View Full Version : The O.C. Season 3

I liked it, too.

In the season 2 thread I said Tre probably wouldn't die and the majority thought he would. I'm glad to see he didn't, though.

So tonight was the begining of The O.C. season 3. Pretty good season opener if you ask me. What did you shmoes think?

I give up. After having the s2 finale on and finally liking it at the end, I had hope for s3. All down the drain.
When julie went into the room of the guy who tried to rape her daughter to offer him a deal to blame ryan for the shooting, I turned it off. She sounded like a James Bond villain, and they even had the evil music cue when trey opens his eyes and sees her.
It's just a stupid melodramatic soap now.

Still like House though, and Prison break was entertaining, and hopefully Bones will be good, so there are still plenty of things to watch on Fox.
One down. ..

It wasn't quite as good as the finale but I thought it was very good nonetheless. And I completely disagree that Julie sounded like a Bond villain. I've always found her to be one of the more interesting characters on the show and that hasn't changed. I loved Sandy's line to Ryan how he's got one hell of a girlfriend and if they ever get married he'll have one hell of a mother in law :D . Anyway, it was better than last year's premiere and it's a pretty good start to the new season. On a side note, I'm disappointed that Tate Donavan isn't a series regular, but I hope he sticks around for a long while.

I thought it was alright, an ok way to waste 45 mins. I always find it funny how whatever spectacular catastrophe happens, it always gets sorted out in one episode, lol.

I feel like they let too much slide here. I thought it'd set the stage for a whole season of betrayal and other conflict, but nah - it all sorted out pretty well. No new characters, from what I remember, and not much of a hint of much to come. I just got into this show halfway through last season. Although I overall enjoyed this ep, I was expecting a bit more suspense.

Maybe FOX was going lite because of the premiere of REUNION - who kows?

Great soundtrack as usual.

Damn my posted ended up second. No third. Thanks Skysaber

I don't understand that either. You made the post, I replied, yet I'm first? Odd.

I liked the season opener. Nothing special but it wasn't nearly as boring as the S2 opener.

Another good episode last night. They really did well with Jimmy's makeup, he looked bad. I thought they were going to kill him, when they showed him in the water head down. Next week will be good, seeing Julie struggling without having money to make it.

Yeah, for a while there I was worried that they had killed Jimmy during the commercial break. Fortunately, he was just badly beated. Sucks though that he's left the show. He is one of the better characters on the show.

Ratings for season so far:

Ep. 1 A
Ep. 2 A
Ep. 3 A-

Superb season so far.

I didn't get to see last Thursday's epidsode because I didn't get home till late. Could someone give me a runthrow of what happened?

09-27-2005, 04:20 PM
Yeah sure, if you don't want to know spoilers don't read:

The will gets read and we learn Caleb was broke. He had a a lot of loans. So nobody gets any money, we assume that Kirsten gets the company. Jimmy can't pay back the guy and gets beat up pretty badly. He leaves, but before he does Marrissa says if you leave don't come back. Charlotte was renting that cabin that her and Kirsten were staying in and her checked balanced and she must get out. Ryan and Marrissa have a wonderful night together thanks in part of Seth and Summer. The episode ends with Kirsten coming home.

Episode three was the best of the season so far, I think. It played almost perfectly to the show's strengts and the sountrack was awesome.

I love how this show can go from shitty dramatic scenes to incredibly good dramatic scenes in a matter of seconds. One minute you're pretty much laughing at something "serious" and the next you got a lump in your throat. Awesome.

My one qualm is the apparantly regular introduction of entirely one-dimensional characters who do weird shit for no reason, like D.J the gardener who seemed more like a porn character than a real person and Eric Mabius this year.

But the show still rules. Can't wait 'til next week...Marissa goes all ghetto, it seemed.

I loved tonight's episode. It was suppose to be an homage to the "Donna Martin Graduates" episode of Beverly Hills 90210, but IMO, this was much better. It was very well written, not too soapish like this can, admittedly, sometimes be.

I have not watched this series since the start of the second season which was decent in my opinion. How is it now? I am in love with the first season, shock after shock.

01-14-2006, 01:26 AM
I can only speak for myself. I have no idea what the general opinion is of this season, but in my opinion, I think this has been, for the most part, a very strong season.

Having seen every episode of the show and enjoying it greatly, though admitting that it isn't a particuarlly high quality show, I have to admit that I'm enjoying this season quite a bit more than last season. This is not to say that season 2 was bad at all, it just didn't compare to the amazing first season. This season has introduced some great new characters (Johnny, Taylor, Dean Hess, Chili, Charlotte, Matt, etc.), and the fact that they're bringing back Marissa's younger sister next week is great. The plotlines this season have been exciting and funny, and I like how the whole aftermath of the shooting has kind of loomed over all the proceedings. If the show had started out with them going right back to Harbor and everything being all dandy it would've been even more unrealistic than it already is. I still love Seth and Summer the best, as they make one of TVs most lovable and adorable couples. Intelectually and artistically speaking it doesn't compare to some of my other favorite shows, however I stand strong by it week after week because the characters and their crazy antics, and the show's great soundtrack are just worth watching, and, unfortunately addicting.

