It's back again for another year for those of you who have been in it before you will know how it works but for those who will be joining that haven't been in the last 2 years here's how it works.

You first pick which team you think will win each game. Then you rate how confident you are about the game. You assign each game a ranking 1-16. 16 being the most confident and 1 being the least confident. So that when you are done, you have a game ranked at each spot (you cannot repeat rankings) meaning you have one 16 team, one 15 team..... And if you pick the game right, you get that many points. The person with the most points at the end of the week wins.

For more here's the link to the original thread.http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthr...mp;pagenumber=1

Now unlike this year there will a couple new things added.

Since people complained last year about the lowest score dropping it will be put to a vote when you sign up you will pick one of 2 options

1. We drop the lowest weekly score at the end of the season

OR

2. We don't drop the lowest scores at all at any point during the season.

That way there will be no complaints halfway throught the year. Since it really dosen't matter to me which way we go I'll only vote in the event there is a tie.

Now let's all have some fun.

Although I missed it last year, I was in for the playoffs, so I'll be in for the regular season.

EDIT: Option Dos.

I prefer option #2 because all points should count, if anyone has a miserable week that is their problem.

I vote option 1.

Sometimes you might forget to post, and it would suck if that one week completely knocked you out.

Well next week the season starts.

Remember there's a game on Thursday so have your picks in by then.

BTW Option 2 won 7-1 so this year all the weeks count.

Well, I did only put a 1 on it. lol

But I just think Pittsburgh is due for a letdown after their blowout win Week 1. Also, Houston looked bad against Buffalo, but they were a 7-9 team last year so they are an average, not horrible team that's capable of an upset. Plus, they're at home and Pittsburgh might take them a bit lightly and look past them to next week's game against the champs.

TheDeadWalk

Offensively, I can see that happening.

The Patriots and The Pack are my two favorite teams and I just can't see Green Bay starting the season 0-3.

Even if they lose this week, I'll refuse to believe it. :)

It can't happen and I sincerely believe it won't.

Although I don't have enough confidence to actually come out and pick this when points are involved, I have a feeling that the Lions are going to beat the Bucs.

For what it's worth, last week I had a feeling the Browns were going to beat the Colts. That didn't happen, but the game was closer than most people thought.

Yes, TB is 3-0. But TB only beat GB because Ryan Longwell sucked on Sunday whereas the Lions made quick work of GB in Week One. Plus, the Lions have had two weeks to prepare and rest up while TB has been running their one and only offensive weapon, Cadillac Williams, into the ground thus far. I say this is the week he breaks down, and the Lions shock some people. Again, just a feeling as my confidence points clearly show I have TB winning.

Oh, and one more small prediction while I'm here. Although I have the utmost confidence that Cincy will start off 4-0, I believe if Jamal Lewis can figure out how to run the football again, that the Bengals will not make the playoffs.

The Ravens offense is just too horrible to get anything done. The defense isn't as good as people think as usual, and they won't make the playoffs. They might pull out a 9-7 season, but right now, they just aren't that good.

And hopefully the Lions can pull it out, but I don't know. Depends on how bad of a game Mooch calls.

Ah, but I agree. I don't believe the Ravens will make the playoffs either. However, I believe that if Ravens can run the ball, then 2 of those 8 or 9 wins will come against the Bengals which when added to the two losses I believe the Steelers will hand the Bengals plus the loss the Colts hand to the Bengals, etc. I was looking at Cincy's schedule last night, and the only way they will make the playoffs is if they are for real, a legitimate contender. I believe they're improved, but I also believe they're going through the cakewalk part of their schedule right now, and when the tougher games kick in, we'll see what they're really all about. I believe they're not good enough yet. And just so we're all clear, I personally am pulling for the Bengals. I'd love to see them make an unlikely run into the playoffs, but I just don't think it's going to happen this year. I say 10 wins gets you into the playoffs in the AFC this year, and I just don't think the Bengals will get it done. The AFC West gets two teams in this year, and the Jags steal the final spot. Now, if something strange happens and 9 wins gets you in, then I concede the Bengals will have a chance as I see them finishing about 9 and 7 this year.

As for Detroit, we'll see. It's just a feeling I have. I think the Bucs might be overlooking the Lions because of how they played against the Bears two weeks ago. But every team is entitled to play a bad game. And last I checked, the Lions still have a lot of weapons on offense, and an improving defense. It's not up to Mooch though, this game rest solely on Joey Harrington's shoulders. He can't go out there, and lose the game for the Lions like he did two weeks ago. That said, Kevin Jones needs to start playing like he did the end of last season because that will take some pressure off Harrington, and make it so the Bucs can't simply defend the pass. Tampa has a tough defense, true, but Jones doesn't have to go off for 150 or something. He just has to get enough so that the Bucs will have to respect the run all day. Say something like 25 carries for 85-90 yards. If Jones can do that, and Harrington can limit his turnovers, I think the Lions walk away the winners.

What does everyone else think?

To keep the integrity and fairness of this game, we can not allow late picks to count. By doing so this week, we would be giving him the best or second best score of the week depending on how tonight's game goes. I don't know about anyone else, but a guy that put his picks in 30 minutes late possibly winning the week doesn't sit too well with me. Plus, he never even made picks, he just said he would take all of TorontoRon's picks. You try to place any bet 30 minutes into games, no one's taking them. At the end of the day, I'll play through the season regardless of what decision is reached, but I would feel as though the game was tainted. He's currently in second place overall, and would make a big jump towards first if his picks are allowed. If he were to win this pool, I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one with a bitter taste in my mouth.

Majority rules in the end, but my vote is the picks don't count. It's nothing personal, it's just the cardinal rule of our game.

I also vote to not have them count. The fact that he just quoted someone else's picks makes it even worse.

It sets a bad precedent so I vote no.

Nothing personal, you understand...

It's cool fellas, no biggie. There's no reason to get your panties in a bunch. The Mack is right, if I was betting (and if I was, I would have taken this a little more seriously) you wouldn't let me make my picks after the games have started. So I don't expect you to do it now. Especially since I now realize how important this is to you guys.

But just to clarify, the only reason I didn't make my picks was because that would have taken me a considerable amount of time, more so than if I just picks some random dude's picks. To tell you the truth, I didn't even read all of his picks, I just wanted to do it as soon as possible.

Also, you guys are right, I am in second place and am in a pretty good position to win the whole thing. But somehow I get the feeling that that's the reason why you guys don't want to accept my picks. I mean, I have almost no chance now, do I? So this gives you guys an opprotunity to move up. And yes, If I did win some of you would have a "really bad taste" in your mouths. But in reality, whomever wins this contest should know that the only reason why you won was becasue I got really drunk one night and was late submitting my picks. How does that taste? :D

Peace...

I think we can make an exception in this case. Just maybe use this game as your 1 point confidence, which you'll lose, and make the rest of your picks. Or, maybe you should have to use your 14 pointer on this, but make the rest of your picks. I guess it depends on what others think, but I don't think taking a 0 this week is fair. And this is coming from the guy in 2nd place.

My vote is for you to have to use your 1 point pick on the KC/Miami game, and losing it automatically.

Judges?

I agree that he shouldn't have the entire week be a wash, I mean he only missed one game. The fair thing would be to remove his 14th pick and have him pick the rest as he normally would.

I was thinking earlier in the week that we should just skip the KC/Miami game this week because I figured it would throw some people off. That said, I agree with Sev. I'm in third place right now, but I don't want to win because of a surprise Friday night game. I think having him do 13 to 1 is fair as it gives him an opportunity to still be in the game.
