I'm fuzzy if I'm gonna get it.

Instead of the norm, I'm going to do this by title.

"300"
I had to go to three FYE to get the bonus disc. One didn't have it. The other said they did, but couldn't sell it to me. Apparently the exclusive was ONLY available to pre-orders. You can't just walk in and buy it with the movie. I was lucky on the third store, but even then the two clerks argued over whether to sell it to me. I got very lucky at Circuit City, I was able to get the collectible cards for free. Images (five of them) from the movie printed on thick cardstock. The one that may have gotten away is Best Buy. When I got there it was sold out. From the stuff I've read online, this appears to have happened throughout Best Buy stores. Here's where it goes hazy. If you were to go to the BB site right now it will show this (http://img404.imageshack.us/my.php?image=300bbsoldoutqo1.jpg), but I got home around noon and ordered one; it went through. I have an email that says it's on back order. I don't know if it's gonna happen or if that's it. I like to hope so. As for the Target deluxe edition... I passed. Not really going out on a limb here, but I'm guessing the download is full of DRM. The bonus feature as described on the box indicate that whatever that thing is, it is exclusive to Target.

"Hot Fuzz"
Some of the stuff I've read kinda pissed me off. Rumor has it that Wal-Mart was selling the feature with a bonus disc. But only attached to the full screen editions. This bullshit has happened before. Target pulled that mess with "Ice Age: The Meltdown". So, it could very well be true. No. At least not this time. I found a few widescreen copies. Sway. It should be noted that Best Buy Canada is selling the film with an exclusive book. What's in it? Don't have a clue.

"Last Stand Of The 300"
This documentary from the History Channel was suppose to have been released on June 26th. That didn't happen until today. I picke this up from Wal-Mart.

I didn't happen to see any "Superbad" promo DVDs. But then again, I was looking.

How naughty. I was leaving disappointed from the FYE in Redlands, CA. Right as I was about to drive away. I saw two girls in shorts and tees enter the store. I don't want to speculate, but I drove away a bit less disheartened.

hi johnian,

thanks for the weeds post.. so basically the cover isn't exclusive (i read that it was on another site. liars.) target merely jammed a little sample book in there.

i had to go to fye yesterday (monday) to pre-order 300 for the bonus disc. will keep the disc and cancel my pre-order tomorrow and get $2 credited back. every dollar counts.

i managed to get 3 sets of the CC cards (bought one copy of 300) cuz i asked nicely (i always ask for 2, and if they say yes, i joke and ask for 10, which has actually worked... anyone need Fantastic 4 Silver Surfer sneak peek bonus discs?) and the girl was nice. gave one set away to a coworker. after work, went back to CC and returned the DVD.

at best buy, as is the case everywhere it seems, the helmets were long gone. so i got rush hour 1 and 2 special editions for the free tickets for rush hour 3. opened them up. no tickets inside. went back to bb and apparently they're separate. but got them anyhow. while i was waiting, i saw a BB employee holding a helmet. another employee asked him "aren't we out of those?" first guy's reply: "but this one is MINE." bastard.

btw i also did the same thing (ordered the helmet online), but i got an email saying it wasnt at my store and prompted me to call best buy's phone service (which sucks). i did that, and they searched every store in BOTH northern CA (where i am now) and southern CA. nothing. same with online. so the woman on the phone said the only thing to do is to cancel the order cuz there are no more shipments of the helmets coming in. check out ebay. theyre going for ridiculous prices (upwards of 3 figures for some).

didn't know about Hot Fuzz. gonna go tomorrow.

as for the SUPERBAD bonus discs, it doesnt say what u have to buy to get it. no details at all. so i just put three in my hand and carried them out with my Rush Hour 1 & 2 purchase. the sensors were triggered, but they dint seem to mind. i gave one to a coworker who is really psyched to see the movie, so i have one for myself and 1 for trade if anyone is interested.

heard you have to sign up or something, so i think ill return it and focus on getting a helmet edition from bb.... which will be very very difficult.

Still some hope.

As I wrote I ordered one of those Best Buy's "300" exclusive helmets. This happened before it was sold out on their website.

Looking about I read that some store might be getting more stocked Thursday. I gave it a shot and went back to my BB. No. But the clerk who helped me said some were restocked in Las Vegas. So it appears that not all the exclusive are gone.

I could still receive mine and well as those who ordered it before it was closed. I have received no email saying it my order was canceled.

Some food for thought.

I only went to three stores. Well... actually four, but two of those were Wal-Marts. But the big news today is I'M GETTING IT!

Got an email today that my Best Buy order for that exclusive "300" helmet went in the mail today. Sway!

Today I had six targets, but took home five. From Wal-Mart I picked up "Disturbia" with their exclusive. And "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" the new SE for the 1978 version. I had to go two stores to find that. The copies that Best Buy had were damaged, the slipcover was all F-ed up.

I had thought the store exclusive was a DVD or maybe a mini-CD-ROM. Nope. It's internet related (http://img523.imageshack.us/my.php?image=distrubiawmpagehl5.jpg). I'll be downloading that later. The site has various clips from the movie and a SINGLE featurette ("Behind-The-Scenes: Private Screening"). It's in either iPod or PSP formats. A couple of wallpapers, mobile stuff, a screensaver (Mac or PC) and a quiz. Meh.

The set comes with a cardboard card (http://img248.imageshack.us/my.php?image=disturbiawmcardhc1.jpg) with a the web address and password. What bugs me is that I wasn't looking. As it turns out the movie comes in a lenticualr slipcover. I was at Circuit City, but didn't see that. I wasn't looking.

From Best Buy I picked up "Flash Gordon" with their exclusive print. I was under the impression it was only one. Not true, it's two prints. A thought pops in my head about "Disturbia", a missed opportunity. You know those 3-D prints, two images at a slightly angle - just as you see with your eyes. The cover is that girl's reflection in the binocular. It would've neat to have that in 3-D; cross your eyes to see her with depth.

I took home a couple of those sale titles from Circuit City; "Dick" and "Saturday Night Live: The Best Of Commercial Parodies". "Dick" is the 2005 re-release. I'm guessing better authoring, the original release came out in 1999. No insert/booklet. The "SNL" disc was ok. I was kinda expecting a few other ads. One that pops to head is "Action Cats".

The other title not picked was "Bubba Ho-tep" the new re-release. I will get that, but not today.

August 9th, 2007 Update

Just came from Target, got my money back.

I'm too friggin' anal. I had to have that lenticular slipcover for "Disturbia". I went to both Target and Circuit City. The latter had a lot of copies of the movie, but no slipcovers. When I asked they didn't know what I was talking about. I then went to Target, there it was. Bought it and as you read above, returned it today (minus the slipcover). I checked online, nope; that slipcover is not a store exclusive. So color me confused.

*sigh* I don't have cable, so I haven't seen "Flash Gordon" the TV series. From what I've read, I'm disappointed. They fucked it up. It should have been set in the 1930s. Our heroes going to Mongo and finding Da Future... space ships like the ones used in the made for TV movie "The Adventures Of Captain Zoom In Outer Space (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventures_of_Captain_Zoom_in_Outer_Space)". Think of space crafts that look like 1950s Chevys. They have interwebs - a series of inter-connecting tubes. Ming is quite the offensive Chinese warlord; as he should be. It would rock. What we get appears to be shit. I understand it would be expensive to film a period piece, but it would only be for one episode. And lets be honest Flash and gang would never get back to Earth. Nuff said.

