List as many as you want. Here's mine:

Favorite performance: The Royal Tennenbaums
Favorite movie with her in it: Se7en

Haven't seen Shakespeare in Love yet, though...

Shakespeare in Love was surprisingly good, also Gwyneth was good in it, and probably my judgment is clouded a bit, since I have to admit that I like Ben Affleck. Anyway Seven was indeed a good film, and I found myself strangely attracted to Great Expectations.

Also, the twists in Talented Mr. Ripley and Perfect Murder were nice, even if Gwyneth was only in a supporting role in those.

And a very funny performance that she gave was in the also otherwise amusing and cheerful Sliding Doors.

Now, I notice that I've mentioned quite a lot of films, and yet I don't consider myself a big fan or a fan at all of Paltrow.

The Royal Tennenbaums,

Actually every one in that movie had their best performance in it.

Se7en.

What John Doe would be studied and reviewed for the rest of history. He envied Mills normal life. He envied his wife. So he took her pretty head.

Gwyneth Paltrow's best performance was definitely in Flesh & Bone, her first major movie role, as James Caan's young lover Ginnie.

*shrug* Well I really don't like her at all, so I'll say the only performance of hers I've ever liked: Seven.

Oh, and colin don't despair for not seeing Shakespeare in Love, you're not missing a thing. It's a large piece of crap which should never have been nominated for best picture, let alone won over the best movie of the year, Saving Private Ryan. It's pretty ridiculous, be thankful you haven't seen it.

Yea, don't even bother Colin, that movie and the performance wasn't that good. She did not deserve the Oscar for that performance.</font>

What are you talking about? Both the movie and her performance were excellent. Did she deserve the oscar? I'd say yes, but I don't remember, who else were nominated, or was she my first pick then, but her acting was definitely very good, and the chemistry with Joseph Fiennes worked really well. All in all, it indeed *was* a good film, and I do recommend it to you.

arto_j, you should see Hilary and Jackie. Emily Watson was nominated for Best Actress for her brilliant performance as cellist, Jacqueline Dupre who suffered from MS (multiple sclerosis). See that movie and then talk to me. But, it was an independent film and they don't fair well at the Oscars. They tend to just be nominated.

Well, I decided to rent Shakespeare in Love. It wasn't a matter of me choosing some of your endorsements over others, I just always give a movie a chance. I had some problems with the movie before I even saw it (the biggest of all is that it won the Oscar over Saving Private Ryan, plus the somewhat annoying fact that Shakespeare was a homosexual...), so I was worried that it was sway my opinion negatively.

Well, I actually thought the movie was great. I still wouldn't have given it the Best Picture award over Saving Private Ryan, but I certainly would have given it the nomination, and I most definitely would have given Gweneth Paltrow her award. She was, as always, outstanding in that movie. I thought Joseph Fiennes was great too, and that the two did have really good chemistry. Geoffrey Rush and Colin Firth were outstanding in their supporting roles, and although I think Judi Dench's performance is a little overrated, she did very well too. And the movie had me laughing out loud at times, and what more can you ask for in a comedy?

So, there you have it. Sorry Jasonite and Other, but I really enjoyed it.

Paltrow's ONLY good performance IMO has been for The Royal Tenenbaums. She is a very overrated actress in my opinion.

I really like her, and loved her in Shakespeare in Love. I thought Saving Private Ryan was boring after about 45 minutes, yet Shakespeare in love remained a great movie...just got the DVD today.

She was funny in Royal Tennnenbaums, and generally is good in all films.

I liked her in FLESH AND BONE and SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE. I'm tired of her accent but other than that, I liked SLIDING DOORS.

She hasnt really been BAD in anything though.

The only Gwyneth Palthrow performance I've liked was in The Pallbearer, which is IMO a fine, underrated dark comedy.

I just had to post this to take back what I said where I told Colin to skip SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE...why did I say that? I don't remember EVER saying that. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/confused.gif I guess I was out of it.

My real view on the film is that I think SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE is a great film. I'd rate it about an 8/10 or 9/10.

I still stand on saying that Gwyneth Paltrow's performance (though good), certainly wasn't the best of the year and certainly didn't deserve to win against Emily Watson's powerhouse performance in HILARY AND JACKIE...

Gwyneth is a generally good actress, but I feel one of her better and more overlooked performances was as the two minutes she was on screen in MALICE.

I really think she's overrated. She's OK at acting but not that great, she doesn't have a very nice body and she isn't very pretty either. I didn't like her in Shakespeare in Love (she shouldn't have gotten the academy award). I was actually impressed with her in The Royal Tenenbaums and Shallow Hal.

She was in a stinker called "Duets" though her singing abilities were pretty good though. Too bad she hasnt decided to further her career in recording music...

I have not seen Se7en or Perfect Murder, but she was also quite good in Sliding Doors. I have a particular hatred for Bounce, so we won't even get into it. ;)

The only movie I've ever liked her in was Se7en....otherwise I think this woman is frickin' pathetic.
