Best Buy has pissed me off for the last time. Today with some extra cash in my pocket, I walk into best buy to buy:
Cinderella
FLY 1 (possibly Fly 2 and Man with Screaming Brain )
Hitchcock Presents
Kolchack
Val Lewton

They're out of Val Lewton and Kolchak, they don't have Hitchcock, and Fly is sold out in all their stores. They did have cinderella but I was too dejected to buy it from the lack of Hitchcock and Fly. :(
This has happened many many times before in that same best buy and as much as I like walking into the store to buy dvds, I may just start buying dvds from Amazon or deepdiscountdvd.

Screw you Best Buy!!!

Do you not have another store to go to? Like Circuit City or Wal Mart? They almost always beat Best Buy's prices anyway.

Then there's Boarders. Not gonna be cheaper than Best Buy, but will be about the same as buying online plus shipping.

For me, the only positives for stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, and target/ Wal-mart have any more are the sales on just released movies (which usually only last from the Tuesday it is released to the following Saturday) and the occasional "Exclusive" bonus and you very rarely get anything really worth while, especially for new releases (though I have preordered Best Buy's Office Space exclusive).

If you're gonna start buying from the internet, deepdiscountdvd, amazon, and digitaleyes.net (my preferred retailer) are the way to go.

I choose Suncoast because of the rewards programs. They're pricing isn't the best, but when new stuff comes out it's usually $19.99, which is relatively the same as Best Buy.

Suncoast hasnt been doing so great with new releases though, as a few weeks ago, they didn't receive Ben-Hur 4 Disc set until 2 weeks after its release, and yesterday they only received one copy of The Warriors directors cut and sold it quickly. (It seems that when an older movie is being released in SE, Suncoast tends to get them a later than the release date)

the good thing about Suncoast is the Replay Rewards/Showbiz Bucks program. Sam Goody and Media Play stores are also a part of this.

Go ahead. It's great.

Pretty much unlimited selection, you can shop around, really there's no reason to not shop on the internet.

Exactly.

I'd probably only 4 or so OOP criterions and I've saved a fortune on alot of items.

the Best Buy around me has been getting worse lately....so has the Circuit CIty. Circuit City's prices for new releases are great though. I don't shop at Walmart at all actually, their selection is horrible. The best selections I can find are at Fry's Electronics (i live in OC, Cali), and also a place around here called DVD Planet. Great selection, good prices.

Also....if you have a place that sells USED movies....GREAT prices and also a great selection. I work at Wherehouse Music store here, and we get tons of good movies USED and most are in perfect condition as they probably steal what they have and bring it to us, and we cannot accuse them of anything so we have to accept it. So yeah, those are perfect condition and cheap prices. I bought a still sealed Brazil 3-Disc Criterion collection DVD for $15 not too long ago.

But yeah....if I order online though, it is very tough to beat www.deepdiscountdvd.com . Best prices and no shipping. Can't beat that.

There is one drawback about internet shopping, if your state is one of the lucky ones to charge state sales tax, and the place online where you buy DVDs doesn't.

Connecticut requires you to fill out a line on your yearly tax form to reimburse them for all the sales tax they didn't get on everything you purchases online, up to $200.

So far there is no real way for them to inforce it, but as the amount of online tax-free purchases starts getting larger and the states start "losing more money" I'm sure this will start to be more of a concern.

I know online stores like BestBuy.com charge state sales tax (as long as they have stores in that state), but most other online retailers don't. I would just keep an eye out for enforcement of this type of legislation in your state... Here's an article on it (http://www.nolo.com/article.cfm/objectID/87F6DD43-E6F2-4DFE-BCDB8E2E85DFF80B/111/277/167/ART/) I seem to remember California joining the ranks of states adding a line to their tax forms in 2004.

As of right now those greedy bastards aren't geting my money.

I probably buy 75% of my DVDs off of the internet anyway.