The box set arrived yesterday, took a couple of pixs. The helmet has some weight to it. Most sway. I'm lucky to be in the minority who ordered on that Tuesday afternoon and got it.

I really didn't have much on my list this day. Anyhow I ended up with three titles. From the three major shops.

From Wal-Mart I picked up "Vacancy" with the exclusive bonus disc. This is a blind purchase. I hope it doesn't suck. For those collector's out there. The whole deal is in a long box, the bonus DVD came in its own case. And the movie comes with its foil slipcover. Nice. I hate when it doesn't. What you want to see...

At Circuit City I picked up from their $6.99 sale "Stick It". It too is a blind purchase. I liked "Briing It On".

I'm an idiot. From Best Buy I bought their exclusive title, the pilot episode from the new Sci-Fi Channel show, "Flash Gordon". *sigh* By the way, they lied. The ad says two episodes from the series. Nope. It's just the pilot. Somebody had to have been drunk to greenlight this.

God. Where to begin? Ok. The effects. "BSG" has a lot of computer generated effects which for the most part look pretty good considering it has a made for cable budget. The ships look realistic. The CGI effects in "Flash Gordon" look like they're from the 1990s. Can anybody say "Night Man"? *shuttering*. They did not blend in with the real; like someone superimposing video game graphics. It just does not work. I pretty much gave my rant about how the series should've been. This REIMAGINING sucks. You just pissed all over what made the concept entertaining. Taken that urine soaked idea, caking on poor visual effects, BUT not before violently inserting bad acting with "Beverly Hills 90201" melodrama. Taa daa! Smells like a winner! Ming. What the fuck? He's a business man, not the evil overlord we've come to expect. The man feels like a lawyer. What a waste.

August 15th Update

I must be an idiot. I went to the nearest FYE (two towns away) and picked up "Vacancy" with their exclusive bonus disc. I called this afternoon asking if they had it, they said two copies. I told them to hold one for me. I get there later and see that the other is gone. I'm glad I asked them to put it aside. The extra copy is now up on Ebay. It has a different foil slipcover, nothing fancy. The top of it reads "Exclusive 2-Disc Limited Edition". The bonus disc comes in one of those adhesive holder/envelope thingies. Anyhow below is the screen shot.

I was observant today on what wanted and what had to be let go - can't have both. Next week is the box set for season one of "Heroes". I had to let slip season three of "House, M.D.". I'll pick that up later, perhaps on sale.

Here's a new one here. Pick N' Save (yes I know they have a different name, but they'll forever be that) I took home "How To Make A Monster: Creature Features". It was Cinemax's remake series of old horror flicks. I have "She Creature", it was decent. I'll give this a try. As you might have guessed, this was a blind purchase... two dollars and mint!

From Best Buy I picked up the two disc set for "Serenity" with their store exclusive, a mini comic book. It's part one (of 3) of "Those Left Behind".

Twenty-five page comic

At Wal-Mart I took home "RoboCop: 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition". I had to go to two stores to find it. One had it listed on the shelve, but empty. Not sold out, just not delievered to the store yet. The same thing happened with "The Monster Squad". I made one exchange on it. Not happy. The Customer Service woman HAD to open it and was forcibly removing the wrapping. Which means she had to grip it hard - she dented the box. *sigh* Done talking about it, pissed. There seems to be trouble here. Our friends up North have gotten screwed. The Canadian release is fucked; disc two is the same as disc one. I checked my copy. Nope. I hope you guys can get that fixed, maybe with an address or a phone number. That sucks.

From Target I bought "Dexter: The First Season". This is another blind purchase. A friend of mine was eager to see this and from the stuff he read said it was cool. So here I have it with the exclusive bonus DVD; "Q&A With The Dexter Cast & Creative Team" - at The Museum Of Television & Radio. I have no screen shot since there is no menu screen.

Overall not a bad haul. Oh yeah, I also had to give up getting that "Darkman Trilogy" box. But I'll be getting that eventually. No worries.

The only thing here on my sights is "Heroes". But I do recommend "Invasion", it was the sci-fi series (reminiscent of "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers") that should've lasted longer than one season. It was about characters and plot. What would happen if you start to notice things very different about your neighbors? These... people are like us; some good, some bad and some indifferent. It made for interesting television. It sucks it ends with an unresolved cliffhanger. But it goes out with a huge bang.

Tangent. What I really want to see, in short; "Night Of The Living Dead" the series done with a "24" clock. The first twenty-four hours of the zombie apocalypse. Think about it. The first few hours would be bullshit, law enforcement wouldn't believe you. There would be a few missing person reports, but that's usual. Then slowly the pot starts boiling. That would rock. I'm happy that "World War Z" is going to get made, but I feel that a theatrical release will NOT do it justice. I needs to be a mini-series at least.

I went to CC for a Q. I went to customer service asking about those tarding cards. They didn't know anything about it. One of them went back and pulled out a box set. It's not a Topps set. It's inside the box. Since the box isn't overly large. I'm guessing just a few cards. This is feeling a lot like the Target exclusive cards of Isaac's paintings. It might very well be the same thing. The sticker didn't say how many cards. Does anybody know any more on this?

Two titles, two exclusives.

I ended up buying "Heroes: Season 1" twice for exclusives; this being Target and Best Buy. I'm still fuzzy on what that card set is from Circuit City. I have no info on that.

The set from Target comes in an exclusive slipcover with four postcard sizes reproductions of Isaac's paintings. And a bonus disc. It is by far the better of the exclusives. What I like is the exclusive disc holder/case. When I first opened it I thought I was missing the extra DVD. No envelope or cardboard sleeve. It's incorporated into the case, an eight DVD holder. Very nice.

The Best Buy comic book (34 pages) fit decently within the case. It's slightly tight, not made for it. The mini comic book is a reproduction of the comic from this year's ComicCon. It's basically three stories from the online comic (which as I write is now at 48 installments).

Wal-Mart and a weak exclusive which had nothing to do with the show. It was just a way to promote other NBC series. That is why I passed on it.

From Pick N' Save I picked up a double feature DVD for two dollars. It's all scatched up on both sides. Oh well, it was just two bucks. The set is "Cut" and "The St. Francisville Experiment". I've been wanting to see the latter for a few years now. If you never heard of it, think "Blair Witch" only set in a haunted house. A mockumentary. The reviews I've read is pretty mixed. I'll see for myself this weekend. That's about it. The extra copy goes on sale on Ebay.

I had a good evening. My extra copy of "Heroes" sold on Ebay for $35.99. I got my money back. Sway. I finally got around to watch "The St. Francisville Experiment" - what massive piece of crap. I'm glad I only paid two dollars for it, otherwise I'd be super pissed.

Lets start this crawl with Best Buy. I went there twice today. I had originally gone there for their exclusive disc for "Resident Evil: Resurrected Edition" set. But they didn't have any copies, they haven't received it. I leave. I forgot to pick up season two of "Robot Chicken". As it turns out Wal-Mart is only selling it online. I return and as I walk to the door I see a UPS truck going into the rear. Hmmm... I pick up season two and wander about for about ten minutes. I then ask for help. Another ten minutes later a box full of the exclusive sets is carried out. I take one and head for check out only to be denied. They say my credit card is expired. WTF? I actually believe them and head for the car. Once inside I give an inspection.

