Over the course of one chaotic shift, Mitch gets to know the rest of Shenanigan's quirky staff: Monty's tough-talking ex-girlfriend, Serena, Shenanigan's over-zealous manager, Dan, and head cook Raddimus, who's obsessed with a senseless staff-wide competition known only as "The Game.

I don't care what anyone says, I think this movie looks really fun. I know a lot of people think it looks stupid (well duh, it does) and unfunny but I can't wait to check it out! I'll be there opening weekend.

Well I have some bad news. WAITING... is only being released in 1500+ theaters next weekend. Now my theater will still probably get it (they get most Lions Gate movies that are released in around the same screen count). For those of you in small towns and stuff though, I'm not sure if you'll be getting it :(

I can't imagine they'll be losing any sleep over it. Seriously, this looks like a fucking piece of shit. The writer(s) spent a weekend watching gross-out comedies and quickly copied bits of them all and threw something together. The trailer is painfully unfunny. I imagine it'll last one week in theaters and be on video by the end of the year, or shortly thereafter. Probably should have gone DTV in the first place.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of people that want to see it. I know a lot of people who have been talking about it. Just because you don't want to see it doesn't mean nobody else does or are you speaking for everyone in the US

I work part time at a resturaunte and the trailer totally cracked me up. I especially love when they are all singing their birthday song to the kid and the kid cries. I've always thought the song they sing is pretty stupid. What's wrong with the usual happy birthday song?

I'm definately there though.

my theater will get it loews jersey gardens has 20 screens and gets every movie opening weekend for at least 2 weeks they got a sound of thunder taht was 800 somethin theaters and they also got undiscovered they get everything at least for 2 weeks. So ill be checkin it out and im sure it will be more then 1500 theaters prob 1800-2100 sometimes many websites really underestimate the amount of theaters a movie is getting.

And this movie looks absolutely terrible. With Dane Cook & Andy Milonakis in the mix, i'm sure for me personally it'll stay terrible too.

** POSSIBLE SPOILERS**

Let me first start off by saying that I like to watch "Stupid" comedy's. I love movies such as "The 40 Yr. Old Virgin", and "Wedding Crashers". I saw the trailer for "Waiting" and I got excited. I was like "Ohh hell yea this must be the year of the "Stupid" comedy"! Boy was I wrong with this one. I had an interesting and funny cast (Ryan Reynold surprised me with his performance, but that was all that surprised me). It started off with Ryan Reynolds character training this goofy looking new employee at his first day on the job at "Shinanaganze" lol funny name for a resteraunt, but back to the story, they show this new employee on ways of dealing with customers of an average resteraunt and pretty much how to get even with the ones that just get under your skin. This movie had its handful of nasty cooks, bitchy waitresses & waitors, slutty waitresses, and underage, slutty hostesses. Sounds nice huh? But trust me, there is nothing nice about this movie. This movie, to me, didnt have an inch of ammusement. The best parts of the movie were in the trailer. Pretty much if you watched the trailer, you saw the movie. The film lacked the entertainment value of what I thought I would get. The film takes place on one business day at this resteraunt, and to me the funniest part was when the trainee FINALLY had enough and blew up on everyone at their house party after work. lol Maybe he released all the frustration I had with this picture on film. In closing, the movie could have been better if they didnt try to have it's soft spots, and if they try to have a plot without so many holes. I would honestly rather watch "Wallace and Grommit: Curse of the Were Rabbit" instead of this.

gracious 4/10

Caught this after seein In Her Shoes......

The cinematography equals to Kevin Smith's Clerks but in color....
It's no "Office Space" but there is some wacked out oh no they didn't humor in it.

I do urge that "Waiting" is a MATINEE folks!!!!
I hate to see you feel cheated when you fork over your $10+ admission price after you have left the theater.

Sooo did I like it or HATE IT? Well it was awright but could have been better me think.

Also the whole movie circles heavily at the resturaunt the WHOLE NITE!!!

Also, there is a TRIPPY Music Video at the ending credits sooooo don't bounce out the auditorium too quickly mmmmkay?

This movie looks pretty terrible to me, but...

I have a growing admiration for its director. The guy got a shot to make a movie and he's doing everything he can with it. Have you read his blog?

He just posted a video clip of Luis Guzman going off on him in front of the entire crew. It doesn't look staged to me. And if it's real, I just lost every ounce of respect I ever had for Guzman.

Check it out...

This is fact? You say it so matter-of-factly that I must immediately assume you know for sure. Also, judging how you talk about THE TRAILER ONLY, i'm also assuming you didnt even see the movie. You probably saw a tv spot for it or something and said "That doesnt look good to me, and since I'm always right and no one else can ever have an opinion without me shoving mine down their throats, I'm gonna get online and bash this sumbitch in hopes that no one else sees it."

Now, am I right? Or are my assumptions are all wrong and you DO in fact know for sure if the writer watched gross-out comedies all weekend and then wrote this movie and that you DID actually see this film instead of basing your view/opinion on the "painfully unfunny" (thats mind-boggling in itself to me. Something that is 'Painfully unfunny". I dont hurt when I laugh, and I sure as hell dont hurt when I dont laugh. Do you have something wrong with you where it hurts when you dont laugh? I'm concerned.) trailer you saw?

Help me out here, I really want to know.

As for me, I'm seeing this in T-Minus 90 minutes. Having worked as a head chef in a restuarant for 2 years now, this movie is right up my alley. And, from the trailer I saw back at 'Devil's Reects', I sensed an 'Office Space' vibe, and OS is one of my top 5 favorite movies ever, so I cannot wait to see this.