This season has been crappy and the plots weird or stupid resolutions. I started watching this season during the Winter Break, and I started by episode 3. I only saw a few episodes and way too much shit happened too quickly and without any point. Ryan gets expelled? How long did that last, 3 weeks? pfft. Eric Mabius was totally random. Taylor is totally random. Volchok? AHAHAHAH. The show's kinda losing it. And Summer's wearing clothes that don't make her look that hot. C'MON!

01-19-2006, 08:33 AM
I have enjoyed S3 more so then S2. S1 is still my favorite though. It looks like tonight things will really get interesting when Marisa's sis comes home. I think the problem the OC has is when they bring in newbies, they just rush the story way too much.

Some thoughts...

Seth smoking a joint OWNZ.

Marissas 14 year old sister is HOTT.

Does anybody think there is going to be a season 4?

01-31-2006, 07:54 PM
The actress that plays her sister is really 14 too. A little creepy. This season is really good.

Possible spoiler

I have heard there will be a death coming up soon, if it is true, I think we know who it will be.

So last night's episode was really good. It finely is incorporating the parents back into the storylines with some good stuff. I like the way they are going with Sandy. He was acting just like the rich snobs, but for a good cause. Ryan and Marissa are the worst couple on the show and I am happy they are over. Sadie is someone that I think gets what she wants. When she started beating that truck, damn awesome. Hopefully this sparks interest into Ryan because he has been so boring. Seth and Summer were good as always. I am curious most of how the ratings will turn out. With an American Idol lead, this should do pretty well.

03-10-2006, 03:46 PM
The show got a poor 4.9. AI had a 15.3, so it couldn't keep even half the AI audience. Not good. Although this is higher than it has been in the past.

03-10-2006, 07:53 PM
Last nights show was good. Wish they would use Taylor more, because I just love her. I hope this new s/l for Ryan will breath new life into him, cause he has been so boring!

What is the highest ratings the oc has normally gotten?

03-10-2006, 08:22 PM
The ratings were around mid 3's, so it was a jump for the show, but when it first debuted it was getting 6's I believe. With the AI lead in though, it should of got a better rating. Guess the other shows, CSI, had taken most of the AI fans away. I don't like CSI, I find it to be boring, but there are a lot of fans of the show.

03-11-2006, 12:51 AM
At this rate, this show will be extremely lucky to make it to season 4. I have this terrible feeling that this will be the last season. :(

I missed Thursdays but I taped it so I'll probably watch it tomorrow.

03-11-2006, 07:26 AM
Actually, it has performed pretty well compared to other Fox's shows in that timeslot. I just wish they would move it back to 8. It did better, but Fox seems to find ways to ruin the good shows, and create more bad oens to take their place.

03-16-2006, 09:03 PM
Another good episode. I like all of the couples now. Marissa and Ryan are bad together and there is no chemistry there. Ryan and Sadie are good together and she is hot. Nice casting there. Marissa and the tough guy seem like a better match. I was waiting for Summer's dad to have a girl on the side, but I was wrong. It was nice to see Ryan's mom again, but you can tell her part on the show is over. Next week looks good. A hot blonde tries to get between Ryan and Sadie already. Lots happening.

03-17-2006, 06:03 PM
This episode, much like most episodes this season, was good but not great. And that's basically what I've thought of this season. I still enjoy this show but it's not as great as it was before. And I still love this cast. Yes, even Mischa Barton. And I disagree that there is no chemistry between Ryan and Marissa. I think they are great together. But I do like Sadie as well. But I can't believe Marissa is actually going to hook up with that other guy. Ugh!

03-24-2006, 05:57 AM
Another good episode. The ending was different, but done well. I like all of these new storylines. They all work so well. Well is a common word for this episode for me. I just hope we get some Sandy and Kristen scenes again. Kirsten was kind of pointless in this episode. Ryan didn't listen to her till the end, but that was more of his judgement then anything else.

03-24-2006, 07:43 PM
I don't know how Ryan was able to resist Jess because she is so damn HOT! I know wouldn't be able to resist her.

Although Nikki Reed (Saddie) is pretty hot too.

And speaking of hot, that last scene with Marissa, though a bit short, was EXTREMELY HOT!

And lastly concerning hotness, man, when did Taylor become so hot! LOVE her too!

The stuff between Summer and Seth was great.

Overall, good episode.

03-24-2006, 09:31 PM
I couldn't agree more with you ilovemovies. Sadie is gorgeous, but I would have took a chance with Jess. I don't find Misha Barton attractive, but she didn't look bad Thursday. Summer as always is hot. If I was Seth I would have dumped her for Taylor. Autumn Reeser is too damn hot.

