The two main suggestions I have are as follows:

1. I wouldn't include even close to as much Lynyrd Skynyrd or Aerosmith, although that's mainly due to my personal taste so if you dig that stuff go ahead with it. Besides, good, traditional rock music was getting hard to find in the late seventies.

2. Do you listen to any progressive or punk rock (70's punk rock, I mean)? It's noticeably absent from your tapes. If you don't like that stuff, then nevermind, if you haven't listened, CHECK IT OUT. :D

I think PuckBond and myself take different approaches to making a mix-tape, but that's okay. It looks a little too...Classic Rock Radio Station-y to me, but to each his own.

bluesbrother, bluesbrother I thought you got it man? I thought you understood what I was trying to do...I oughtta beat you over the head with a mic stand! LOL...j/k You can never have too much Aerosmith or Lynyrd Skynyrd...whom happen to be 2 of my favorite bands and unfornutely for you I have more Aerosmith to come on one of my 80's tapes and one of my 90's tapes! But my main point is why would I put punk music on a tape full of southern rock music...remember I am making tapes with themes and spirit...and I am just getting started on the 70's I still have 3 or 4 more tapes that will feature more 70's music on them...As for punk I have one that totally rocks and will feature punk! Forgive my ignorance but what exactly is "progressive" rock, I never really understood that term...perhaps you can give me some examples(bands) of progressive rock...I have an idea but not totally sure.

Oh, I see. I thought these were your ONLY tapes for the seventies. While I realized you were trying to keep a theme going, you can't say that you're covering all of 70's popular music when there is no punk or prog covered. However, now that I realize you've got more tapes coming that are still based on the 70's (and which will feature punk, and prog, if you listen and dig it). So, in that case, yeah, fill up a tape side with all the southern rock you want. But I, for one, can EASILY have enough Aerosmith and Lynyrd Skynyrd, meaning after two or three songs by each. See one_crow_sorrow's post for prog suggestions.

Ok bb I may have mislead you a bit by only putting those 2 tapes as my 70's mixes, but I was hoping to draw this out with multiple threads with only 2 tapes per thread...hehe. Anyway I'm gonna type up the next thread and you can rip me some more!! As for progressive rock I've only heard of half of those bands that ocs mentioned...and I'm not really a fan of the ones I do know...(plus I don't have the cds right now). I've actually spent over $500 over the past couple of months buying all these Cds and my funds are pretty short as it is. Back in the late 90's I used to own over 500 Cds but when I moved I got rid of a lot of them(stupid me)...and now some of the music I need to make these tapes I have to still get!
