Take that lynn! (http://www.nationalenquirer.com/celebrity/63426)

Althought this appears to be a tabloid of sorts, I've heard this story from several other sources. All I can do now is repeat this brilliant line from Bill Mayer while I pray in a conrner hoping this news is followed by report of dubya's suicide, admintance to detox, death by alcohol poisoning, etc;

Mr. President, this job can't be fun for you any more. There's no more money to spend--you used up all of that. You can't start another war because you used up the army. And now, darn the luck, the rest of your term has become the Bush family nightmare: helping poor people. Listen to your Mom. The cupboard's bare, the credit cards maxed out. No one's speaking to you. Mission accomplished.

Now it's time to do what you've always done best: lose interest and
walk away.. Like you did with your military service and the oil
company and the baseball team. It's time. Time to move on and try the
next fantasy job. How about cowboy or space man? Now I know what
you're saying: there's so many other things that you as President
could involve yourself in. Please don't. I know, I know.
There's a lot left to do. There's a war with Venezuela. Eliminating
the sales tax on yachts. Turning the space program over to the church.
And Social Security to Fannie Mae. Giving embryos the vote.

But, Sir, none of that is going to happen now. Why? Because you
govern like Billy Joel drives. You've performed so poorly I'm
surprised that you haven't given yourself a medal. You're a
catastrophe that walks like a man. Herbert Hoover was a shitty
president, but even he never conceded an entire city to rising water
and snakes.

On your watch, we've lost almost all of our allies, the surplus, four
airliners, two trade centers, a piece of the Pentagon and the City of
New Orleans. Maybe you're just not lucky. I'm not saying you don't
love this country. I'm just wondering how much worse it could be if
you were on the other side.

So, yes, God does speak to you. What he is saying is: 'Take a hint.'

It would be really cool if Politics forums weren't "post 60 things about george bush a day"

Yeah, I don't know how the head of the most powerful country on earth keeps slipping into the news.

And can I help it if I have a secret fantasy to one day drink his salty tears as they run down his face. Choke on another pretzel, FUCKER!

It's the National Enquirer.

There's a section of the website entitled "Anna Nichole" for fuck's sake.

Are there any links to real news sources?

Enquiring minds want to know. A quick google search reveals some other juicy news sources, such as The Spoof.com, blogcritics.org, Spoofnews.com, and Conspiracy Planet.

Not saying it's not substantiated. I just tend to be a bit skeptical when the main news source is the National Enquirer who in 1987 broke the story on Michael Jackson sleeping with the elephant man's bones.

Well, actually that one doesn't sound far-fetched.

Hence my saying "Althought this appears to be a tabloid" disclaimer at the top.

It's just that I'd heard it in other places, althought right now it would be best to regard this as a rumour until somthing with a little more credibility comes along.

MCREDYR7f7dRJRIE (hope i spelt your name right!)

what's with the whole 'take that lynn' thing? i'm not sure if you're teasing or not, but you don't need to be so childish about things :p

Personally, I would like a drunk crazyTtexan rather than a calm Christian Texan because that would be more fun.

Come on...you know you would all like it

Yeah, I was teasing.

However I don't think he should drink since he promoted himself as 'born again-on the wagon' type when he wanted to get elected.

As soon as I saw the title of the thread I was laughing. I did take it as a tease and enjoyed it a lot!

Anyway, the Enquirer has gotten some stories right in the past so although it is a tabloid, it can be right;however, I don't beleive it. I know it is possible for someone to fall off the wagon and I hope it never happens to him but this poor guy is attacked in the most vicious ways and good things that happen with him just are not reported, so I am with him until I see him falling down drunk with my own eyes.

Oh give him some credit. I'm sure he can hold his booze better than that.

Besides it's usually the ones who don't get falling down drunk that have the problems.

"Now here's some sad information coming out of Washington. According to reports, President Bush may be drinking again. And I thought, `Well, why not? He's got everybody else drinking.'"

a few years ago word got out that DAvid Letterman was a closet Republican and ever since then he has bashed Bush relentlessly. That joke and most of his others are tired and boring. He was so energetic and fun before he moved to CBS and now he just seems bored out of his mind.