03-27-2006, 09:22 PM
Last Thursday's episode was generall just a hot episode. A sexy episode. Almost everyone got lucky.

Trouble's a brewin' though. It's coming.

I'd like to see a Season 4. But, the only way I can see it happening is if something MAJOR happens that forces everyone to stay for one more season. You never know.

These next seven episodes better be juicy.

03-27-2006, 10:34 PM
Possible spoiler below.

I was reading some upcoming storylines and it seems that Ryan and Sadie are not going to last long because he will have a new love interest. Anyone know anything about this?

03-31-2006, 06:05 PM
So another good episode. Still nowhere near the magic of season 1, but it has improved a lot. I thought Sadia was actually gone, but I was wrong. Nikki Reed needs to stay on this show, get rid of Mischa Barton and keep her.

03-31-2006, 06:11 PM
I like Mischa Barton. They cannot get rid of her!

I loved the chemistry between Marissa and Ryan however I don't think they should get back together. Atleast not for a while. I wouldn't want the show to keep repeating itself. Then it will become stale and predictable.

03-31-2006, 06:43 PM
I think Mishca is one of the worst looking females ever. Plus her voice is sound more masculine each episode, gotta cut back on those smokes.

I think we need Luke back. He was such a fun character.

03-31-2006, 07:20 PM
THE OC isnt cool anymore.

03-31-2006, 07:57 PM
I wouldn't say it isn't cool. It isn't as huge when it first came out, but on my college campus it still is a big show. American Idol is bigger, but that is quite obvious from the ratings.

04-14-2006, 07:25 PM
While I understand why he is lying to Summer, Seth is a complete idiot nonetheless!

Saddie is gone! :(

Who was that girl that Ryan hooked up with when visiting his mom? She was hot! They always get hot people on this show!

I wasn't liking what they were doing to Marrissa but it maybe it looks like she's come to her senses.

And next week is going to be great with both Anna and Theresa both back! :)

04-14-2006, 08:40 PM
That blonde was hot, but I kept thinking that Sadie was hotter. Ryan is one of the luckiest characters ever.

The Summer/Seth was a couple that you would never think would breakup, but it is better this way. I like how they are going about it.

Next week looks sweet.

04-28-2006, 10:33 AM
I missed the 4/21 episodes because my DVD Recorder decided it wanted to change channels on me, so it taped channel 600 and something intead of 6. *cries* So I am a little confused at the moment.

Anyways last nights show was good and the final 2 look even better!

04-28-2006, 11:34 AM
I know the show was never some serious work or anything but I thought it was totally lame thats its only in its third season andits so strapped for ideas that they have reduced themselves to having cast off American Idol contestants do 2 second walk on roles and recycling past plot lines, I mean how many times do you need to see Marissa get screwed over by a some jerk and Ryan goes and punches his lights out? and to make things even more lame their bringing back old cast member all at the same time? Pretty soon Johnny will be back from the dead, just watch!! I used to love the O.C but its become just a little TOO daytime soap opera just with better music.

05-18-2006, 11:47 PM
NOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

I hope Ryan kills that motherfucker Volcheck next season! I hope he dies a LONG and PAINFUL death!

Great finale though.

RIP Marissa! :(

05-19-2006, 06:10 AM
It was ballsy of them to kill Marissa.

Next season is going to be even worse than 2 and 3. Yes, I hate Marissa, but you know that at least the first half of next year will be about mourning Marissa, which will be boring and melodramatic as shit.

They should have just let her go off with her father so she could still be off the show, and then focus on the other characters and bring back the fun and the quirk that made season 1 not only watchable but rather enjoyable, save for, of course, Oliver.

05-19-2006, 08:45 AM

That was too funny, a perfect way to end to end one of the worst seasons ever, man how the mighty have fallen...

05-19-2006, 10:00 AM
I cant beleive they killed off Marissa, doesnt that seem like majorly jumping the shark? I dont understand how all of this can come together next season,, they could could have just ended the series like that.

05-19-2006, 10:41 AM
Well Mischa Barton has been causing problems on and off the set, so they wanted to get rid of her. Plus they want to make things fresh. Where can you take her character? It was a good finale, the end was a little dull though. I am excited about next season. Josh Swartz is coming back to write for the show again. He wrote the finale last night.

05-30-2006, 04:53 PM
Am I the only one that thinks she's a really bad actress? She's so wooden and the others are much better than her. I wonder if she thinks she needs to leave so she can get parts in movies.

05-31-2006, 11:24 AM
Faz your not the only one who thinks she is a bad actress.

John said since the new season doesn't start until Nov. they are taking the opportunity to jump forward. Everyone has gone on with life I guess, so no mourning of Marissa really. Just how they all moved on or I guess in Ryans case out for revenge.