Background. Earlier today I was cashing a check and had difficulty doing it. My BofA checking card had expired. I forgot to put in (and activate) the replacement. So when the clerk at Best Buy said that I thought it was.

I go back to the store pick up a second pair (DVDs that is) and take them to checkout. I end up on the same register with a new clerk. The card goes through without a htich. I'm still puzzled over that. I did luck out on that theater voucher. I appear to have two instead of just one.

A notice for "Robot Chicken: Season Two"; it's not complete. There was a short/sketch of "The Archies" meets "Final Destination". It wasn't included due to legal rights. But... From Circuit City I picked up "Desperate Housewives: Season 3" with their exclusive bonus disc. Sorry no screen snap, it just plays. It happened to me too MovieVVhore. They said the price was $59.99. NO! I pointed to the ad and got it marked down to $36.99. If you haven't MovieVVhore, you need to get that fixed. You got screwed. The release was all friggin' scratched up, I made one exchange. The replacement has some very minor wear

At Wal-Mart picked up "Prision Break: Season 2". And there you go.

Four titles.

I was looking for "The Fly Collection", but I couldn't find it. I'll get it eventually.

From Wal-Mart I took home "The Return Of The Living Dead: Collector's Edition". Had to go to two stores to find it. For those who are curious, the slipcover is different from the DVD wraparound. Plus the slipcover glows in the dark.

At Best Buy I picked up their exclusive set for "Grey's Anatomy: Season Three". I also picked up two of the Alien films, "Alien" and "Alien3". As it turns out the promotion mentioned above has already begun. I don't know about the five dollar gift card. I found out that "Aliens" wasn't part of the sale price. And only took one. Then later I was on errands and returned and bought another.

Best Buy's bonus disc and screen snap

I did do some recon at Circuit City. As it turns out "Dead Or Alive" didn't come out until this week. Which explains why they didn't know about it (mentioned in the last DVD crawl). I'd like to get it, but it's a blind purchase. Could be some serious crap. Anyhow, the exclusive Ninja playing cards (whatever that is) are inside the case. You can feel the thickness. I hope that's not puting pressure on the DVD.

What I need now is the SEs for "Alien Resurrection" and "Aliens". Granted I'd like to get "Alien Quadrilogy". What I'd like to do is put the extra disc in it's own case and print out a custom wraparound from Kinkos (quality paper and printing). This of course means owning the two remaining titles in the individual releases (SE). Wishful thinking.

Dead Or Alive is beyond serious crap.

But, if you watch it with the right mind, it's good crappy camp entertainment.

The best scene in the whole movie is when Bayman cocks his guns. It's before one of his fight scenes. Listen carefully and you'll die of laughter.

Just two places, Best Buy and Wal-Mart.

Picked up the steelbook for "Death Proof" with bonus disc from Best Buy. Sorry, no screen snap; it just starts - no menu screen. I've read elsewhere that stores quickly ran out of copies. Not so at mine, they had plenty. I'll give that a watch probably this weekend, blind purchase. From there I also picked up "Alien Resurrection" (2 disc set) and "Alligator". I now need "Aliens" to finish up the series, too bad that's not part of the sale. Wow. It has to be well over twelve years since I've last seen "Alligator"; should be cool.

That number above isn't correct, it was actually five, but I returned it. From Wal-Mart I took home "RoboCop 3" from the five dollar bin. Now I need the second feature. The store, since I've not seen it anywhere else... yet. They have new lenticular slipcovers for various films. Bought "28 Days Later", kept the cover and returned the unopened DVD. I'm a bastard. They also have a lenticular slipcover for "The Girl Next Door", but all their copies I saw were damaged. I'll have to check the other Wal-Mart. These new covers came out this month. The price tag is ten dollars each. I'm glad I procrastinated on getting the slipcover for "28 Days", the foil one. This looks way cooler.

I'm gonna see if there's a music video collection for "Journey". Popped in my noggin. Listening to them as I type. I'm old enough to remember their arcade video game. It was at a TG&Y store.

new lenticular cover for Girl Next Door? i'll have to keep my eye out for that...

i had a very expensive yesterday, even if you discount the yucky-colored collector's edition Halo 3 xbox 360 i picked up. grabbed Troy Ultimate, lenticular Family Guy Vol. 5 to go with the other 4 lenticulars (passed on Target's oddly-shaped, non-bonus-disc-featuring deluxe edition), and the steelbook Death Proof (my best buy had about 4 or 5 left, and i came at opening, too; i only saw 2 or 3 Troys, but scores of FG5). managed to grab 2 Wall Street business card holders and free ticket to Balls of Fury (expires friday tho).. cashier didn't mind at all. then went to fye to pre-order Planet Terror and got the dual Grindhouse slipcover (for later) and a poster i havent looked at it yet.

Seven titles. But as it stands six.

I only visited two stores, Best Buy and Wal-Mart. It's a slow week, which is good. Next month is friggin' expensive.

All titles came from Wal-Mart. They now have two sales running. One for Halloween themed DVDs for $5.00 and another for $3.98. Good deals.

From the five buck sale; "Frankenstein Unbound" (have that on laser disc), "Alfred Hitchcock's Lifeboat" (blind purchase) and "Breeders". The latter being a title I've been wanting to see since I was little.

It was one of those titles which is pretty much softcore masquerading as sci-fi/horror. The back of the VHS box cover pretty much sumed it up; and was the single reason I couldn't bring it to my mom for her to rent it for me. (1986). I forgot about it all these years until today. And there it was. Will it live up to my imagined hype? Probably not. But it does close a door from my childhood. What was on the back cover? Nude girls in a jacuzzi full of... wait for it - extraterrestrial man-chowder. With smiles on their faces. Things were different back then. Alien bukkake, call Ripley!

From the other sale I picked up "The Last Kiss" (blind purchase), "Match Point" (blind purchase) and "Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer" (blind purchase). Wow, that last one just came out two months go.

There was one new release DVD also picked up and now need to be exchanged (scratched); "Deadly Friend". I'm gonna be doing that tomorrow. Just one problem. I only saw one other copy. Grand.

A heads-up. "The Monster Squad" is now selling for $13.72. It's on that off DVD area rack.

Nothing for me here. I bought "Daredevil" the DC on release day, blind purchase. I know lots of reviews hated the movie. But I liked it. I haven't seen the theatrical version, so maybe there's a good reason for all the hate. "The Towering Inferno", I have it. Irwin Allen has a much deserved rep for cheese. I remember seeing it when it was broadcast on NBC as a two part event. I bought my copy last year and saw it this (I got a whole lot of DVDs). I liked it. It had brains to it. Not mindless crap. A solid flick that hasn't aged much. The two disc set is pretty extensive. And a good commentary too. The set comes with lobby cards and a booklet.

I dare anybody watching the first couple minutes NOT think that the helicopter isn't heading for Isle Nublar, not San Francisco. Spielberg ripping off director John Guillermin or paying it homage? By the way, John Williams did the score for both features.

One last bit on "The Towering Inferno"; actress Susan Blakely (Patty Simmons) was originally going to be Dwan, but the role went to Jessica Lange. Huh? "King Kong" 1976. Man, that movie so needs a deluxe edition. The verison that airs on TV from time to time is about three hours long.

