon the accent."

McGregor then shocked fans at the Leicester Square event, by storming back toward the journalist later on and shouting, "Thank you for bringing that up -- you've ruined my evening" before storming off.

The red-faced journalist was then ordered to leave the premiere and was banned from all future screenings, reports British newspaper the Daily Mirror.

But McGregor's spokeswoman insists, "There had been an unfounded criticism made to Ewan by an agency reporter, to which Ewan politely replied that he was sorry she'd asked that question as it had taken the shine off his night.

"To our knowledge no one was asked to leave and it has been resolved amicably."

I have no idea why people make such a big deal. Some actors (even Americans) don't do accents well. It is the movie or how they act that matters to me.
Some folks are just to anal!

Its not his accent is bad, but it doesn't seem "right."

I think it's perfectly okay and validated that he had his little outburst. Imagine you were paid millions of dollars to act out a different person with a different voice when the movie came out it bombed and some shmuck is asking you why your accent sucked.

Imagine the fucking pressure.

For all of the good movies he's done (with or without an accent), you'd think low brows like these interviewers wouldn't bust his balls over something like that. There are other actors and actresses with thicker accents that simply murder the dialogue they're handed.

Damn shame.

Man, I hope he doesn't go as nuts as Tom Cruise did.

Sounds like a little exchange of words blown way out of proportion, if you ask me.

Are all actors this much of a crybaby? Wow. Get a coach then. And Ewan, look at yourself in the mirror, yeah, some guys would kill to look like you, so stop crying and take a nap.

I think it's hard to be publically criticized (humiliated). If his accent was bad it was the director's job to notice and to make changes as needed.

They should have gotten Cate Blanchett for that role. She's great at accents.

:p

Yeah, but can you really trust Michael Bay to notice anything his actors are doing while on his set? ;)

They just could have asked Meryl Streep to dub his voice. She can do any accent under the sun.

From what I have heard McGregor was in a bad mood all night and apparently got annoyed with fans for taking pictures of him with their mobile phones. If this is true McGregor needs to get a life.

I think you would be in a bad mood also if you were still trying to promote one of the biggest flops of the year.
