Harrison Ford and Chewbacca in Episode IV, V and VI were great even tho Chewy didn't speak english it was still great.

Humphrey Bogart[/b] and Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca worked wonderfully. Speaking of which, Peter Lorre and Sidney Greenstreet are excellent together.
Another that comes to mind is Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor in Moulin Rouge.

Not so great: Sean Connery/Kevin Costner (I didn't buy that combination for a minute)- The Untouchables

Some bad ones:
Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts in I Love Trouble (According to everything I read about this, she thought he was a slob and he thought she had no talent. They were both right.)
Robert Redford and Debra Winger in Legal Eagles.
Both of these films tried to tap the screwball comedy vibe, but failed miserably.
Makes you appreciate how good Cary Grant was. He carried that kind of stuff off with nearly everybody they paired him up with.