Four titles.

I've read elsewhere that Target as of late has been pissing off collectors. Saying they're gonna have exclusives, but when customers arrive - squat. I was worried today. The store had two exclusives I wanted; "Jericho: Season One" and "How I Met Your Mother: Season Two".

I went there as the store opened. Walking to the DVD section I see a fellow with a copy of HIMYM. Ok. They have it, the basic sense. Nope. My store (San Bernardino, CA) only has ONE copy each of the two titles. I kid you not. I consider myself lucky to have gotten "Jericho". Long story short, I ended up going to another Target in Fontana for HIMYM. Once again, this store had a single copy. So I now have both of them. My gripe besides the obvious is that two discs in the "Jericho" set are scatched. By the way, in taking the screen snap (below). I found out there's a easter egg on disc six - special features, highlight the sideview mirror; "Jericho At Wondercon" featurette.

The bonus DVD is inside the slipcase and the booklet is not labled on the release; no sticker indicating that it's inside. Beside the booklet is a folded inspirational poster. It shows a jet flying high; "AWESOMENESS: When I Get Sad, I Stop Being Sad And Be Awesome Instead. True Story" - Barney Stinson".

"Flight Of The Living Dead" - I had to go to two Wal-Marts to find it. And on top of that, made one exchange. The other was a blind purchase from their $3.88 sale, "The Chumscrubber".

Some info. There are new lenticular slipcovers for "Pumkinhead", "Child's Play" and "Carrie". They're also selling "The Omen" (movie collection) box set for twenty bucks.

I have a question about "Alien3". How many people out there are having problems with the adhesive? The thing that holds the disc holder to the case for disc one keeps popping out. I give it a gentle squeeze to keep it in place. The first time it happened was creepy. I open the flaps to take out the disc, after watching the movie (better version) I see that the disc holder has moved. I give it a tug, nope, it's firmly stuck there. WTF? I ended up getting an exchange. The same thing is happening to the replacement. Freaky stuff, I was at a friend's house when it happened. Like the case is possessed or something. It moved.

I went to both Circuit City and Target for Entourage Season 3 Part 2. Circuit City had the packs with the shirt attached, but they didn't say what size the shirt is! Does anyone know/buy it? I'm sure its the same size for all of them, but it didn't say what. So I moved on to Target. Target advertised a bonus disc with 50 minutes of cast interviews in each pack, but they won't match prices, which sucks. I picked it up anyways. I get home, open it up and guess what . . . no bonus disc. wtf? This happen to anyone else? I'm off to Target tomorrow for an exchange. Hopefully another has it.

I know the Fantastic Four 2-Disc came with a bonus disc at Circuit City and a comic book at target, but I couldn't justify paying $24 for a 90 minute movie that will most likely be released again in extended form in a few months. Oh well.

As for Alien3, I only have the first two, but I haven't had any issues with them being possessed as of yet. But I'll let you know when I do.

Five titles and two CDs.

I wanted to pick up "Wrong Turn 2", but I decided against it. Next week might be expensive. But I will buy it soon - just to take off the slipcover and return it. I'll buy it (and "28 Weeks Later") at a later date. Both are on my list.

Picked up "Night Of The Living Dead 3D" and "Black Sheep: Unrated" from Wal-Mart. I had to make an exchange for NOTLD3D. *sigh* There must be some kind of training or at the very least an instructional video of how NOT to open a DVD case. I'm staring at the clerk as she ripping into the case, it won't open. Nope, not. There are three security stickers; she only opened the one on the side, not the top nor bottom. She F-ing popped the case open. 'Here you go'. Just give me the damn DVD, don't open it. And if you're gonna do it. DO IT RIGHT. I was speechless. On the bright side, the disc was mint. Pisses me off. Here's something odd; I saw "Caligula" on the rack at Wal-Mart. Not the uncensored version, but still.

From Best Buy, brought home "Poltergeist: 25th Anniversary". Yeah, I know, the special features suck! But it's better than the snapper case that was out years ago. And I never bought the film on DVD. They had the best deal on it for ten bucks, it comes in a foil slipcover. I also picked up Blaqk Audio's "CexCells" CD. It comes with two store exclusives, bonus track and an interview download (I'll do that this weekend). I only saw one copy with those extras. It's kinda blind purchase, I only heard a song or two on the radio.

The only thing bought at Circuit City was a CD, She Wants Revenge's "This Is Forever" with store exclusive poster. It's just a bigger image of the album cover. Neat.

Last two were taken from Pick N Save; "Bram Stoker's Dracula Curse" and "Legion Of The Dead". I used a twenty percent off coupon. Good deal. Ok. I know these flicks may be total crap, unfit to wipe my ass. But at that price it's pretty painless. Both are special editions.

There you go. No images this time around and I don't think the poster would fit on my scanner.

Five titles.

We can guess what day this was... "Transformers" day!

I pretty much got what I wanted. Minus one which I hope the community here can help. A give and take. And I'm offering; more on this later down.

Unlike my woes previously with "How I Met Your Mother: Season Two" I was able to find the transforming case of said movie. They were still putting it out when I arrived shortly after they opened. I picked one copy from the box and walked to the DVD area. Looked about and got into a conversation with a fellow who wanted to know if the HD version would play in his DVD player.

Besides the exclusive case the Target edition came with a mini comic book titled, "Transformers: Movie Prequel". It came with a cardboard viewer called "Robo-Vision Decoder". See hidden text within the comic. I didn't remove it. I used the red eye lens from a pair of 3D glasses I got from 7-11 back in 1987 for the then 3D "Eye On L.A." swimsuit special. I've had them for two decades. Wow. Used them recently for the "Night Of The Living Dead 3D" DVD.

I noticed that the comic is made by the same folks who did the comic exclusive for the 2004 remake of "Dawn Of The Dead" (Circuit City).

Two things were taken home from Wal-Mart. Their exclusive for the movie and the re-release with new store bonus disc for "Cars". It's been out now for a couple of weeks. I've been meaning to pick it up. Which I did today.

Sorry. Don't have a screen shot for the bonus disc to "Transformers" it just plays when inserted. I'll give that a watch this weekend. *sigh* With the exception of the featurette "Memory Lane" (which was very good) the rest of the "Cars" material on that second bonus disc is an advertisment for the coming BluRay edition. What wonderous features YOU WON'T HAVE unless you buy (and player too) the new edition. I'll pass. By the way, "Cars" bonus DVD comes in a slipcover.

From Best Buy I managed to pick up the lithogram for "Transformers" and not have to rebuy the movie for a third time (selling my extra copies of it and "Cars" on Ebay). I also took home the steelbook with bonus disc exclusive for "Grind House: Planet Terror". Sorry no screen shot, just plays. It's the "South By Southwest" - Grindhouse 101, March 11th, 2007; Robert Rodriguez and Harry Knowles lecture. Walking out I saw a DHL truck in the front. I asked the guy who was unloading what the acronym stood for. He didn't know. I found it funny.

Lastly for two bucks was at Pick N' Save again. Picked up "New Best Friend", I'm a fan of Meredith Monroe. This could be shit, but it's mint.

Earlier I wrote about asking for some help. The thing missed is the download exclusive ("Transformers") from Circuit City. Did anybody here buy that edition? If someone did, could you please post it on RapidShare (http://www.rapidshare.com/)? To make it easier you might want to Zip it.