Lynn, can you not even handle some late night talk show host taking a mild pot shot at Bush? I mean honestly, just lighten up sometimes.

Lynn,

Daves joke was funny... but I do agree with you that he aint the same Dave.... since he had his heart attack he is much more subdued and very seldom does the old Dave shine thru.

Plus his close cropped haircut makes him look way too old. ;)

I’ve always thought that Letterman was a prick. He’s like the little chihuahua that wont stop barking from your next door neighbors yard.

“You got any gum?… HA HA!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH!”

Didnt Lettermans disdain for Bush start after he went on his show during the 2000 campaign? He apparently treated the interns poorly or something like that.

The Postmaster General

What happened with Bush on Letterman:

Bush: ""I'm a uniter not a divider. That means when it comes time to sew up your chest cavity, we use stitches as opposed to opening it up." Bush, on David Letterman (who had just had open heart surgery), March 2, 2000. (the audience booed)

And what the hell are you all talking about? Because Letterman makes jokes, he has it in for Bush. ALL late night hosts make fun of ALL presidents. I'm pretty sure it's in their contracts.

Its called comedy.

You might have heard of it...although theres precious evidence of that so far ;)

I can laugh at the Bush jokes if they are even handed. If I feel a comedian has an agenda that is when I resent it. Make one of Bush and one of Kerry and I am fine. Some of the funniest comedy I have ever seen was when they were counting the votes in Florida between Bush and Gore and SAturday night had a field day with both people- it was all so funny I died laughing.

Letterman's jokes are so tired. And Tai Mai Jew is so right- he takes a single phrase and says it the whole night over and over and over. This from a guy who revolutionized comedy. He used to take us behind the scenes of the television set before anyone else did (Leno has copied him to death).and those skits where he used to send Rupert out to do practical jokes were so damn funny. Also, when he would go out and mix it up with the regular people was just great. Now he just sits there and is awful. And yes he picks on Bush but it doens't come off as funny, just mean.

Yeah, he could even throw in a few Woodrow Wilson jokes just to keep it balanced.

If you're looking for "Fair & Balanced" comedy, might I suggest FOX NEWS? Start with the team of Hannity & Colmes ... Martin & Lewis aint got nuthin on them.. If you're just into "stand -up" acts, I hear O'Reilly can keep em laughing for 30 minutes :D

I've seen Dave & Leno do jokes about Kerry and Dean many times btw...

Yeah, when they are topical. That's what I was getting at with my Wilson remark. I have a feeling she only likes comedians who say, "What's the deal with microwave ovens? I mean, do we really need to eat that fast?"

Lynn7

I like a lot of comedians and I even pay to go see them. I appreciate good comedy but not lazy comedy. Letterman's jokes about Bush are lazy- they simply repeat what Bush's critics say. He is aiming for the easy laugh from Bush haters. I enjoy good jokes about Bush but I don't hear them from Lettterman.

The joke in question-
"Now here's some sad information coming out of Washington. According to reports, President Bush may be drinking again. And I thought, `Well, why not? He's got everybody else drinking.'"
--David Letterman

What is funny about that? Any of my firends could have made that statment in a phone call as an offhand remark. I expect more from a professional comedian.

I take it you don't mind when people lie to you or broke their word?

To be honest, I don't really give a shit if he drinks (well, at least not ina way where I don't report it here and mock him for it), but shouldn't he at least uphold the positive image he gave to his voters?

His being a born again christian is a personal choice. If he chooses to go back on that, by all means he should.

Here's what I don't get.

Many critics of George W. Bush (you included) hold him to some sort of standard and every time he does something wrong, it's a big deal. Yeah, it really fucking sucks I agree, but when are we gonna stop holding him to this standard? I mean...it's getting old.

Simple. Just because someone think somebody is a bad person, that dosen't mean they'll become apathetic to his wrongdoings. I shouldn't make this comparison, but just because we expect bad things from child molesters dosen't mean we care about them doing it less.

There's also the factor that's he done some many things to inspire hate during these last few years people are starting to become distrustful and agressive to his every move.
