Kanye_West-Late_Registration-2005-RNS

Great production, but the "we broke, we broke, we broke" skits get tiring; there are four of them! Still undecided if it's worth picking up, but I think I liked The College Dropout more. I will probably buy it anyways. I have to support Ye, he's single-handedly pulling hip-hop out of the quicksand. Oh, and Jon Brion working on the record, HAVE to support him too; I love I heart Huckabees and Eternal Sunshine soundtracks.

I only wish that the song coordinated with John Mayor, "Bittersweet" were on here. I tried digging it up off of crappy p2p sites, and all I can find are low quality snippits.

In stores August 30th, what do you guys think?

Didn't know it had leaked...I'll have to rummage up a copy on soulseek. When I do I'll post my thoughts, but so far his first two singles have been less then awe-inspiring.

I've had it for a few days and it is nothing special, it cannot hold a candle to "The College Dropout".

The song with Adam Levine of Maroon 5 is extremely relaxing and definitly good on the ears. The rest to me, is just avergae.

Gold Digger is the better of the two singles. Dimonds of Seirra Leone is basically Jesus Walks on crack.

After two listens I think the CD is shit. Not the shit, just shit. Someone once said (I can't remember who) "everyone has one good novel in them, it's the second one I'm interested in." Kanye should have taken this to heart and spent a few more years finding the right beats before shuffling out this piece of shit. Dare I say the best song features Mr. Maroon 5!?!?! Eeeeeep!!!

I don't have the time to voice my opinion in full on here, but:

-one of the better albums of the year (Will most definitely be in my Top 10)

-seems destined to become a hip hop classic album

-the production on this is so lavish and awesome, it makes The College Dropout look amateur

Anybody pick it up and have thoughts to share?

I've given the cd a ton of listens and think it's very well produced, and overall, better than the sum of it's parts. But in my opinion, it still isn't as fun or enjoyabled as "Dropout." He's gotten better lyrically but it's not the kind of disk I can put on and just enjoy. He should bring back Brion and spend a few more months refining his beats next time.

I don't like his first two single, so far, however, I like what Kanye is doing because he actually puts thought in his music--unlike alot of rap artist now a days.

Did yall see what he said on the NBC Katrina-victim program?

I've changed my mind. I heard it about four or five times and now I think its ok. "Roses" is awesome but I really lik "We Major" and "Drive Slow". Kanye cant rap for shit though.

God, I'm quasi-having the same thing happen, Tony. I still don't like "Crack Music" or "Bring Me Down", nor any of the skits, but the other stuff has grown on me. I love "Gone", think it's just great. If the cd trimmed the skits and a few of the duds (the Common Def Jam Poetry crap), it'd be a really solid, more mature albeit not as immediate successor to "Dropout." I'll trim it in iTunes and pretend this is what he made. It is DEFINITELY well produced, Kanye better lock Jon Brion up for life if he wants to continue being relevant.

This isn't normally my type of music, but I had to give it a try after hearing Jon Brion produced 11/16 of the tracks...

...and you know what, I really liked it overall. And I could really hear the Jon Brion influence in many of the songs. I love Gone as well, I think it's amazing how well the strings fit together with the vocals...and Heard 'Em Say, Roses, Hey Mama, Roses, and We Major are probably my favorites so far.

I'm actually quite surprised I enjoyed the album as much as I did. I love the production work on it anyway, I think it's fantastic.

I liked it, but Common - Be was better.
