over at bloody-disgusting they had some info about the sequel and they said that this release of Cannibal Holocaust would give the viewer the option of watching the full complete version or a version minus the animal violence

Hmmm..Well, the animal violence is the one big thing keeping me from ever wanting to watch this..I can't stand seeing animals get hurt in movies (let alone the fact that the killing in this is real). But then again I just plain here that it isn't a good movie. Arrow's review really helped to put down some of the crazy hype around it.

isn't that just a rumor? i heard originally that is was passed off as a true doctumentary...like what they did more recently with Blair Witch...but turned out to be all fake.

The animal killings are real, the human ones are not. I think the movie was taken to court and they had to prove that the people were not actually killed. And the animal killings were allowed to be shown because it was done by tribe people of that area and such.

Actually some (if not most) of the animals killed were done by the actors.

Even though i`m no big horror fan, but ialot of horror movies appeal to me ( John carpenter movies, sleepy hollow, the descent ) but this piece of shit is so fucking disgusting that i couldnt watch it till the end.
I`m not against voilence like the parts in Scorsese`s movies, thats called cinematic voilence, not like the disgusting part in which he tortured that turtle, that is one of the sickest things i`ve ever seen.

Really...Well, isn't that illegal? Maybe it was "sanctioned" by the tribe or something.
I know they kill a turtle in this (I've had the unfortunate pleasure of reading the description of it) But what other animals do they maim or kill in it? Better not be any doggies or kitty cats!

I know the animal slaughter in the film is not easy to stomach, but at least most, if not all, of the beasts killed were eaten.
One can certainly argue about whether or not the killing should be filmed for entertainment purposes, but unless you don't indulge in Chicken McNuggets, Whoppers, Sausage pizzas, or any other meat products you can't really complain about the animals being killed for food.
Of course this was a very shitty movie... but at least they did eat the animals.

Be forewarned, this description is pretty graphic:

Animals killed FOR REAL in Cannibal Holocaust onscreen and the methods used to dispatch them.
Boa:Quickly skewered with a machete.
Pig:Shot in the stomach at point blank (followed by a closeup). Screams in agony afterwards.
Monkey:Face chopped off with a machete (followed by a closeup), then the entire head itself.
Muskrat:Knife inserted in it's head throught the neck twice. Screamed in agony while the actor was doing so.
Large Turtle: Decapitated with a knife shile it's limbs are still kicking Followed by the removale of the arms, then chopping off the soft underbelly to have the animals innards ooze out (there's a closeup of this). During the time the turtles legs are still wiggling not to mention it's mouth is till snapping despite being severed from the body (one of the actors grabs the head and brings it up real close to the camera). This scene alone is about a minute long.
And yes, they faced a fine for it.
As for what Dark_One said:
1. Come on! How many normal people eat a tortoise or muskrat in everyday life?
2. Althought I wouldn't be surprised if they mistreat animals at a slaughter house, they really didn't give the animals a quick and painless death in the movies.

I've been interested in watching this for a couple years but I've been really put off because of the animal killings. Well, I went to download it a couple nights ago and it was just a music video (the one that is on the DVD). I'll probably Netflix it (they have it uncut) sometime. I've heard it's a really terrible movie though. I loved THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. It's one of the one movies that actually still scared me. I doubt I'll like this very much but I'll still see it.

Overrated, ugly and cheaply made piece of tripe. I still plan on buying the DVD, not because of the movie itself which is actually pretty shitty but because I find the controversial background and history around it to be intriguing.
While true the animal killings are disgusting, the acting is horrible and the scenes with human deaths are laughable. Not to mention the WORST, most out of place soundtrack of any horror film I've ever seen. This movie is just shock value for the sake of shock value.
Any details on where I would be able to pick this piece up (without ordering it off the internet with a credit card) would be appreciated.
