"A Bird of the Hermes is my name. Eating my wings to make me tame."
There's also a trailer there, which had been mentioned before in that other Hellsing thread. So far it looks pretty good. I'm not looking forward to great plot or anything, as long as it's cool and action packed like the TV series, I'm in.

I'm a little confused. Are the dates and seasons in previous posts for Japanese television, DVD, or USA? If for Japan, is there a release date (even a tentative one) for the US?
And about the manga: how many volumes are in English? I know there's at least seven, but I read somewhere that there may be an eighth one and maybe a ninth. Any info on this?
Cool screens!

As for the manga, from what i remember its taking a while to finish and hasnt yet in japan but every volume avaialble is in english aswell.

Hello Hellsings fans! I love vampire flicks and I've heard about Hellsing but never actually watched any of the episodes. I'am however planning to buy the box set of the Hellsing series but now reading on here I see there is a new version coming out which is OVA. Can anyone tell me the difference, sorry for the ignorance people.

The TV series aired in TV and the OVA was straight-to-video (which, in the case of anime, is a good thing). The OVA is more heavily based on the manga and going with what i have seen, it's a bit more twisted-looking.
Check out the series. I hate vampire movies (with one or two exceptions), I dislike the creature itself but I'm a big fan of Hellsing.

The original series started off being close to the manga, but then took off in its own direction after the Jan incident. They also switched some parts of the storyline around. The best example I can remember is when we get to know Integra's background and how she became Alucard's master. In the manga, it's like the second or third chapter in the first volume. In the anime, it was the next to last episode (or second from the last, it's been a while). But it didn't really matter because by that time, the storyline had been enormously changed from the manga.
Just a thought: I wonder if the little humor stories at the end of each volume of the manga will be in the OVA? To me they were funnier than the ones in the anime just because they were so random and retarded. Reminds me of my friends.......

Seriously! I've been waiting for this for a long time, though not as long as some people, I'm sure! The distributors need to give us something! Last I heard, the OVA was set at a tentative fall 2006 release, but I'm sure that's been a long time ago.

In case you guys haven't heard, the OVA will be released on DVD in the US on December 5 of this year. The first episode has already been released in Japan on February 10, then the next coming out on August 25. Each episode will contain one volume of the manga, and incorporate elements from the prequel series Hellsing: The Dawn, and is said to be completed in three years' time. If you want a source, look on Wikipedia and IMDb. I'm too lazy to post the links.
I'm psyched for this! I've re-read all the manga I have and am now re-watching the anime. I hope the next volume of the manga will be released here soon. By the way, does anyone know if the 10-volume series rumor is true?

Really looking forward to the Hellsing Ultimate OVA coming out on December 5th. I've seen most of the episodes that origianlly aired in Japan, but the 2 disc special edition should be cool, as it comes with about an hour worth of bonus material, including the trailer you mentioned. Should be a cool buy.
I found the trailer online, and you can watch it here:

I haven't seen the whole thing, but I have seen clips of it, and it looks awesome! Very close to the manga (and the early episodes of the anime), and pretty nice visuals! And the original Japanese and English-speaking casts are reprising their roles! I'm so happy!
Oh, I think I'm getting the DVD for Christmas. I mentioned to my mom that I wanted it and it was at Best Buy, two days later she went ot Best Buy....she NEVER goes to Best Buy. Here's hoping I'm right! :D

That looks great, but is the 2nd episode even out yet in the states?
Ki'esha Foxx
02-10-2007, 07:49 PM
The second episode will be out on DVD in States either on March 31 or April 24. I saw either because on a few anime sites, they say you can pre-order the DVD for release on March 31, but on DVDAF.com it says that the release is April 24. DVDAF.com hasn't failed me yet, but more than one site saying the same date is making me wonder.
Anyway, other than that the third episode's release has been pushed back in Japan because the Anderson figurine wasn't ready. The original release was February 9, 2007. This may affect the US release as well, then again it might not.
Also, I've heard from two different sources that the eighth volume of manga will be from Dark Horse this spring, presumably somewhere around the time of the second episode's release. Good stuff from volume 7 onward. I just hope Hirano-san ends it well (of which I have no doubt).

It will take FOREVER to get a box set of the OVA. That's why I'm getting them as they come out, something I try to avoid unless I really REALLY want it now, or if there is no box set.
Oh, and the next manga volume comes out July 11 (I think that's right), according to DiscountAnimeDVD.com.

Aussie schmoes can be happy that we FINALLY get v3 of Hellsing on April 23. Yay for us! (if i'm not mistaken it's also the day before the evangelion 1.0 feature hits dvd in jap!).
Unfortunatly we probably wont see v4 for another 6-9 months the way releases are flowing down here :(
And only Geneon USA's branch closed down. Hellsing will probably get picked up by "navarre corp"(?) or more likely ADV (ADV were supposed to be the original distributers for Ultimate Hellsing on dvd in the states). As for Australia, I'd imagine nothing is different and Madman will keep the title.
I cant wait for OVA4...
