Plot Summary: Based on the critically-acclaimed novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, "Everything is Illuminated" tells the story of a young man's quest to find the woman who saved his grandfather in a small Ukrainian town that was wiped off the map by the Nazi invasion. What starts out as a journey to piece together one family’s story under the most absurd circumstances turns into a surprisingly meaningful journey with a powerful series of revelations -- the importance of remembrance, the perilous nature of secrets, the legacy of the Holocaust, the meaning of friendship and, most importantly, love.

===========================

Saw this tonight and it was gorgeous. Wonderfully directed and Wood is perfect. Truly a beautiful film. I'd definately recommend it.

I want to see this, even though it's not getting great reviews.

If it ever plays nearby, as is usually the case.

Probably won't play anywhere near me, but I tend to like Elijah Wood, so I'd be open to seeing it at some point.

I really like Elijah Wood and the movie sounds interesting enough. I might read the book first though.

The book is fucking fantastic, but I don't really know if it'll translate too well to a movie. That said, I do want to check this out as you just can't make too bad a movie from that source material and Schreiber is a pretty smart guy.

Saw this yesterday. Have to say I was a wee disappointed. I've never read the book, but i can assume that the Elijah Wood character is a little more fleshed out in the book then the movie. I was not emotionally attached to any of the characters and thought the ending was simply to melodramtic and ran too long. Having said that I did like the performance of Eugene Hutz as the Ukraine with a hip-hop-obsessed, broken English-spewing guide named Alex and the look of the picture was very nice. 7/10