It's a give and take. So I'll give...

This weekend (I don't have broadband, but my friend does) I'll upload the online exclusives from Circuit City and Wal-Mart for the films "Cars" and "Distrubia". You might want them.

It will be two download links (zipped). I'm not gonna put conditions to it, anybody here and download them. I just would hope, that someone would upload the Circuit City exclusive.

As for the case. It's pretty sturdy. But the disc holder, the opening out tray feels that unless you do it slowly; disc two will fall out. Other than that, it's pretty cool. I haven't played with it much. Nor will I have it stand on its own. It looks like it would tip over.

From Best Buy bought "Veronica Mars: Third Season" which should have some kind of preface that reads 'final season'. Made one exchange, less than happy. The first had two discs scratched. The exchanged reduced that by one, but that disc is actually worse. Grand. While I was there picked up that "Spider-Man 3" Halloween bag. At Best Buy picked up "Masters Of Horror: The Black Cat". Looked at their exclusive for "Spider-Man 3". The mask is packed with the movie. Not separate like with their Halloween bag. By the way, when I got there, there was a big line of people waiting to get inside. When the doors opened, rush to the DVD section for copies of "Spider-Man 3". Wow.

i ordered Spider-Man 3 off wal-mart.com for the bonus disc and lenticular cover (to complement the 3-disc target edition and gave the one-disc edition away as a gift) and they included a neat lil plush figure in a clear tube-shaped container. a nice little bonus i had no idea was coming

Four stores, two titles.

Picked up the two disc exclusive set of "Ratatouille" from Target. Nice. The bonus disc is packed on the outside of the case. The two disc set from Wal-Mart for the film is pure bullshit. It has NOTHING to do with the movie. The only think I kinda would like is the scratch and sniff recipe cards, but that alone is not worth paying twenty bucks for.

From Wal-Mart I bought "Sicko". *sigh* Not gonna get into politics here, for the most part accurate, but not 100% true. Aways shades of grey.

I wanted to look at the exclusives for "Ratatouille" at Circuit City, but no one seemed to know where it was. Grand. Looked about at Best Buy, I'll get "Chinatown" and "The Two Jakes" later. And probably a lot cheaper.

Nothing for me here, but that's a good deal on the "Resident Evil" set plus bonus material for the third film. Look, I know this is a bastardization of the video game. Personally I would've liked to seen it based on the book adaptations which took the game play and presented it into a linear fiction. But puting that aside, it's entertaining fluff. And great casting for the Jill Valentine, she looks like her game counterpart.

Four stores, three titles.

This is pretty much a meh week. Not much of stuff I'm interested in. It is what it is.

Took home two releases from Wal-Mart, "The Doors: Special Edition" (blind purchase) and "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind: 30th Anniversary Ultimate Edition" with exclusive CD soundtrack. Hmmm. The bonus CD is labled "30th Anniversary Ultimate Edition". I did some checking, I don't have an answer what this is. It's not a re-issuing of the basic soundtrack. Nor is it an edited version (track wise) of the "Collector's Edition Soundtrack" (I need to get that). The track names here don't match anything. Ten tracks, it could very well be just a renaming of the basic release. Don't know, don't have that CD so I can't give you a definitive answer. Anyhow, I had to make one exchange on it. The replacement has far lesser scratches, but it's still there. Shitty workmanship at the factory. As for "The Doors", it's missing the insert/booklet and both discs are scratched. Grand, I'll watch it - if I like it I'll rebuy it from Best Buy. Ten bucks I think.

Looked about at Target and Best Buy; moved on. From Circuit City picked up "Anastasia: Family Fun Edition". I like the movie. Have only seen it on TV though. Should be cool.

Oh yeah, I have an extra copy of the "Film Comparison" poster from "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" box set should someone need it (exchange maybe).

Two titles bought = one.

Picked up the steel book exclusive of "Live Free Or Die Hard: Unrated" at Best Buy; had to make one exchange - disc two was scratched up. Big ass line at customer service. I'm guessing with all the mess going on, they're prepping for Black Friday, which by the way I'm passing. Nothing really there grabs my attention. This and that, but not worth waiting on a cold night at 1AM in a line. Maybe next year (provided the market doesn't crash).

From Wal-Mart took home their exclusive bonus disc; grand, it's only available on the single disc version. Picked up the widescreen edition and now have that for sale on Ebay. Indeed.

Single title and one bonus disc; two stores.

Picked the exclusive DVD for "Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End". Unlike other times when Best Buy had seperate bonus discs they charged ten bucks to buy it without the movie. This time was very reasonable, $4.99. I hope this is the price from now on. Also from them I took home with bonus disc "Battlestar Galactica: Razor". The bonus disc is inside, the DVD case is a two disc holder. Nice. I haven't opened the "Pirates" sleeve, I'll do that when I have an empty case to put it away - so no screen snap, sorry.

I also went to Circuit City curious about that book/booklet exclusive for "At World's End". Could not find it, nobody had a clue. *shakes head*

That's it, had to leave it at that. The car needs to have the clutch fixed. That's happening tomorrow. I'm hoping to get "Lost: Season 3" next week, but we'll see. Anyhow the pixs...

...think the 2 disc edition of POTC: At Worlds End was more than WEAK?

The 3rd disc I got for free at Best Buy had more running time than the 2nd disc on the release. And why no commentary? All the shit from the 2nd disc could have easily fit together with the movie on one disc.

Although the purchase would have been way more weak without the free 3rd bonus disc.

History repeats - single title and one bonus disc; three stores.

Went to Best Buy and picked up the steelbook exclusive for "The Bourne Ultimatum". There were a lot of them there. I wanted to pick up S3 of "Lost", but not at that price which has turned into a good thing.

Next was Circuit City where I managed to get that promo DVD for "I Am Legend" for free, no need to buy two DVDs. Sway. I did however over hear a conversation. Appears a lot of places are selling the new season of "Lost" for more than the store. A guy was looking for a copy. Nope. Sold out. They got twenty and it disappeared by 1PM. Interesting. I have not opened the "I AM Legend" sleeve, not until I have a storage. No screen snap.

At Wal-Mart found out, it is where the bonus disc for "Lost" hid. My local store is selling it for forty. Grand. I'm gonna make an effort to buy my copy from them before they run out of the sets with the extra DVD. Man, I'm so lucky I'm not addicted to coffee. I have friend who spends a mini-fortune on Starbucks.

*** December 14th, 2007 update

Picked up "Lost: Season Three" a few hours ago from Wal-Mart. And was able to price match it to Circuit City's $34.98. There are 2 Wal-Marts near me, Colton and Rialto (Southern California). Generally one of the stores will have a DVD cheaper than the other as well as different titles in the five dollar bin. It pays to look about.

On Tuesday I went to the Rialto shop and see S3 for $39.98. I coudn't pick it up on then, but knew I wanted it with the bonus disc. They have a bunch of copies, so I have time. The Colton branch is selling it for $44.98.

A few hours ago. I went to Rialto with the Circuit City ad in hand. What did I see? They changed the price. It's now $44.98. Huh? This has never happened before. Did they get F-ing greedy?

