The movie is just a local no budget 30 minute flick. It's part horror movie, part comedy, and part musical:rolleyes:
Every year in our town we have a big all night event in which you chill in a gigantic theater and watch horror movies until the sun rises. The movie I am auditioning for will be shown here, so it's a pretty big deal.
From a friend that auditoned previously, I learned what I'll have to do.
First, I'll have to read a paragraph, which is no problem. Second, I'll have to read the same paragraph... as a zombie. This is where I have a problem. I don't know if you have ever tried, but talking like a zombie for more than a few short words is extremely hard.
Anyone have any tips? Any certain movie I should watch that I could learn from? Anything that will give me a leg-up will be great.
And I will also have to show my best zombie walk, but that isn't really a problem. I got that down.
Thanks in advance guys.

Well, if you're going to read the paragraph as a zombie, I have a few tips you might want to consider. Firstly, I think it would be best to lower your voice and speak in a very deep tambour. And, as we all know, zombies are not very intelligent, so maybe throw in some stuttering. I would also draw out the dialogue as much as possible, put huge gaps of silence in between every couple of words. And, a fit of coughing every so often might also work.

You could try inhaling the whole paragraph. That usually sounds sickly. By this, I mean talking while taking in a breath. Of course, speak slowly. If there aren't any close-ups, you might try putting something in your mouth to make it more difficult to talk and enunciate.

I think the best advice is actually really simple. Read the paragraph, and then read it as you interpret it. Try to do the zombie voice the best you can. As an actor, you have no idea what the casting director, director, or producer are looking for. So, theirs not really some perfect way to do the part. All you can do is go out there, and read it the way you think it should be done. And if that's not what they're looking for, then you can rest easy knowing that you just weren't right for the part.

I think a zombie would pronounce words the way a child does, except with a deep deathly voice. You know how kids struggle with words, "spaghetti" become "basketti", "hospital" is "hopital." Maybe that helps.

Just go in there and be original. Try do something that makes you stand out to them. Dont be afraid to be physical. (I mean with your actions and motions..not beat them up for the role)
I've worked on a couple of horror film so I know that if you have a good attitude and really try you'll get it.
good luck:D

You should just "mmmm" syllables in a really deep voice... That's what I'd do anyway... No actual words just f'd up groaning. Maybe eat the paper with the paragraph on it... Maybe pretend you're going to eat the casting people, and fall off the stage like a zombie would. Just be ridiculous, but in character the whole time.
