Im glad they are releasing these 2 editions on the same day instead of double dipping... but now im just kinding of getting sick of having to shell out the extra cash for the 2 disk editions, whch usually on release date are about $10 more expensive. Just release a 2 disk set from the get go, and let us aficionados save our $!

The movie wa decent... nothing special though

Its gonna be an expensive day with this and Seinfeld and im sure some other stuff is coming out on the 22nd also!

Didn't find anything spectacular about this movie except maybe for the scene in the "basement".

will definitally get this one way or another. I agree, the single disc artwork is hideous.

On a side note, Skynet you are the bomb... seriously what would we do without you and all your friendly updates. Thank you.

The two-disc edition will include that, along with an introduction by Spielberg, a four-part production diary documentary, four behind-the-scenes featurettes (The HG Wells Legacy, Characters: The Family Unit of War of the Worlds, Pre-Visualization and Scoring War of the Worlds), some closing words by Steven Spielberg, design and production photo galleries, and the film's theatrical trailer. The artwork alone on the single disk is shitty enough to make me buy the double-disc set. I just don't like Cruise clutching his young co-star so close, it creeps me out...

The extras on the two-disc sound a lot better. But, all in all, the film alone is the main selling point for me.

lol that artwork on the single disc looks like Tom is a little confused of his sexuality lol.... well maybe not he's holding a lil girl... but anyways I will buy the 2 disc edition without question...

Maybe Tom was about to confess his love to Dakota and jump all over Oprah's couch again until he looked over and saw "Katie" (or another guy) checking up on him. :D

It's the two disc edition for me. I don't think the single edition will be available in the UK anyway, the general feeling is that nobody will buy crappier version of a movie for a few pounds less so they only stock the one. I don't know what the difference is elsewhere but here it's only about £3 to £5 difference between the 1 disc and 2 disc versions. Ennoyingly it's always the 1 disc versions in sales. Anyway, I can't wait, the opening hour of this movie was one of the best I've seen in a long time that actually scared me.

Bravo Dreamworks for giving War of the Worlds a beautiful Digipak case instead of those pointless slip covers on top of plain old amaray cases. Bravo. It looks wonderful.

The two disc set has been reported short packed.

Was at Wal-Mart and Best Buy, neither of them had it.

Though the single disc version at Wal-Mart has an exclusive bonus DVD on the making.

I ended up getting the King Kong remake and AVP.
