Wallace and Gromit are cashing in with their humane pest-control outfit, "Anti-Pesto." With only days to go before the annual Giant Vegetable Competition, business is booming, but Wallace & Gromit are finding out that running a "humane" pest control outfit has its drawbacks as their West Wallaby Street home fills to the brim with captive rabbits. Suddenly, a huge, mysterious, veg-ravaging "beast" begins attacking the town's sacred vegetable plots at night, and the competition hostess, Lady Tottington, commissions Anti-Pesto to catch it and save the day. Lying in wait, however, is Lady Tottington's snobby suitor, Victor Quartermaine, who'd rather shoot the beast and secure the position of local hero - not to mention Lady Tottingon's hand in marriage. With the fate of the competition in the balance, Lady Tottington is eventually forced to allow Victor to hunt down the vegetable chomping marauder. Little does she know that Victor's real intent could have dire consequences for her...and Wallace & Gromit.

I'm probably the only person on this board that wants to see this but I think it looks really cute. I loved the shorts and this looks just as great. I'll definetely check it out opening weekend!

I think you'll find a LOT of W&G fans on this board. I'm one of 'em.
I appreciate any animated art form that requires patience and loving care in crafting each and every shot.

Other than the extremely lame looking Doom, if there is one movie to skip for the rest of the year, this is it. It doesn't look bad. Just sorta meh. I found Chicken Run to be extremely overrated and I think this will be on that level.

I liked the old Wallace and Gromit movies and this looks pretty good but since there are so many other movies coming out I'll wait until the video.

The reviews are pretty stellar for this one. And yes, Nick Park is a genious. And yes, W&G shorts are brilliant. And the word is out that this is the their best effort so far.
I hope the poor marketing won't kill this film's chances. I will DEFINITELY see it.

BoxOfficeMojo says its getting into 3000+ theaters...I haven't seen or heard any publicity for this film whatsoever besides this board. I don't think this will do too well.

Chicken Run started off with about 17-18 million in its opening weekend, and it went on to make over 100 million by the time its run was over. Not a bad cash cow -- if anything, W&G could do the same.
Rotten Tomatoes still has it at 100 percent, but I expect that to drop later in the week.

I'm seeing it tomorrow night at 8:45. I can't wait! :) My paper gave it (***1/2) and it's on two screens at my only ten screen cinema. That's great news!

You're not the only one who wants to see this! I just love W&G, and I'll probably see this. I've been hearing a lot of postive things about this movie too. Last time I checked RottenTomatoes.com gave it 100%, with 25 positive reviews and 0 negative.

It was funny, I'm seenig WAITING... with a bunch of friends but only one is seeing WALLACE with me. When I told my other friends I was seeing this after, they were like "it's just some kid flick." FUCKERS! ;)

"Cheese!"
Little ones are going to be saying that line to death after watching the movie, and why not? The essence of such fermented snack is what the character of Wallace is about; kindly but a little off, he's always gonna favor a nice whiff of gorgonzola to actually planning things out. Leave that to Gromit, the mutt who says the best greatest things without opening his mouth. It's all in his features, his slow-burn comic reactions to his master's sometimes dunderheaded schemes. They make a good comic pairing, a straight man/goofball duo. And they fit in perfectly in the world Nick Park has created. Actually, expanded, since the short features didn't reveal any of the glorious ideas and homages Park has in store for the viewer.
Is it as entertaining as Chicken Run? In its own right, W&G exist in a period where going to the cinema has lacked the essence of fun. The movie is a remedy to these ills. It'll leave you with a grin on your face, even if you don't get the jokes as they whiz past your head at a rapid pace or the homages to old movies.
In a span of a few weeks, between the release of The Corpse Bride and this, the only downside may be the fact that stop motion animation takes an awful amount of time to create and finish. Instead of salivating for the next batch of Aardman's best, take a trip to the theater and enjoy the ride with the "pair that started it all."

I just don't like clay mation, the shorts are the clay mation I like. The movie was average, overrated. It was cute but it's not all that ;)

I don't see how you could like it in shorts, but not in a feature length film.
Exactly what I expected, a little obvious with Ralph Fiennes being the one dimensional villain, but still a good time at the movies. Best gag = Gromit and the other dog searching for coins in between fighting each other.
7/10
BTW, what did people think of the CHRISTMAS CAPER short shown in front of the movie? Having not seen MADAGASCAR I thought it was just okay, some quick-witted lines and the recurring penguin with dynamite was cute, but also rather loud and forced in parts (the "Jingle Bells" ending in particular).

I thought Christmas Caper was obnoxious. I would've rather they just went straight to W&G right away, not waste time with this pandering nonsense.

Like I predicted, W&G did increase over the weekend, and it's going to make 16 million for its first three days. All it needs now is good legs and good WOM (damn you, Richard Roeper, and your dislike of stop motion animation!)
As a person who was at just the right age when The Wrong Trousers came onto British TV (I was 10), I can say I've loved Wallace And Gromit (almost) from the start.
After the success of Trousers, it was only then that a majority of people (including myself) discovered A Grand Day Out, which now looks like a product of its budget and time. I still like it, but it's not as accomplished as Trousers, and particularly A Close Shave.
Curse Of The Were-Rabbit is an excellent film in its own right, with plenty of nudge-nudge, wink-wink film references and plenty of laughs. It's also, visually, the best work Aardman Animation has ever done. Give me a stop-motion Aardman film anyday over PIXAR.
Chicken Run was pretty good, but Were-Rabbit is far superior and Nick Park deserves all the praise he gets for it (It's co-directed by Steve Box, but this is Park's baby afterall).
I can imagine a lot of the film could be a little too ' British' for foreign audiences (but, hey, that's the appeal), and another fairly negative point would be the repeat use of the mini-plane (ala Close Shave), but apart from that it was a cracking film, Gromit lad.

Loved this movie, definitely continuing in the tradition of Park's genius stop motion movies. Kids in the theater were diggin' it, parents were laughing. An all around good film AND Oscar bound as well.