I also looked at the ten dollar shelfs for a copy of "The Girl Next Door" with the lenticular slipcover (it's a Wal-Mart exclusive mentioned a few months back). I was able to find a good copy (usually the slipcover are all ripped up). Used some wood glue to fix it up a bit, the edges. Tomorrow I'm gonna be returning it, minus the SC. I'm a bastard.

One title and various recon.

Picked up Halloween: Unrated from Circuit City with bonus disc. Hmmm. The ad reads... "Free bonus disc with 45 minutes of extra content including a behind-the-scenes look at Rob Zombie's Halloween". Sound good?

The actual disc (inside the case, in an envelope) is only about twenty minutes long and is footage from 2007 ComicCon, panel discussion. Unless I got a different bonus disc what happened to all the above extras? There is no screen snap here since there is no menu, it just plays. *sigh* Anyhow, the exclusive map of Springfield for Simpsons The Movie is inside the case.

I did pick up another "I Am Legend" promo disc. AND I finally saw that free booklet for "Pirates Of The Caribbean: At Land's End". It was seperate, the copy I saw. I tired to get the clerk to sell it to me. But he said he couldn't. Oh well. It looks nice. Not so much fluff, looks informative.

At Best Buy looked at the "Blade Runner" case. Oh man, that's so cool. I want one. The only thing to report here is seeming what appears to have been an old school punk buying CDs; a middle age man with a mohawk. Something you don't see everyday.

Correction. There is another.

Best Buy has the exclusive lenticular slipcover for "Halloween". I was going to buy it and return it later minus cover. But I'm glad didn't. I had the hindsight to check the UPC numbers. The ones with the slipcover has a sticker over the bar code - with different numbers. If you did do that, they would probably ask where's the cover? Damn. Clever bastards.

Circuit City wasn't selling "Dark Crystal: 25th Anniversary Edition" (two disc set), at least mine wasn't. They said when asked a couple of the titles in this week's ad they didn't have. That would be one of them. I was able to price match from $19.99 to $5.99 at Best Buy today. Sway.

Picked up the two disc set of "Hatchet" (unrated with theatrical) from Circuit City and price matched from $19.99 to $16.99 (Best Buy's sale). I've heard a lot of good things about the flick. The other news is the exclusive for "Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End", the mini booklet (couple weeks back). I now have it! I had to go to customer service to price match the DVD and when it was over I asked if I could buy the booklet. The clerk said no and gave me a free copy. Outstanding. Now I need to just buy the movie. The booklet is 97 pages and very informative; including ship cut-aways. I like it.

There is a sequel to "Crank" in the works. Not a new character. I can only guess the ending we saw was his mind losing it. It was very cartoony, but in a good way.

if memory serves me correct, Altered is an Alien flick by Dan Myrick (SP??) one of the dudes who created The Blair Witch Project (which i loved)... and this flick was one of the biggest pieces of shit i ever seen! The last DVD Crawl for 2007.

I hope you had a excellent Christmas and short lines for those who made exchanges.

Received a thirty dollar Best Buy gift card. I have slightly less than six bucks left. I'll probably use that next week on "Resident Evil: Extinction".

The exchange line was far too long. I was glad I didn't have to worry about that. I took with me a list of titles I wanted. There were two titles which were must(s), the rest were alternatives.

I wanted the special edition of "From Beyond". I did find it, the store only had one copy. I know this since I saw it last Tuesday and the weeks before that. Nobody wanted it. Cool. I pick it up and hear a rattle. *sigh* Not only a rattle, but something else... something broke off inside. I can tell you this was not the situation last week. Some ass dropped it hard or some kid threw it. Either way I didn't pick it up.

The other must have I couldn't find. I wanted "The Sarah Silverman Program: Season One" from the store since they had the exclusive bonus disc. The last time I was there they had a bunch of copies. I couldn't find it. Grand. At this point I went looking for my alternatives.

No "Fifty Pills", "Big Bad Swim" or "Bikini Bloodbath". I did find "Soylent Green", "Outland", "Logan's Run" and "Cashback", but not at a price I was willing to pay. I did find copies of the two disc set for "Latitude Zero". Pissed me off.

I went back to the TV area and tried one last time for "Sarah Silverman". I found a single copy in the wrong place and with the label - bonus disc inside. Outstanding! I intended to take home two titles so I went back to the Sci-Fi section for "Latitude Zero" and noticed something. My Best Buy is selling it for a cool price, $12.98 - a two disc set. And somewhat of a speciality item. But of the three copies they had I saw one mispriced. It read, $7.99 - WOMEN EXTREME WRES/SPOR. Hmmm. I wonder if I can get this at that price? Took a chance.

While waiting in line I saw a bunch of the packets for "Enchanted" free movie certificate. I took one. One; I will probably buy the movie and will use that as part of my collection. Two; I may need this as a distraction. Glad I did.

She rang it up for $12.98. I pointed out the price and she called a rep to change the register amount. At this point she picked up the DVD and was going to see the price label was for the wrong release. I give her the "Enchanted" packet and ask 'how much is this?' She did a price check on it, free. And put the packet on the mislabeled DVD. The fellow came, enter the code and there it was. I got it for the lower price. Sway!

I did go to Wal-Mart for some recon, saw nothing already posted and left. There you go. Below are screen snaps from the bonus discs. Yes. Plural. "Latitude Zero" is actually a three disc set. I come with an extra DVD of trailers from Tokyo Shock.

Hmmm... They're a different people, the Japanese. Movies - "Attack The Gas Station" and "Zebra Man". WTF!?! Of all the animal kingdom to put yourself into... You got Spider-Man, it works. Then say Batman, the dark knight, goth in all. He-Man, that's sort of works in a implied gay way. Aqua-Man; in his environment he's formidable, on land he's as powerful as opening a can of mayonnaise. You got Hawk-Man... oh God. But of all them, a Zebra? Don't they just run from danger and when they're not running away they simply get killed?

I did see a trailer for a feature I'm most curious about, "Dragonhead". I looks like the Japanese version of "The Day After Tomorrow". Anyhow, the snaps.

Man, I need that "Blade Runner" case set.

Three store and four titles.

First off was Best Buy, picked up "Resident Evil: Extinction" with their exclusive pack. I only saw three of them there, not ten. And I was there about 10:30 AM. I liked the film series for what they are, popcorn flicks. But in all seriousness, it should NOT be called Resident Evil. Anyhow, I'm not sure if I'm gonna take it out of the sealed bag. The other two I saw were opened. I guess some were curious what it looked like outside the wrapping. They should've done that as a more fitting exclusive for "24" - the Jack Sack.

Using the online coupon I bought "Stardust" for ten dollars, though I had some problems. First the cashier rang up the DVD for $19.99 instead of this week's sale price of $14.99. Add to that, the coupon wouldn't scan. He ended up overriding it. This is a blind purchase, but I've heard a lot of good stuff about it.

The same goes for "Fido", zombie comedy flick. I bought it and exchanged it. Then got a refund. Then went to Circuit City and price matched it to Best Buy's tag of $19.99 (CC had it for $22.98). Still scratched. But to a lesser degree. I'm not gonna try this again. Somebody is slacking at the factory or in quality control. Hell... both.

While doing recon at Wal-Mart I picked up the two disc Anniversary Edition of "Labyrinth". Not gonna make inappropriate Connelly comments. This release is with the lenticular slipcover. On December 19th, I picked up the two disc set for "Dark Crystal". Solid companion flicks, from back in the day when they did the work and not just rely on CGI. A lost art form.

