This is my first time doing a fantasy league game of any kind, so if I suck or give up, don't be upset with me. I'll try anything once...except bungy-jumping.

So I'm still trying to do a live draft, or at least an offline one. A couple people are on board. Anyone else?

Or should we just hit Autodraft and see what happens from there?

brodeurnumber1
09-07-2005, 03:05 PM
I'd say Offline or Live, auto is no fun. Offline would be good on say late Saturday night or something.

horrorfreak13
09-07-2005, 04:58 PM
I'm alright with a live draft this weekend I don't work Saturday so I could do it then.

ToRontoRon
09-08-2005, 10:16 PM
Yeah, I'd vote for live, but we'd have to pick a day well in advance so everyone knows. Saturday at around 10PM EST would sound about right to me. Maybe about 2-3 Saturday's from now.

Whichever date is picked, it shouldn't be a last minute thing. We should know for a while.

I suggest you just pick a day and time outsyder, if most people respond saying they want a live one.

Ok, I guess we could change it to 1:30.

How's everyone with that?

outsyder
09-11-2005, 01:47 AM
Ok, I just did a live draft tonight for another league. It's a good format. It has all the player listed. You can easily sort through all positions, Yahoo Ranking, Alphabetical Rankings, and your pre-draft rankings.

My league has 21 player teams, and it took us 50 minutes to complete for 10 teams. So ours should be less.

If you are not going to be there or are worried you won't be, set a pre-draft ranking system, or you'll just have your players picked by the Yahoo system automatically.

ToRontoRon
09-11-2005, 07:02 PM
Yup, 1:30 works for me.

But that pre-draft ranking system sounds like a good back up. I'll definately use that as a backup in case I can't make it for whatever reason.

I added a UTIL spot, to stop Brodeur from bitching. But after drafting Anson Carter, I can see why he wanted it.;)

Be sure and pick someone up.

The UTIL spot allows any player in any position to be played and counted for stats. It's a universal starter spot.

ToRontoRon

Behold, the championship lineup:

Centres
Lecavlier
Crosby

Left Wingers
Frolov
Zetterberg

Right Wingers
Palffy
Zherdev

Defence
Zidlicky
Aucoin
Rafalski
Kaberle

Goalies
Luongo
Kiprusoff

Bench
C-Lindros
D-M.A. Bergeron
LW-Rucinsky
G-Lehtonen

My team's strength is definately between the pipes. IMO, I have 2 of the 3 best goalies available.

Well, gl everyone. It should be fun.

I still have two of the young Sharks RW's. I'm good. And Satan. And of course, fatass for my LW's.

My Team:

Center
Peter Forsberg (Not my choice, but he can kick ass if he stays healthy)
Jason Spezza
Marc Savard (2nd last year in PointsPerGame? Oh hell yeah!)

Left Wing
Simon Gangne (Hat trick tonight people, watch out. Especially if he's playing with Forsberg)
Sergei Samsonov
Eric Daze (Black ace right now, but could pay off big with a better supporting cast in Chicago)

Right Wing
Marian Hossa (Once again, not my choice, but he's still a solid pick)
Dany Heatley (If the kid can do it, I'll have the best RW in the pool)
Trent Hunter (55 points as a rookie and plays with an edge. I hope improves upon a good season)
Val Bure (I might pick up someone else, but he still puts up the points)

Defence
Scott Niedermayer
Kimmo Timonen (should be better under improving NSH team)
Adam Foote (meh)
Alexei Zhitnik (High PM and decent points)

Goaltenders
Dominik Hasek (Gets into form later in the season, but should be worth it)
Robert Esche (Underrated goalie caps off 1-2 Eastern conference powerhouse team goalies)
Ty Conklin (Edmonton is a better team, Conklin should be decent)

Prepare for destruction, infidels.

Edit: I can't figure out what the N/A next to a player means... Anyone care to help a brotha out?

N/A means "Not Applicable." This player is not currently signed or going to play. If a player is injured however, the letters IR appear next to it.

Unless you think they will be signed, don't pick up N/A players.

So, I'm new to the Fantasy thing. Do you have to edit your lineup each night by adding/dropping players for that specific night in order to get your bench players to play on night's your regulars aren't?

Yes, but you can plan your entire season by selecting the day you want, and then changing the player positions.

At least Prospal, Ryder and McCabe did well for me.

On the posititve side Ryder got me 2 goals including the game winner again. Thank god I fucking drafted him.

Great start outsyder.

Alone in 1st in 6 of 13 categories.
Tied for 1st in another.
Alone in 2nd in 3 more.
3rd in one, 5th in one, and 6th in one.

Let's see:

My second round pick is out fort 4-6 weeks, my third round pick is overweight and has a groin injury, my 5th round pick was a total waste, Jose Theodore wins games but doesn't have a save percentage, I have 4 goalies on my roster because I'm THAT desperate. How am I NOT in last place.

Say, does anyone happen to know off hand why I got rid of Rucinsky?

D'oh!

He was doing okay even before I dropped him, but he's taken off ever since. I'm last in PIM and figure I needed a tough guy, so I took the guy with the 2nd most PIM's last year in Simon. He better start dropping the gloves soon, that move I made is starting to look like Courtnall for Kordic. I could have dropped Zherdev, who's underachieving for me, and picked up some goon right winger, but I figure he'll explode once Nash comes back.

Anyways, just wanted to post about what a dumbass I am.

ToRontoRon
01-18-2006, 07:36 PM
I guess now would be a good time for me to trade Palffy from my team. *sigh*, just one of several underachievers for me this year. Seriously, how can Jacques Martin not install a system for Florida to prevent them from facing 55 shots a game? I took Luongo in Round 1 based on the assumption that Martin could coach defence... I guess he can't. With Ottawa's emergence this year and Florida doing nothing, it's clear that Martin sucks as coach. He just kept his team back, I guess. (In particular #19).

Oh well, the only drama left now is to see if outsyder can get a perfect score of 130. We CAN NOT let that happen people.

Congrats for winning the pool, outsyder. I know it's only a little over half way through the year, but whos kidding who. It's over. (Wish I knew Ovechkin was being made available after the season had started. ;)) Oh well, wouldn't have made a difference.

Time for me to focus on 2nd. You're going down Fantasmo.

outsyder
01-18-2006, 10:36 PM
Too bad for JM. I really thought he'd be able to help the Panthers, and if Luongo leaves, next year won't be very pretty for them.

If it makes you feel any better, I have Palffy in another pool. In that pool, I also had Daniel Briere, so you can imagine my crises.
