just watched this movie again last night... and i have to say, it is seriously one of my all time favorite flicks! The action scenes are all fuckin amazing, the music is perfect.

Am i the only person who fuckin LOVES this movie, enough to call it my Fav Action flick?

I looked up the numbers.. it cost 88 Million to make and grossed 112 Million Domestic and over 400 Million worldwide, ,so it was a hit.

They were originally gonna have Stallone and Schwarzennegger for this flick.. and set it in the future! Thank god John Woo took over though! he set it in present day and thats when Nicolas Cage and John Travolta took over. There is no way this movie would have been even half as good if it wasnt for Woo, Cage and Travolta in what i believe to be one of his finest performances.

My 2 favorite scenes are when they are at that guys house and they both jump up looking into the mirror (like they were looking at their enemies)

And then towards the end when Travolta is at Lazarro's Funeral... and they have that churchian music playing when Cage is walking up the hill... the music was perfect... that whole scene in the church was just poerfect in my opinion! And made all the better with Woo's Signiture Doves flying by!

Just figured we could start a chat about what i consider to be one of the best flicks i have ever seen!

I love this movie as well. The action is w very well done. If you want the best you go to Woo. But Skynet, if you thinking about calling this your favorite action movie ever, check out The Killer or Hard-Boiled. Those two blow Face/Off away, easily.

Great movie! I love the story, the action, the performances - especially by the two leads, and the one-liners ("I could eat a peach for hours."). It's definitely my favorite John Woo movie.

Funny that i had to chance to watch this again this past weekend. Anyways, I agree with you completely, this movie has got all the right stuff. Sex, violence, terrorism, great story and great acting. This movie made me love cage and respect his performances in other movies. 10/10 this movie is the shit, and for me will always be in my top 20 for the sheer fact that it just kicks ass.

i really like Face/Off a lot, excellently directed and acted with some amazing action scenes, although the only thing stopping this getting a 10/10 from me is the face that Travoltas face wouldnt fit on Cages and vice versa

travolt was the ultimate psychopath in this movie.

One of the best "Good times at the movies" movies. It's great fun, although the whole running hands over people's faces cheese really pissed me off, as did the really cheesy ending.
However, there are great one liners
"If you dress up like Halloween, ghouls are gonna try to get in your pants"

The thing that always made me laugh about the whole concept is that while Nic Cage is a pretty lean guy Travolta is kinda chubby, yet when they trade faces their builds also inexplicably swap as well.

It'a little over long, but I loved it. I especially loved John Travolta's performance. He rocks in that movie. So does Nic Cage. My second favorite John Woo flick (after the underrated Windtalkers). However, as much as I loved it, I think they actually could have done more with the premise. But it's still great. I'd give it an 8/10.

It's in my top three.

On a scale of one to ten, Face/Off gets a fifteen.

Sorry, but I think Face/Off blows away The Killer and Hard Boiled - both great action movies, but little to no plot, bad acting, horrendous dialogue, etc. Face/Off is the apex of John Woo's career... it's been all downhill ever since. I doubt Spy Hunter will be a return to form, but surely it will be better than Paycheck.

There are great little touches in Face/Off, like when they kidnap the doctor and he says "What do you want?"

And Castor says "Take one god damn guess!" While smoking a cigarette... without a face.

It was literally face... off...

You just don't get that kind of creativity anymore.

I think it's brilliant. I can't stand action, but this movie is something different, especially thanks to decent screenwriting, directing and the awesome leads.

I thought that it was a smart action film with great acting by the leads and great direction.

It's been a good long while since I've seen Face/Off, but I remember liking it for the most part. Great popcorn movie, with loads of violence, and some pretty memorable lines. My fav?

Exactly, I must be in the minority here as I thought it was a laughably bad flick... Just terrible.

Indeed one great flick!

I think this movie has one of my favorite opening, with the great theme right in and the "happy scene" in slow motion before the chaos. A great way to set the confrontation right from the start.

My favorite line :

"I got a government job to abuse, and a lonely wife to fuck.
I'm sorry did I say that... make love to!"

I gotta say though that Cage is unleashed in this, but that's alright with me...

One of the better action films out there. One of Travolta's and Cage's best. They made a good team.

Plus, the first time I ever heard the word "tiramisu" in a film.

IMO John Woo's 2nd best movie (first being Hard Boiled). Gets a kick-ass 9/10 from me.

I don't want to go too far off topic here, but this is where the appreciation for John Travolta's talent gets lost. He was very good in Face/Off. He was absolutely AMAZING in Broken Arrow (which is a tremendously under rated action movie in it's own right...pardown Christian Slater, even though he does put on a decent performance.) And also his acting is Swordfish was absolutely top notch. He and Nicholas Cage's roles in this movie was absolutely brilliant. It wasn't good enough to put in my top 10, but it could definately make a run at my top 20 or 25.

I totally agree with the majority of you guys here. This movie rocks!
The action sequence with "Somewhere over the rainbow" is just amazing. You really feel sympathy for the "bad guys". Just perfect.
And for the slo-mo action scenes, MI-2 eat your heart out!

I never understood the appeal of The Killer of Hard-Boiled. I've seen them so many times, and yet I still find both of them highly overrated. Watching them now, I just grimace at some of the awful dialogue. The action scenes are great of course. Maybe I've just outgrown John Woo's style of filmmaking because I was more impressed with the storytelling in Infernal Affairs then either Hard-Boiled or The Killer. Just my 2 cents.

Love the film, just like the majority it would seem. I love Nicholas Cage's nutty performance as Caster Troy.

Favorite scene : In the building that Troy places the bomb and he starts dancing along with the church choir - then grabs one of the choir girls ass. Hillarious!

I'll be the first to agree that both HB and TK are lean on dialogue and plot. I'm just saying that if you want balls to the wall, you go with those two.

Face/Off is definietley up there in terms of great action flicks. For me it was the pretty much the movie that made me hold both Nic Cage and Travolta as two of the best actors around today. I still love to watch this movie every once in a while.