LMFAO! Wow! Is the steam still coming out of your ears? Have you stopped foaming at the mouth yet? Is the writer/director your dad or brother? Did you intentionally take what I said out of context, or did you just have a bad day and want to take it out on someone? Seriously, I want to know. If you are that upset with someone for saying unkind things about Waiting, well, I have a few suggestions that I'd be happy to share with you. Just PM me. I am all about helping others in need.

Madsen, I'm not getting into it with you. In every "current movie" thread I have ever voiced my opinion in, somehow, the topic always turns back to what YOU thought of the movie. I said what I wanted and that was that.

As for the movie; I really enjoyed it. The main thing I look for in a movie when it comes to liking it, is stuff I have in common with it, and this movie, well, I've pretty much experienced everything in it. I work in a restuarant, and have worked in others in the past, and whoever wrote this movie definitely did their homework because they got everything right. Even the characters. The new guy who is nervous about his first day, hey. who hasnt worked with someone like that? The jackass yet wants to be cool manager, I'm sure we've all had one of those (I sure know I have). The psycho bitch of a waitress who screams at everyone and feels she would be better off running the place, I work with one of those everyday....I could go on and on. They even got the restaurant situations correct, like towards the end where all the cooks are standing around staring at the clock with only 3 minutes left before they close, praying someone doesnt come in so they can get off at normal time and go home...I just did that an hour ago. And what happened in the movie happened to me, someone can in with about 5 minutes to go and totally fucked everything up.

It was funny, it was believable, it hit home with me....8/10. Loved it.

On another note, the movie experience was the worst of my life. The lights in the theater stayed on until about 5 minutes into the movie, making it so you could hardly see the screen. The scene where Luis Guzman was explaing 'The Game' to the new kid, the lights came back on, the sound cut out, and the cheesy elevator music they play before movies start came on. The picture on the screen kept moving up and down the whole time, at one point even being broadcast on the seats in the front of the theater. Towards the end of the movie the sound kept popping and seemingly going from 'Stereo' to 'Mono'...it was ridiculous. I've never had a problem at that theater, as it is the nicest theater around (I drive 40 minutes just to watch movies there because of how nice it is) and as everyone was leaving the theater, the manager was standing at the door and if anyone had something to say to him he was apologizing. I didnt say anything cause I figured "everyone else has, why repeat myself. At least he is apologizing for it."

That's good that you like it jackson, but do you think that maybe the movie will only work for people who have been employed in restaurants?

By the way, your theatre seems good especially since the manager apologized to everyone at the end. Most theatres I've been to don't do that.

In a way, yes I do. But, it also has stuff that anyone with any job could associate with (like the jackass boss, the guy who everyone for some reason looks up to....). When I first saw 'Office Space', I had never worked in an office. But I had worked with people like the people in the movie before (the annoying woman who is always cheery, the annoying boss like Lumbergh) and I really connected with it. About a year after seeing it, I actually did get a job at the office where my mom works, and the movie struck a chord with me even more then. Now it's one of my all time favorites. I have a feeling this movie could end up being like that for me as well. And for others, too, if given the proper chance.

As for the theater, yes it is a good theater. And that was one of the main reasons I didnt say anything to the manager. I know that its a good theater, and he knew that there had been a problem with the movie and was doing his job and admitting it and apologizing. Nothing I had to say would've been any different than what he had already heard.

This movie was horrible, not funny in the least bit. After Van Wilder i really thought ryan reynolds was the next big thing, but I was way off base. He is horrible and very unfunny, he reminds me of zach from saved by the bell.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

Me and my brother just got back from this new comedy about life in the restaurant scene... Ryan Reynolds is pure fuckin GOLD in this flick, almost reprising his wise-cracking "cool" role that he awesomely portrayed as Van Wilder in the flick of the same name....

Him and his friend Dean are waiters at a typical sit-down restaurant "Shenanigans" where they work with Reynolds' ex-girlfriend (Faris) and Dean's current girlfriend... Tons of hilarious rated R comedic moments take place, and I thought the only 2 down parts were the stoner bus boys (one of which is the fat bloated fuck Andy Milonakis, who is NOT an actor by ANY means) and that the trailer showed a bit too much....

Loved Luis Guzman's pervert character along with his girlfriend who looks VERY similar to Lindsay Lohan, as well as the entire rant/tirade that the new trainee gives at the end of the movie :D

If you're a fan of stupid teen/stoner and animal house-like comedy, then this flick's definately for you, I recommend at least 1 watch! ;)

I thought this was pretty funny. Not so much early on. It took a bit to get going, but once it did it was pretty fun. It's compairable to Kevin Smith movies like Clerks and Mallrats, as it doesn't have a plot really, just basically a "day in the life of" kinda story.

Ryan Renolds "let me explain how everything works while acting all smarmy" routine got a little tiresome, and seemed forced in some parts - but he also had some good zingers.

The cast, and characters, were well balanced for the most part. But the best line of the movie, and possibly the year, was Dane Cook's "Welcome to Thunderdome, bitch!" - That was freaking hilarious.

This is destined to be the next cult comedy, like Half Baked, Office Space, etc.

I thought this was very funny, occasionally hilarious. The cast is great. There really isn't a plot. It's just a day in the life of these resteraunte employees but it's really funny. Some of it I really identified working in a resteraunte, but don't worry. Ours isn't like the one in this. Especially the cooks. They are much more professional. Or are they? ;)

Still some of it I did identify with. I especially identified with the Justin Long character. The chemistry between the whole cast is really great too. Overall, very enjoyable movie. A small movie, but good one.
