For those of you who don't know who that is, he was Pixar's head of story for over 10 years. He was also the voice of Heimlich in A Bug's Life as well as other voices through the years.
He was killed in a tragic car accident on Tuesday. He was 45.

Rest in Peace.
Fuck that's just horrible. RIP
Pixar has had some amazing films. And that includes the story lines, which give them the depth every film should have. Tragic loss. May he rest in peace.

Joe Ranft was large responsible for those story lines. He and Lassiter were the core story team, particularly in the early days.
I had the pleasure of meeting Joe a couple of years ago at the Annie Awards. He was a huge guy, like 6'5". Literally larger than life. And incredibly nice.
