Its amazing how he didnt mention his old man for promising after Kuwait that the U.S would help them rise up against Saddam and how Bush Sr. failed them. (Briefly touched on in the movie "Three Kings")
Also funny how this President fails to accuse himself for ignoring vital data in the months and weeks leading up to 9/11... fucking amazing...
Whats that old saying? "When you point your finger at others, you have 3 of your own pointing BACK AT YOU...

The link didn't work- what did it say? He usually does not cat blame on anyone so this would be suprising if it was true.

From the link -
"To leave Iraq now would be to repeat the costly mistakes of the past that led to the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001," Bush said at the Pentagon after a briefing by Defense officials.
Without mentioning his predecessors by name, he cited as examples the U.S. response to the hostage crisis in Iran during the Carter administration, the Lebanon bombing during Reagan's term and four events on Bill Clinton's watch: the first World Trade Center attack, the killing of American soldiers in Somalia, the bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa and the attack on the battleship Cole. In each case, the president chose not to retaliate with large-scale military offensives.

There was no blaming in that article. He merely said that former Presidents had faced terrorist acts but didn't perform, militarily, the way they “should have”… well, that’s what the article depicts it at least. Bush says he doesn’t want to make the mistakes of the past by not taking action when necessary.
President Bush said Thursday that mistakes made by three of his predecessors, including the Reagan administration's restraint after the 1983 bombing of the Marine barracks in Lebanon, had emboldened terrorists and helped set the stage for the Sept. 11 attacks.

That would be called blame.
When you mention presidents and say what they should have done when faced with handling terror, thats called blame. He doesnt have to say the word to mean it. What he did was an inference.. and as I said, left out his "daddy" and himself. Notice how he didnt say HE "should have" paid attention to the intel leading up to 911? On THAT matter, I would agree.. he certainly didnt put any blame there. ;)

I don't get it.
Is there anyone on this board who doesn't think the occurences Bush mentioned encouraged terrorism. Ofcourse Bush takes some responsibility for 9/11 it happened on his watch, that goes without saying.
And for those of you who wonder why he didn't berate his father, well you must hate your dads.

Nope..dont hate my dad at all.
But if I know my dad shared in blame along with other Presidents, I simply aint gonna make statements about others when my dad is to blame as well. Thats called intelligence and not being a hypocrite...Bush lacks brains, but he is long on hypocrisy and arrogance. By him speaking of the others and omitting his old man and himself once again proves what many already know about his charactor

He wasnt tearing anyone personally , just saying that non-action did not work. If militarty action does not work then what? Sit down and wait? That is not for me. Let's gather as much intel as we can and prepare ourselves as much as we can.
I think it is wonderful that we got the number 2 Al Qaeda guy in Iraq yesterday. It may not stop terrorism but I'm glad that one of those murderers has lost his life becasue of us and the Iraqi military.

Well maybe Bush didn't feel like criticizing his father. It's alot easier to say you chastize your father in front of the whole country than to do it. He did mention republicans in his talk though. And what does Bush sr. not backing Iraqi rebels have to do with terrorism anyway?

I already explained how Bush jr had no business pointing fingers if he wasnt prepared to hold his old man and himself accountable as well... I can explain it any clearer.
Bush Sr made empty promises that if the rebels rose up against Saddam the U.S would be there to back them.. they rose up and we didnt back them.. as a result Saddam murdered thousands of them.. and you ask how THAT breeds terrorism?
Unjust foreign polices
Illegal occupations
The CIA secretly backing coups
Making empty promises
All these lead to the creation of terrorists... contrary to what the Govt would have us beleive.. ie.. that terrorists hate our way of life..ie.. they're so jealous of our big screen Tvs, our dvds and our taco bells.. indoor air conditioning... that they are willing to strap bombs onto themselves... nope.... thats propaganda.

So there were terrorists in Iraq before the war? Then what is unjust about The Iraq war today? You go on to say Bush sr. was "not there and did not back them" then you list "The CIA secretly backing coups. Which one is it?
The truth is when we decided to help our Saudi Arabian allies defeat Sadaam because his invansion of Kuwait threatened their boarders and their sovereignty and us "infidels" decided to set up shop on Muslim holy land, the muslims got pissed. Pissed at America. And they put a Jihad on us.

What do you mean..which one is it? I was giving examples of what leads to terrorism.... I feel I am getting into a circular argument with you and you arent understanding the way I am writing..I cant and aint interested in repeating myself in yet another way to mean the same thing I already said... so I aint going to continue with this line of debate. What you are asking requires more than a forum and pages of typing...and I have no interest in going back to square one of how this administration has gotten us to where we are today.