Finally got around to watching "Casablanca" a few months back. I liked it. I was expecting it to be something hyped by critics over the decades. There are so-called 'classics' I've seen that I didn't care for.

Great characters and cinematography; there a scene at Rick's that I had to go back to see if I saw what I saw (the camera went through a wall). "Citizen Kane" goes without saying. In fact in this political environment, it's quite suited. I've never seen "Doctor Zhivago", I might give it a try. I remember back in the day I was going to pick up the SE laser disc box set, but decided to pick up some other title instead; might have been "Tron". I should mention this, the DVD SE is missing a deleted scene that's only on the LD box ("Tron").

Picked up five, came home with four.

Bought the box set for "Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest". The SE comes with a bonus disc. Nothing really, it's a digital version of the episode; loaded with lots of DRM. Oh joy. Anyhow, I'm curious about the 3D part of the program. I'm not going to open up the glasses. I ready own a pair of red and blue specs.

From the Wal-Mart five buck bin bought "Hollow Man 2" with slipcover and the 2006 re-release of "Virtuosity". I already own both movies; for the latter I wanted to replace my 1999 copy. It's now in anamorphic widescreen and better compression. I'm an ass. "Hollow Man 2" was purchased just for the foil slipcover. After checking the discs for FGPBH and V, I went back to the store and returned the DVD minus said slipcover for a refund. Not really much of an issue since I only saw one copy of the movie with the cover, the rest were naked. Which in a way is appropriate.

I partook Best Buy's ten buck sale - 2 two disc sets. I brought home a title I had on my sights for years now, "Around The World In 80 Days: Two-Disc Special Edition" (1956 flick). Sway. I remember watching that on KTLA's "Family Film Festival" when I was little kid.

Ok. For those who don't know or lived in the early 1980s in Southern California, "Family Film Festival" was a weekend program hosted by Tom Hatten. He would show a movie during the afternoon on Saturday and it would get repeated the following day at 10 AM (right after Hatten hosted a "Popeye" cartoon show). Good times. Every now and again he would interview one of stars or director of the film in between the commercial breaks. It was a cool show that introduced me to a lot of movies I would not have normally seen. I now have a lot of those features in my DVD collection. What I need to get is the 1989 NBC remake with Pierce Brosnan as Phileas Fogg. I have it on laser disc as well as the rare CD soundtrack. It's on DVD, but out print for years. There was cheap version in the five dollar bin a couple years back. I can only shutter at the kind of picture quality it has as a single disc release (it was a three part mini-series). You know what would be a good companion title? "Blake Edward's The Great Race". I need to get that too.

The second two disc-er was a title I ment to buy from back in the day - my laser disc years; "Doctor Zhivago". I remember wanting to get this but opted to buy the LD box set for "Tron" instead. Both were about the same price. Looked at my archive, about twelve years ago. I have them now. The only downside is I had to made exchanges on both. Both titles were scratched up. And now? A lot less. Still some, but very fine vs. hard gashes. A word of warning; "Doctor Zhivago" disc one is double sided. I wouldn't mind a three disc set, flippers are a pain in the ass to clean. It's true.

The only target here is season three of "The Girls Next Door". It's a fluffy show and I love it so. It's weird to see it being sold at Wal-Mart (S1 and S2). A true classic everyone should own, "Blazing Saddles" and at a good price. Do it for Mongo!

If you haven't picked up "Jericho" you should. A good show brought back from cancelation by fans (season 2 starts next month - seven episodes). It's too bad they failed to bring back "Veronica Mars". I miss that tiny blonde one.

Two titles.

Picked up from Target the third season of "The Girls Next Door". I was there around 12 PM. I got their last copy. Wow. But then again, they were the only ones selling it for twenty bucks. The three discs are mint. I mention this since the last two box sets had poor DVDs - all scratched up. I had to make exchanges to fix them. I hate that.

The other release is from Best Buy; "Breakfast At Tiffany's". The ad showed the basic edition, but my store was selling the SE instead. I don't know if other stores are doing that. A great price on it (a blind purchase).

I do have a Q.

Today from the mail (Deep Discount) I received "The 6th Day" two disc SE. Mine didn't come with a booklet. Did it not come with one? Color me curious.

Two stores, four titles.

Today was a long day. Had my first of two root canals. I had a good dentist; there were some sharp pain, but was then given more novocain. Talking to friends who have had it done scared me. They had TONS of pain afterwards. It's been eight hours later (no pills... yet). I feel a very faint pressure there. I don't know. Maybe I got lucky and the next tooth will be the one to that pulls me by the balls. I hope not. I really do.

At Wal-Mart I picked up from the five bucks bin "Starship Troopers 2". I've been reading about how this flick was now in the bin (for weeks). My local store now has it. But only three copies. Got mine. Also there I took home "Lake Placid 2" and "Groundhog Day: 15th Anniversary". I was going to pick up the SE for "El Cid". But didn't and I'm glad I passed.

Tonight I had to go to Best Buy for a friend's birthday gift. While I was there I headed for the DVD section. I'm such a junkie. As it turns out there a box set for "El Cid". It has two 1961 reproductions; the souvenir program and comic book. It also has six postcard size stills, though I have seven. An extra copy of Heston on a horse. I picked that puppy up. For anals like me... the DVD set inside the box does NOT come with the foil slipcover. I'm probably going to re-buy the feature for it and return it minus the cover. This is a movie I haven't seen in probably fifteen years. I remember I liked it.

Two stores - three titles.

I was going to pick up "Marie Antoinette" from Best Buy's $7.49 sale. But opted to purchase "The Princess Bride: 20th Anniversary Edition". I know I enjoy the latter. The other DVD will come back on sale soon enough and maybe at a cheaper price. I'll wait.

The other locale was Wal-Mart. Since I didn't have any targets this week I took home a release I've been meaning to buy for some time; the box set for "Hot Fuzz". Sway. While there I looked about at the store's Valentine sale - repackaged stuff with new fronts. One took my attention, the two disc SE for "An Affair To Remember". I'll give this a try. Seeing which ones didn't have shelve damage (dents) I saw that there were two copies with their original slipcovers. I grabbed one.

Everything is mint. Should be interesting.

Oh as to a subject in the last Crawl; I did get that slipcover for "El Cid". My copy is now complete.

Looking at next week... I don't see much of interest. Granted will be be looking out for "Zapped!", but only when it comes down on price. I'm not paying $14.98 for a bare bones title - no trailer. Maybe in the $4.99 range.

Two stores - one title.

I had no real targets this day. Granted I would have liked to have picked up season one of "The Equalizer", but I'll wait until the price comes down. Looked about at Best Buy and left.

Last night I finished watching "Breakfast At Tiffany's". It took about two weeks. Things kept getting in the way. I liked it (Holly is an escort). I'm curious. So I went looking for "Roman Holiday". I found it at Wal-Mart under their Valentine sale. The sign read ten dollars. But when I checked, it was actually five bucks. Cool deal. Picked that up. And three pairs of socks. That was it.

Oh yeah. Last Crawl I wrote about buying the three disc set for "Hot Fuzz". I play my DVDs on my laptop. I found out something. The second disc is labeled Wal-Mart. It's the same disc the store had as an exclusive when the release first came out. A bit a trivia for you. Indeed.

Two titles one store.

Today was my conclusion - the crowns were put in. I've learned the hard way. Folks take good care of your teeth. Indeed. They look very much like the rest of my mouth, same color. I have a very off white hue to mine. Anyhow, I should be back to my old self in a couple of days.

I just went to Wal-Mart today. No real targets. But I did take home two DVDs, both blind purchases and westerns. From the five dollar bin I bought "Once Upon A Time In The West" two disc SE. And from the newly sorted ten dollar area, "Rio Bravo" it too a two disc special edition. I hope they don't suck.

A lot of people love "The Wild Bunch". I bought it and sold it. It wasn't for me. I'm kinda sure I'll like "Rio Bravo", don't know about the other.

Nope. I'm not into used DVD so much, unless mint. I'm anal about that. And no stickers (video store labels). For my used stuff I buy from off-Amazon sellers and of course Ebay.

Though I might consider it just to get the insert/booklet dirt cheap from the titles I'm missing. I have about a dozen titles which didn't come with it.

i saw it today and reserved it, said $29.99 but they said it should be cheaper....

anyways, looked on the back of it it said making-of documentary but they took it away before i could read more....

whats real cool (at least i think) is that the dvd case is in a cardboard case (like original batman begins 2-disc) and its the ACTUALLY GOOD cover art, the red and black original poster art

i just grabbed that "Exclusive 2-Disc Limited Edition Set" of 30 Days of Night from fye, along with a couple copies of Beowulf Director's Cut steelbooks. 30 Days of Night was $22, and you can mail in an additional rebate for $5. Pretty good deal, especially for fye!

Anybody grab Beowulf at Circuit City? What exactly is the exclusive bonus content? Just downloadable stuff? It didn't feel like there was an extra bonus disc inside...

Five stores - three titles.

I have to say I was bummed out about not getting the two disc edition for "30 Days Of Night". I went to Redlands today (two towns away from where I live) to the FYI store only to find out it has closed down some time before. Looked online and discovered that there has been closures; Redlands, Fontana and Riverside. And before that they closed the Suncoast at my local mall (owned by the same company). With that, there is no stores anywhere near me. Grand. And to ice that disappointment cake, that exclusive is not listed on their website - in store only. F-ing great.

Picked up both weak-ass (internet) exclusives from Circuit City for 30 Days Of Night (http://www.sonypictures.com/homevideo/30daysofnight/exclusivedownloads/) and Beowulf (http://www.beowulfmovie.com/ccgrendel/) (clicky clicky). The bonus featurettes for "Beowulf" are FLV videos; 22.6 and 26.3 megabytes. If you want to download them send me a PM (but you need some kind of FLV player). I had to make one exchange on "Beowulf" since it was scratched.

Picked up the new-ish SE for "Hudson Hawk" from Best Buy. It's been on my list for some time. I have the older release. I'll have to check if the extras from that one carried over. If so, I'm selling that.

From Target picked up their exclusive comic for "Beowulf". I'm so anal. It's now on Ebay. It was here I ran into some problems. The price info label for it reads that both the regular and director's cut have the comic. As it turns out only with the regulars. After talking to the clerks and getting help from the stockboys, it got resolved. I also overheard something and I investigated. Oh the comic is a prequel to the movie.

A few weeks back Target had an exclusive book for "Across The Universe". This store NEVER got them. I bought mine from both Wal-Mart (for their exclusive hardback booklet) and FYE's website, their exclusive two disc set. *sigh* Anyhow, I wonder how many people got this book from Target. I didn't investigate it then since I passed on their exclusive.

Just did recon at Wal-Mart. Did find a title I'm curious about, "Jesse James" the 1939 fim. Saw it there for seven fifty. I might pick that up next time. As for the titles mentioned last Crawl... I really liked "Rio Bravo". Swift dialog. Not so much a plot as it is character driven. I really like the comradely. I got the same feeling from another Hawks film, "The Thing From Another World" - folks who've known each other for a long time. As for "Once Upon A Time In The West", not for me. It has good production values, but I just do not care about any of the characters.

Wal-Mart's exclusive hat thing is side packed with "30 Days Of Night". It should be noted that the foil slipcover is not part of this release. For those who care.

I guess my only complaint here, besides FYE is that the bonus stuff on "Beowulf" does not include any featurettes on the motion capture done by Angelina Jolie. C'mon Zemeckis, you knew guys wanted that bonus. Hell quite a few of them would've bought the DVD just for that.

Oh yeah a heads up. Rumor... "Cloverfield" is coming out on April 22nd; single and two disc editions. No idea what the extras are. What I'd like to see is more party footage; Lily and Beth dancing together. There's just something very sexy about that. They're having fun and don't care. And both are very easy on the eyes. It's a guy thing.

I might pick up "Chicken Run", but I can't say I was too impressed with it; "Curse Of The Were-Rabbit" on the other hand was awesome. Maybe "Team America", not sure. I do recommend the "Final Destination" films. The second installment in my opinion was the best in the series so far. Number four is coming. The disaster this time happens at a speedway. I can see race car having an accident and jumping off the pavement into the crowd. I hope then when it eventual comes to DVD that it too will be in 3-D. It's weird, but there is a whole gen of folks who have never seen "Strange Brew". It's a must along with "Blazing Saddles".

I don't see anything I want. The only target I have for this week is the box set for "Day Break" with unaired episodes. I know it was slated as a limited run series, I hope the ending isn't... crappy.

One store - three titles.

This week is bland for titles of interest. In the end I made two blind purchases.

All were purchased from Wal-Mart. I picked up that DVD mentioned last crawl, "Jessie James" (1939). It was just $7.50, so I'm not that concerned I won't like it.

The other title was something I've read at various horror websites. Quite a few positive reviews - "Automaton Transfusion". I was curious if Wal-Mart was going to carry it, the cover is kinda graphic. I knew there was a slipcover for it with an altered imaged, a critic quote over the bloody torso. The slipcover was actually sealed under the wrap. I guess to prevent impressionable folks from being exposed to zombie artwork. I hope this doesn't suck. I know there has been some fuss over it. As I understand, it does not come in anamorphic widescreen, just matted even though the text on the back reads different.

The last item has been on my list for some time, never got around to picking it up until today and at a great price too; $6.98, "Waxwork/Waxwork II"; a double feature DVD. Normally I don't like that. But considering that they never released them independently, this is about as good as it gets. *sigh* Both films are full screen. I'm not certain, but it appears that "Waxwork" is the unrated version.

The first "Waxwork" was most sway. I remember that guy the vampires were holding prisoner, picking at his open wound like a snack.

It's a fun romp. I honestly don't remember much about the sequel. On the December 21st, 2007 DeadPit podcast (www.deadpit.com) (weekly) they had an interview with star Zach Galligan. He talked about making "Gremlins" and this. Writer/director Anthony Hickox was dating star Deborah Foreman and during the four week production dumped her for co-star Michelle Johnson. That's awkward. If you haven't I highly recommend DeadPit, it's two horror fanboys (Uncle Bill & The Creepy Kentuckian) from KY talking about their passion. Plus they have an impressive collection of interviews - George A. Romero, John Carpenter, James Wan, Fred Dekker and other genre stars. Great stuff! I have the entire show archived. I'm so anal.
